Ajarn, you'll be happy with k. Wirat at Neramit. He listens, is easy to talk to, has good suggestions and is reliable. His shop is not fancy, an ordinary tailor shop where things are made in the back. And away from the tourist area. He's one of those 'chiang mai institutions' that were areound even when you first came to Chiang Mai. Chances are he knows most of your friends. Go for it.
What he made for me most certainly wasn't tight, it was perfect.
And stop losing weight pls. There needs to be some left of you remember!!
Thanks, chanchao for the reality at Neramit. Makes me feel like I should have already been there.
And, it seems, that Khun Wirat is the man to speak with...
Thanks to everyone who replied.
I'm at 130 kilos (from 240 kilos). These last few (30) are the most difficult ones to lose..

Why is Neeramit considered the best, when they make too tight fittings? I'd prefer someone who knows how do it right...

Hi, I'm at a point where I need some new clothes. I haven't used a Thai tailor in more than 10 years... I simply copy all of my clothes as they age. At this point, I can't do that any more since I've lost more than 100 kilos...
So, currently I'm using my old clothes, but everything is way too big for me now, and I feel like I can't go outside.. Does anyone have a suggested tailor in Chiang Mai that I can use to get refitted? It would be great if they can do housecalls, too.

I figure all of my 'grunt' labour at 300 baht per day.

My choice...

i would appreciate any review of the royal peninsula hotel apartments. I've done a search of the forum and can find little mention of the place. In particular if anyone can compare to Viangbua Mansions.
Much appreciated ! :-)
Nice hotel, crappy area.

Ajarn, I am not sure exactly where Thai Pauli had his restaurant, can you give some more landmarks ? How far South of Lotus or the Motor Vehicle License place...?
Left at the main Hang Dong Intersection, two kilometers, in a one story bunch of little sales areas on the left, kind of in the back.

Well, I'm looking for a small 'riding' machine that I can move to be in front of where I'm seated (meaning, I want just the machine, nothing else like a seat). I'm left side paralyzed and balancing myself on a bike is very difficult.. My pool is getting cold, but I still need to work my legs as much as possible.. If you know of such a machine, I'd like to hear of it...

I got mine from their factory store in Hang Dong, just 1 km past the restaurant that was owned by ThaiPauly... On the left side amongst many other stores... Sorry, that's all I can remember, except the price- 2500 baht per table with chairs... delivery included.

I've seen Chang Puek Hospital on a few lists over the years describing the hospital as having poor services... Don't remember the details.

We are talking about two different doctors here, are we not? Dr Pattarapong and Dr.Padungkiat?
I assume they are not the same man.

This Sealy Mattress sucks! After only half a nights sleep, I have a backache and I'm so tired...
This mattress is hard as rock and lumpy. I am so tired of sleeping in my office chair, but what am I to do?

On one occasion, the kind doctor gave me a medication for my atrial fib, and then didn't bother me with the news he had received showing that the drug had more folks dying after taking it than were being helped by it, he 'remembered' it when I came in with a heart attack... On another occasion, whe I had complaind to him about my leg, he, without ever bothering to even ask to inspect it, ordered me to take an expensive shot every day for a week.. After two more days, I went to Mcormicks and was told I had a very serious tissue infection, and that I might lose my leg... I didn't, thank God, but it took more than some medicine to get it fixed.
I'm sure Dr.Padungkiat is great sometimes, but not everytime, in my exprience... So, if you are new here or not very smart with docs, I would suggest a Dr. with a better record of care than I have seen

Gonzo, they just showed me the new can a couple of days ago, but I haven't had one yet, so I can't comment... Chanchao, I agree that the shelf life (14 weeks) is not very long...Up until about 4 years ago, I was a Pepsi Max fan, but with too many hassles with getting bad pepsi, I switched to diet coke. Pepsi Max is the other main player in the market, but they have the same 14 week deal with their stuff, also.. No problem with Coke (for me) for a few years now.

I use Dr. Padungkia at Chiang Mai Ram Hospital. He's quite thorough and has the training to do certain proceedures like abalation if you have atrial fib.
My experience with Dr. Padunkiat at Ram over the last 15 years has been a mixture of crappy medicine and mediocre medicine. I would suggest that you visit someone else besides this doctor...

What is a Christmas Cracker??
-
I have not seen it in 7-11 although I have made a point of looking..I have never come accross it anywhere in LOS, which is a shame as it was my favourite non-alcoholic drink.
But if Ajarn thinks 7/11 now stock it I will certainly start the quest again.. although I fear that Ajarn only drinks plain Diet Coke. The Caffine free one is in gold /red cans.
You could be right... I was responding to the 'diet' coke part only. Afraid I have no idea about 'caffeine-free' diet coke. If it is in town, you can still order directly by calling 053-242-925

My wife is pregnant and doesn't want to give the baby caffeine but wants some of the go juice she was used to before the pregnancy. Yes yes I know soda is not good for the baby either.. but she just wants a glass or so once in a while... Tried Rim Ping in Kad Frang Hang Dong but no go... any thoughts?
Try 7-11... It's a common thing here now, and diet coke is all I drink. I order it directly from the local factory by phone.

Interesting article to me.
I want to visit Thailand for 4 weeks come Feburary, but the biggest doubt i have is the softness of the mattress. I have been to China and simply couldn't wait to get home.
I have a crook back which calls for a soft mattress. I can't bring my AUD $8000 one with me
Can anyone tell me about the mattress quality in motels/resorts?
I wish to visit Chiang Mai first , and if i get comfortable, could easily spend 4 weeks there.
so, bottom line is ... i am looking for a place to stay with a comfortable mattress.
does anyone know of such a place?
Regards,
WAZZA

Simply put, 'sealy, chiang mai' in google.com search, and you will get a bunch of hotels bragging about their sealy mattresses.

Well, I've had a look at a fancy brochure, and have decided on a Seely Posturpedic Ambience, priced at18,900 for the top and bottom. Said that they had priced it at 46,230 and had reduced it...

Hi,
Actually, my friend is meeting a doctor at Chiang Mai Ram 2 , who does not explain anything about the desease , but is cool anyway.
Thanks you.
Dr Narong Lao at the old Ram 2 hospital is a cool guy, but he's Thai... Feel free to ask him anything you feel that you should know. That's his style.

I would figure at least 1 kilo per person... Rimping and Northern Farm Products seem to carry the best... Why not get someone to bake it for you? A lot less hassle.
13 kilo "that's a biiig bird"
Yep, plenty of leftover sandwiches

Dog On The Menu In Cm?
in Chiang Mai
Posted
Yeah, so what? Dog meat is bought in many parts of Thailand. In Chiang Mai, it can be bought south of town in San Pa Tong, and at the Ton Payom Market and other places.
