  1. If I would like to obtain a res cert from my embassy (Netherlands), they check whether you have officially "checked out" in the Netherlands.

Therefore I had to get a resume from the authorities in the Netherlands.

I think that the Land & Transport office (licenses and vehicle registration) only accept Thai res cert's.

    There are several options:

    - begging immigration to submit 3 res cert's ($$$$)

    - next time you come to Thailand, obtain a O-A visa in your home country; you will probably get a 90-day single entry, but at least you will be able to apply for a res cert.

    - Parked boats at Bali Hai have disappeared

    - When you come back all taxi motorbikes may have been repainted in a blue colour

    - All vendors have been removed from Beach Road (Pattaya)

    - Central Festival (Second Road) has been refurbished / renovated and is now called Central Marina

    - The Avenue shopping mall is now almost completely empty as the biggest (clothes-) shop has closed its doors

.....but but........they're working in it.....not sure if they're just taking out stuff or prepare it for a new tenant.

I won't be suprised if Villa Market will move in.....

Thanks to JP1961's advice I did put the Irish tracking number into the Thailand Post's tracking website & it's showing as an attempted delivery last Friday afternoon but no more information other than that.

    BANG LAMUNG Out for Delivery

BANG LAMUNG Delivery Status International ( Unsuccessful Attempt)

Bang Lamung may imply that the post office you've to inquire is Banglamung postoffice along Naklua road.

The international tracking number may be sufficient since it is in their system.

Take your passport with you and maybe some cash (import-tax)

Don't wait too long.....after 14 days packages are usually "returned"

  4. connecting zip-codes to post offices makes no sense.

My ZIP is 20150 and parcels have to be picked up at Naklua; EMS letters have to be picked up at Na-Jomtien.

Tip: If you go to the track-n-trace service of Thailand Post and you end up with the overview and status of your tracking number you will see on the right bottom of the overview a link. Click on the link and you will possibly see a signature and a name and maybe an address.

IF you're able to see this........you're package is wrongly delivered.

The BTS works well in Bangkok and directly connects to Emporium, Emquartier, Term 21, Central Embassy, Central Chitlom, CentralWorld, Siam Square, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, MBK, Silom Complex.....

Yeahhhhh but Brewster.......the BTS is for ordinary people.

"We didn't buy an expensive car to go by public transport"

Of course you're right.....plenty of good opportunities to get around.

An off topic post has been removed, topic is about 'Yellow Bus Service to Mukdahan' not airline pilots

Understandable: Some bus drivers look like air-pilots and they for sure drive a bus as if it was a Boeing Dreamliner.

Apart from that; it seems that the Yellow Bus service has improved over the years, but apart from "just" booking a ticket it's also very smart to inquire about connections, transfers from border to consulate, opening hours of consulate, lead-time of submitting visa at the consulate, etc, etc.......

Then surely they could do that in Bangkok at the weekend, then they would not have to travel to Pattaya to shop? just a thought!

During the week it's a pain to get to a mall in Bangkok.

You're right about traffic in the weekend, it eases somewhat, but then it will be difficult to park your car under the mall because everyone has been listeneing to your advice. :sorry:

  8. It's still a gay friendly beach and it will always be.

Don't feel the str8 guys the urge to tan their dongs or is str8 life so boring that it won't impress the other sexe anyway?

Regarding the police presence: It's probably because of the beach-vendors and especially the gay ice-cream vendor: "Ice Cream! We scream! You scream!"

  9. Please don't bother to visit any of the SB stores in Pattaya or Koncept for that matter; very recently I visited most if not all of them and they're nothing more than a "tent-furniture-sales-joint" under a fixed roof.

Even the Koncept store which looked promising after its opening some years ago was a real bummer.

We ended up at Index and they have FOR SURE a design department on the 2nd floor.

Alternatively but probably more expensive, you could try stores like Chic Republic, Decorum or Euro Design.

  10. I heard this morning that from the 24th of this month baht-buses are no longer allowed to perform chartered services.

Which means (if true) at least 60% of the baht-buses will be absolete.

Of course the question is: how will the bib enforce this new rule?

Sorry to resurrect this old post but I just wanted to say don't bother tipping at Kiss food & drink restaurants as they add 7% VAT and they are NOT VAT registered. I asked for a VAT receipt and the waiter eventually returned and was told they don't have one. This is just a scam as I initially suspected to get the customer to pay the staffs wages. Now I remember why I returned to the UK!

Then again if you do go there, why not ask for a VAT receipt? Maybe then they will realise people are onto them and are not all stupid farangs!

I'm pretty sure that Kiss is VAT-registered. The simple fact that they can't produce a VAT-receipt is just that you're probably the first one ever that has asked for one.

VAT has nothing to do with paying operational expenses e.g. staff-wages.

Another inclusion may be the 10% service charge; that can be used by the owner/manager up to his discretion.

For many customers however, the 10% service-charge is a reason not to pay a tip.

  12. as any other super-market, wherever, the assortment is constantly adjusted to its clientele.

There was a talk about the Tops at TukCom....for sure they offer less Western products because there is less demand.

From the start, the Tops at the Chilled may offer a similar range of products as the Tops at Central, but after a while you may see products disappear due to lack of demand.

  13. Using a smart-phone and Google Maps MAY BE a good alternative, but beware: If you're aiming for a specific location (shop, business, hotel or otherwise) a lot of them are wrongly positioned and you may end up at the wrong location leaving you 'lost'.

If I'm going to Bangkok for a meeting, I take the business website hoping for a map; then I open Google maps and search for the same business.

In at least 30% of the searches the google-location differs from the actual location.

Finally I use the company-map and google to find out the gps coordinates and put thom in my Garmin.
