  2. I spent many hears working in Saudi and using Manama as my R&R and flight departure. You diffidently need to be at the airport to meet her.

you say she is to be there for ten days. I hope for her that your going to be with her for all this time. This is not the place for her to be on her own..

also the hotel needs to be 4 star or better to get away from potential trouble. Take care of her and she should be ok. Bahrain is a very interesting place and quite a few very excellent expat venues to attend. Cheers.

Yes i am meeting her at the airport and will be staying with her all the time until she leaves. We will be staying at the Al Manzil Suites one, it's in Jufffair Manama do you or anyone else know it ?

ur only couple blocks from on of my favorites.

  4. HI

I've been using the Buri Ram Pie man for the last year, and have had no problems. He has a wide menu which I hav'nt exhausted yey.

You should be able to find him on the internet as he has his own web site. Not sure if I ca put the address on here.

    Cheers

Mike (across the river in Roi Et)

I have just checked a map. Buriram is about 120kms. How often do you go there?

Never been there . Never met him. But he has always been reliable. If you phone him he is easy to talk to and knows the buses.

I send the money through the Post Office and have never had a problem. Could do it through the ATM but tried and failed! Probably too old for this, and anyway I use the Post Office a lot and want to support them. In the UK they are almost extinct but her they are a life line.

    Cheers Mike

  6. If you like teak furniture go to Ban Tawai before going anywhere else, 15 minutes outside of town.

Anyone know of anywhere similar in Kalasin, Roi Et or Khon Kaen?

Give the Den Chai/Phrae area ago.for contemporary and teak furniture. Big savings over Ban Tawai. On highway 11 about 2.5 hours south of Chiang Mai.

GPS 17.974794, 100.014596 . Great trip and scenery spend the night or two.

Do they deliver or do you have to drive a truck to the place? I remember Baan Tawai prices were not inexpensive.

all the businesses deliver for a fair rate. 5000 bt for kitchen set in dc and its 12000 bt in cm. 50,000 bt of furniture from dc to surin, 700km, transport cost 7,000 bt.

That's also the reason why I always let my Wife cash the lottery tickets, but up til now she never ever had to go, because we never win thumbsup.gif

been sometime but i have hit it 3 times for 60k each time.

  9. Thanks a million khwaibah, I am in the states right now working, my wife is checking out if the hospital as we speak, for the 2nd time in 3 weeks she has had some kind of breathing problem. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is but besides the breathing problem in a weeks time her stomach had blown up and she looks like she is 5 months pregnant only she isn't pregnant. I am trying to find a Doctor that she can go see that might actually try to figure out what the problem is and maybe take care of it. So far everything she had a problem she rushes to the hospital, they give her some shots and then send her on her way. I will pass on the photo and see if I can't get her to go before she has to be wheeled in again

If you want send me a pm and i'll give you my wife's phone number to pass on to your wife and the wife's can yak yak...

  10. Bout right about Rattanaburi. I just been there for the afternoon. Surin is bigger and busier but there are a few farang places in Sisaket too. As said previously, Roi Et is also a nice place to "get away" too.

I don't really what to "get away". I was just thinking of getting some provisions and maybe a bit of English grub to bring home.

I actually like the quaintness of it up here. I love the local food but every now and then it would be nice to have something else.

I will need to get some visa stuff sorted next week. That means Kap Cheong, doesn't it? Maybe I can get through Surin on the way or way back. Probably on the way back as I will be looking for food to take home.

    Thanks again.

Kap Choeng it is and Staffords Food in Prasat and Norby's in Surin for take home. http://nnrestaurant.de.tl/ http://www.staffordsfoodsthailand.com/ you may wont a car to carry an ice box for all the goodies.

  11. Surin Ruam Phaet Hospital next to Surin plaza. my wife had had 2 operations by this doctor.

The doctors name is in Thai at the top. There are four hospitals in Surin and all the doctors rotate between them. The cost varies as to which hospital you go to. The hospital mentioned above post is the highest for cost. The hospital that I have mention and the doctor we have had personla experince with and will use him again and the hospital including my self. The trick is to find a doctor that you trust then HE can admit you into the government hospital if thats your choice.
