  1. Or just use drinking water, not mineral water. Basically the same as distilled water, the process is a bit more complex. However I don't know if distilled water is still really distilled or also just filtered.

  2. Some run down because of age ,but the majority high class ,so i dont know where you are coming from ?

Been there 3 years ago when househunting and have seen most of it. Many as I said run down, no security, no water in the pool. Abandoned by the developer and locals do not care at all. Or the new built ones completely crammed, narrow, lucky if you find an empty 90 talang wah house, if lucky with aircon, for 5 million. We settled for Hang Dong, did not regret it. But beauty lies in the eye of the beholder :)

  3. They usually supply a modem (which is a basic LAN router, no Wifi) and a separate Wifi box. Both Chinese crap, we got one ZTE modem and they wanted to sell a TP-link router from TOT, probably the same with AIS. Modem you can't avoid, but I connected a Fritzbox to it. Works after all, service quality is so-so. Was funny to have 2 TOT guys sitting here, trying to measure with Speedtest on their iPhones after they tried to mess up the router settings and before I got completely pissed off from the clowns.

  4. Rubbish.

I get that there are a fair few farangs in Isan, but density per head of population would be far, far higher in CM probably compared to anywhere else in Thailand. Last estimate I heard was that there was somewhere in the vicinity of 50,000-70,000+ farang in CM, not including tourists.

And what exactly is your point? We should condemn the opening of new immigration offices in the Chiang Mai area, because there are less farangs in Isaan? :)

  5. Roi Et should get a new one, was supposed to be opened already but not yet.

No 2am queues in Chiang Mai, 6am (still sucks) is enough, they give out the numbers more than one hour before they open services. Idiotic at best.

  6. I think it is pretty obvious

It is obvious what has been said in the past

Obviously some keep going on about it

Maybe they need to read the posts and let sleeping dogs lie

We all know what is going we just can not say it here

We all have to do the best we can living here

Its just a pity that things can not be the same as in other areas

just my 2 cents worth seeing people keep going on about spilled milk

Pretty much down to the core. Thanks!

  7. I would not discredit this, they are also popping up in Isaan, where probably more Farangs stay than in the entire Chiang Mai Immigration area. These are not all agents to make extra money and I've had not really any bad experiences with any immigration officer in Thailand.

  8. ^ Lamphun has at least an old town area with a moat around, plus it's closer to Chiang Mai.

    Lampang is just complete horror.

Did you consider Bangkok? I know it sucks, but compared to Lampang? We need to catch up for a beer still :)

  9. Sansai, that is the area closer to the city, has a number of pretty much run down moo baans. Probably it was hot there 20 years ago before people stopped paying maintenance fees, the developer went on to new pastures and the objects were just left to themselves.

You may look for actively managed developments, I think Koolpunt does a reasonably good job, without abandoning the villages. They are all over, bit more pricey perhaps, but I'd suggest it is worth if you have a pool with water in it :).

  10. AFAIK Lamphun and Lampang are together with Chiang Mai under one "immigration authority". There were 90 day reports possible in Lampang and perhaps re-entry permits. Not a full fledged office, but helpful for the people living there.

A number of new immigrations offices are popping up around the country, hopefully it will help to distribute the work load (and travel effort) for all of us.

  11. going to the police is a waste of time

No, it is not. If you made a police report you're done with it.

you have experience of this ? yes if you go to the police you sure are done with it.

you will not hear from the police. as i said best sorted out with the wife.

What does it matter if you hear from police or not? The point is you made a report. Welcome to Thailand :)
