  1. I can't help but in the long run it is the farmer who is going to suffer. The person who this pledging scheme was "supposed" to benefit. Once the market for Thai rice is totally screwed and the pledging scheme ends, the farmers will not be able to give the stuff away let alone sell it.

Did you to actually think for one minute, that the PTP designed this scheme scam for sole benefit of the poor farmer? And give a sh!t what the long term negative effect will be on those poor farmers?

It was done for votes, as are most populist schemes. However, if down the road the farmers start to suffer, which party is going to suffer at the polls as a result. I do not think that PTP has thought the scheme through as thoroughly as it should have. Hopefully, it will come back to bite PTP in the bum.

    Who's bum in particular?

  2. Touched a nerve I see.Truth hurts apparently.

Incidentally I see in the post above you are back to your old habit of insulting women.I suggest you desist not only because it will get you into trouble again but because it adds nothing to the discussion.Thanks.

I don't think too many people would object if she was confined to one appearance per year at the end of October in a pointy hat

  3. Ahh so the Democrats are now on the military is too powerful wavelength. Didn't seem to bother them when they needed the army's backing to get into power.

Maybe, what upsets the Democrats is not the inappropriate conduct, but that it protest may indicate a change in support, from the Democrats to the PTP. I have a feeling that Mr. Abhisit is on borrowed time.

What are you condemning? The message or the messenger?

Not sure you can see through the wood

  5. Hard to have confidence in a country with regular Army coups, mafia police force, crooked politicians, invisible hand running things,, politicized courts, gunning down democratic protesters, storming airports and instigating a war with Cambodia.

However the Ministry of Propaganda asures tourism is on the rise and if the Thai govt says it who are we mere mortals, especially farang, to disagree ?

I must admit that the cynic in me is doubting any figures put forward by the government.

  6. A thoughtful analysis from 2010 of the Thai Cambodia OCA and the potential for the resolution of issues http://www.clc-asia....-gas-resources/

Agreeably, a thoughtful and quite reasonable summation of the topic. Thanks for posting.

Couldn't help but notice their first point in how to move forward mirrored mine posted earlier.

What will ultimately bring both sides back to the table (again)?

    1) A change of philosophy to marine border demarcation

A Thai navy expert familiar with the issue of the maritime border also suggested a ‘good starting point’ for resolution is for Cambodia to accept the lack of legal basis for the demarcation line which Cambodia has drawn through Kut Island (a Thai resort island ceded by Cambodia’s former colonial master, France in 1904 ). From the Thai perspective, Cambodia may have to draw another line by using the median line principal, to delimit the territorial sea and continental shelf between the two countries.

It'll be interesting to see how things progress.

    .

It all makes perfect sense, pounds, shillings and pence.

    I'll Roger that.

  7. They called Prayuth "a woman on her period".

Seriously, I think the small demonstration in support of their boss was fine & to be expected.

    Good lads.

Or even, perhaps, a small menstruation in support of their boss.

Sondhi's clearly the one who's getting all pre-menstrual because the army won't overthrow the government or start a war.

Given his 2 yellow boys are still in custody, he should keep his head down

  8. The government should be very unimpressed by Thai businesses. Thai businesses rely on cheap manual labor, refuse to innovate and are always first in line to ask for subsidies Being it subsidies on labor costs, subsides after their generals kill a bunch of people in the streets and subsidies for the fuel costs that go in their 25 year old polluting cars.

A increase in wages is good for Thailand, at least the minimum wage comes closer to that of China. Let the poluting low tech businesses go to Africa, Cambodia or Bangladesh it is an incentive for new businesses to develop. It is a very normal cycle and businessmen too lazy or too dumb to innovate will go bankrupt. So be it!

Nonsense. They are annoyed at Yingluck spending their money

  9. Round up all the yellow shirt neo fascist supporters of the PAD bus them to Cambodia, lay land mines around the temple or check how their parents and grand parents go Thai nationality and if it was not according the rules, sent them back to China. It solves all of Thailand's problems.

Your xenophobia not only marks you out as a fascist but a hypocrite to boot

  10. Is there a way to shoot them and put them out of there misory. Maybe set up a instalartion on the area in dispute and move them all into it.

Well, possibly a more legal way would to jail their money backer - it's not as if there isn't an outstanding jail sentence awaiting him, the Corporate Fraud 20 year sentence would do. Or they could just hit Sondhi for his share in the Airport Occupation Fine of $17 Million still outstanding from March 2011. That should calm things down a bit on the funding arrangements but there are other fund raisers out there...........

  11. Gotta love this never-failing blazing yellow propaganda on this forum. Never fails to amuse me, especially coming from clueless foreigners. Abhisit, Prem and the military brass appreciate your help.

Anti-red or anti-idiot doesn't automatically make one a yellow supporter or clueless. In fact, I would hazard a guess that most foreigners here are more clued in to the real politics that happen here than the majority of the Thai's are.

Besides all that, it makes a nice counterpoint to the blazing red propaganda so many spout out here cheesy.gif

Do you have any sort of explanations to backup your claim? I find it disrespectful to 'hazard' such things.

And I don't know where you've been, but what you call red propaganda is quite scarce these days. Or maybe I'm just trying to recognize trolls on TV threads reporting articles of the ersatz of a newspaper that is The Nation wink.png

    Corruption brings absolute power.
