  1. P.S. my eldest son was burned badly from stupidity when he was young, and I have nothing but respect for him as he has gone above and beyond and handled every crisis in his life, including the burns. He is happily married and is on the way to starting a family of his own. But is wasn't easy.

It will be even more difficult for this poor women !!!!

If stupidity burned, we'd have a much better government

  2. Hot off the press in news that Nattawut is to mobilise a million red shirts nationally to address the egg laying problem. A million litres of petrol in a million bottles will be taken to a million henhouses around the nation in an attempt to persuade the non-laying birds to start delivering promply or their batteries will be incinerated forthwith. Barricades of bamboo and car tyres will be constructed to prevent the chooks from fleeing.

  3. It seems that most responders to this thread are doing their best to destroy Thailands credibility since they must know that what is written here is devoured by the currency marketers.

Shame on all of those guilty of joining the feeding frenzy of the foreign community that would attempt to keep Thailand's sovereign ratings low. In a sense you are Traitors because none of you know what you are talking about simply because the actual figures have not been published.

I can see all the currency traders typing frantically away impressively tooled up with ThaiVisa screens next to their Bloomberg data feed.

The actual figure was released by a civil servant at the FM who was subsequently fired. Why on earth do you think the PTP wants to keep a lid on these figures? Because they are so good?

I have a simple rule - if it smells like a poo then it must be a poo. This rice scheme is a poo

  4. How nice it must be to be a civil servant under this regime.

In thi case they fire a guy illegally and when ordered to reinstate him, they declare that they will not listen to anything he says. The present incumbent has hardly set the world on fire with his negotiations in the south - the killings have increased even further!

This is far from isolated unfortunately. A person was fired at the finance ministry for divulging the true cost of the rice scheme. Public money so why the huge secrecy? We all know that.

The Bank of Thailand's independent governor was lucky to escape being fired (events unfolded to show he was correct) but the damage was done by statements from the self confessed liar Jittirat.

Education is another area where money is being spent for a worse service. Spending millions of tablets isn't the answer. Closing schools isnt the answer - increasing the quality of education clearly is.

Transport is another area where the (albeit plodding) policies of road and rail amerioration are now further handicapped by spending massive money on a high speed raiul network that doesn't reach the promised terminals and will strapp the nation with a massive loans for a half century.

Health - the P4P may or may not be the answer to increasing quality but failing to listen to groups such as doctors is a crime. With ASEAN around the corner this is one area that could be destroyed in days with labour migration.

The massive spending proposed on floods is another - how many of Thaland's true experts have resigned from the panel due to politicians forcing their unqualified opinions on them?

Even NGOs such as the environmental bodies who opposed the flood and water management initiatives were abused.

Those departments that lie on their backs a wiggle their legs such as the DSI have obviously fared better

Unfortunately the whole array of problems can be traced back to unqualified persons being selected for their role by who they know rather than what they know and by a whole government focussing on the amesty of one man instead of the 70 million people who live here

  5. "He said the National Savings Fund project has not materialised even after the deadline, adding that over 12 million elderly people have had their welfare ignored, which costs Bt114 billion due to the finance minister’s failure to take any action."

"Bugger the old people, we need the money for more important projects."whistling.gif

None of former Prime Abhisit's social programs gained traction because each of them is flawed. Examples; 1.The Government Loans program to reduce the dependance of the poor on illegal money lenders. The scheme sought interest payments of 12% which is virtual usuary further the plan lacked a methodology to prise borrowers away from the illegal mony lenders. 2. The Abhistit stimulation program pledging 2,000 Baht to every employed person ran out of funds. Similar story to most of his inititives.

  6. Egg prices too expensive, don't eat them then! It's not like eggs are that important to a mean like rice or meat. We can do without kai jiao till the price stabilises.

Well on your income that maybe so, but there are a hell of a lot of Thais on or below the poverty line where eggs are part of the basic diet. You think if they cant afford the eggs they can afford meat?

    Very true GJ.

If eggs are so expensive, why hasn't the price of chicken increased?

    Which came first?

  7. I wonder who did the 'explaining' that these groups are just more of the PAD etc. If it was one of the red shirt supporters then that so called explanation is not worth two turds.

It is really amazing that so called democracy (a rather twisted version) supporters have to belittle any opposition to the present government..

Er, since many of the same names are involved in PAD, Pitak Siam, Multicoloureds and this latest group you don't need to be a red supporter to join up the dots.

There's plenty to oppose in the current government. The Democrats should be doing better at this stage of the government's term. The objection is not to opposition but to the constant invocations for the army and/or courts to step in.

    Where are these dots?

  8. Does Thailand have an overwhelming majority of women? If not statistics will tell us there is a large number of chicken chokers, or that Thai women are also having multiple heterosexual relationships.

That Thai society chooses to ignore this and cling to the "faithful little woman" fantasy is reflected in the language. A male who has multiple partners is a butterfly, or in extreme cases, a helicopter. A woman who has multiple partners is a slut.

It appears that many men bat for the other side - that would shift the datum

  9. I think the 'Dissolve all parties' approach is a bit frivolous... and Thai politics should move away from this 'disband my enemy's party' concept

Personally I think the tactic is to bring a number of cases that will be found in favour of the government.

When the time comes to find the right case against the government, the courts can point to a history of having found in PTP's favour.

    My theory for the day.....
