  1. I'm too busy to think about being busy! cheesy.gifcheesy.gif

My mate is an English teacher and at weekends he and others are 'minicabbed' into the Ubon area to teach so maybe there are jobs going there???????

  2. In Australia it's become so bad that they can get a percentage of your pension if they can prove a 'de facto' relationship lasting over a year, even if you have a wife and family and they were only the 'bit on the side'.

Same in UK but there is no 'golden rule' (unlike the sweaties)

  3. Seems you and Khun Matt's wife/GF live in "cesspool" Villages. rolleyes.gif

Never experienced that, live in Isaan.thumbsup.gif

I have experienced this in many different locations over the years in Isaan so i dont think it just reflects on where i live now. Maybe I have just been unlucky in the people and places I have been. There are far more good guys out ther in the villages.

  4. It was really pathetic teenage girl stuff and I just told my gf to ignore them and the only reason they are talking shit is because they are jealous.

    KunMatt

Its lucky you have just experienced pathetic teenage girlie stuff!

Unfortunetly I have seen down right evil stuff done to my lady because of jealousy. My lady was in crippling pain on an A&E bed and this farangs wife came to get her sisters phone number. We thought (stupidly) she was informing her family in Thai of our problem.

NO!....... She phoned her sister to try to get 20,000b for introducing her to a farang. the funny thing is she is renting out the SAME American farang to guillable stupid ladies searching for Mr ATM!

Whats sad is the American husband is living in denial of all this and many more evil goings on.

  5. If she walks into her village the same sort of person as she walked out there will be no problem. If she walks in and starts to show off then the problems above may arise.

She has gone home to take care of a parent. <deleted> give her, and the people around her some credit.

I disagree and IsaanAusie has raised some valid points.

Simple Isaan farming folk will have made up thier own conclusions long before she has any village dust on those western shoes. Rumour/Gossip/Lies and especially Jealousy are rife in every village IMHO. I am very sorry to say this, but the worst offenders are those others married to farangs.

Please warn her that she will be looked upon in a very different way now no matter what or how she looks/does.

Both the 2 other Maj places are a short walk away.

Majestic Appartments is near to the rail line and Starbeams restaurant (about 5 minutes crawl away)

Majestic Twin is down the end of Soi Kola, then turn right (also about 5 minutes away if you dont stop at Soi Kola) 5555

  7. Can you suggest a mid-range hotel for 3 coming from Jomtien to Surin for the party please ?

    Anyone, thanks appreciated.

I would suggest the Majestic Hotel and its also the nearest to FC.

PLEASE NOTE all Surin hotel start to get busy as this is just before the biggest event in the Surin calender, The Surin Elephant Show, so I would suggest you book in advance.

  8. Karen Hilltribes Trust and Student Education Trust (Nakorn Sawan) are both thoroughly reliable, and make the best use of sponsors' money.

In Isan, you can check out Tree of Life Orphanage in Buriram; I simply don't know how good they are.

I have dealt with them and they seemed very respectable and honest to me! The children in thier care have a far better standard of living than if they didn't exist, that I can be sure of.

  9. Your failing is thinking logically.

Do you really expect the Immigration officer to give a hoot as to what you think. I am in agreement with your reasoning but do you think you can change the situation, I don't think so.

Sorry but I think it must be said!

  10. The NGO workers I know live in beautiful condos on Sukhumvit soi 11 Bangkok and go out clubbing every night. They have salarys five times the amount a western English teacher in an Isaan school might get. They spend all day dicking about on facebook as 'social media consultants' or some such nonsense.

Nice work, if you can get it.

Where do I sign up!!!!! cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

    'western English teacher'

Wot you mean like The Worzels'???????

  11. I've had a D-Max 3.0Lt automatic for just coming up to 3 years. It's a comfortable ride, although the leaf-springs do give a slightly 'bouncy castle' effect if there's no weight in the back. On local trips I reckon it gets about 10km/litre, on a recent run between Udon Thani and Rayong it exceeded 13.5. The engine's a little noisy from cold, but quiet enough when warmed up. It's utterly reliable, I had to replace the battery 6 months ago and before that a broken shock absorber from hitting a monster pothole at 110kph, apart from that, nothing. It's done about 46000 kilos and is still on the original tyres. We've carried literally tons of building materials and stuff for the garden, and as far as I'm concerned, 'face' doesn't come into it, for provincial Thailand there is nothing to beat this type of vehicle. Its only drawback is that it has the turning circle of the Ark Royal, and parking would be a bugger without the camera in the tailgate (a standard fitting, as are USB connection and satnav). I expect I will have run into the ground before it does.

+1 for Dmax 3 litre Auto.
