  1. Thanks. Do you happen to know if the vaccination requirement is also applicable to Thais or just foreigners?
  2. thats what I think too. But I wondering how the whole issue is handled techically i.e do they record the post-filing at all anywhere even when I file, just take the paper as the regulation is like that. They will not give receipt, and neither they require any proof that you had the 400k in your account during months 4-10, only the two months prior to extension application. Thus, wonder what really happens with this if report not done at all. As they do not give any receipt for this, I could basically say I filed, but they lost the paper or misfiled or something, if they would refer to that at renewal. The whole regulation of post reporting is a moronic idea of someone in immigration HQ, without considerations or actual plans of implementation (as in many policy cases here), IMO.
  3. I have done this post report since it became a requirement, I think twice already. Just renewed my extension this week and again got the paper with date to do the post report. When I submitted the documents 3 mo later, I did not get anything to confirm that I have done it. This to me is an indication that they actually do not file it anywhere, and skipping the report might not have any impact whatsoever. At renewal they only check the 2mo before. The interesing question is whether anybody who got the paper but did not go report at all, had any trouble renewing their extension following year. People who use agent to bypass the 800k requiment do not need to do this report, though is possible that the agents would do it but I bet it is not required to be done at all if pay the 'fee'. 90 days report still needed.
  4. Walked along makro sukhumvit alleys yesterday but did not see any pork sausages in frozer pork section. Any idea where they keep them?
  5. I think price of rice is measured in usd, anyway not in baht. Price set in global markets where thai simply is in very bad position against esp. Vietnam If baht is up, the price thai seller gets goes down (if they choose to sell). That's why the rice subsidy is in talks again.
  6. I am contemplating to make a trip to south, visiting the islands (similan, Lipe, Kradan and maybe others) that I never seen. What is the best way to find about possible limitations/restrictions to visit those places due to covid?
  7. April fools day? Thai news headlines are really getting totally absurd, April fools day headlines in the west look serious compared to this
  8. Reuirements for 65k method seem to me country specific, at least in Pattaya. Last year I tried 65k method, but was declined as for my country (with state pension system) they required embassy document about pension. I can not get as I am not entitle to pension from my country due to my age, am self funding too, thus can not qualify for 65k method. So back to 800k system. I understood that had I passport from some other country, I could have qualified with my paperwork (excl any income statement, just had the monthly bank transfer docs) Thus, if you could share your country and possibly earlier experience in BKK, maybe could get more accurate and reliable answers.
  9. If really 80% of slots taken, then either a lot of almost empty planes landing, or alternatively a lot of unused slots!
  10. If I were Thai goverment, as part of the overall tourist attraction plan, I would institute a policy that anybody who would be quarantined due to being victim of this testing policy would be put to nice luxyry pool villa with full board at goverment cost, and on top of that would give $1000 voucher for each person to welcome them later. Best I could do to alleviate concerns of this system. So few test positive cases that for sure it would bring more than cost, and minimise the bad press. But I know they are too simple-minded xenofobic that for sure they will not.
  11. Okay so seems to be as before then!
  12. Time to renew my retirement extension...have not followed what special arrangements there are, if any, in Pattaya immigration due to Covid so asking here - can I just go as before and get a queue number at counter, or any appointment system that I would need to use? Seems it is closed until later this week, so probably no point to go until next week anyway.
  13. Anyway they did not use insurance end date as the stamp date, rather extension end date? Any idea what might have been the logic/reason, if any? Or just random?
  14. Arrived on 8th Oct on re entry as well! What you say is that for those on long term visa or extension they actually don't look at the validity period of insurance?? What visa you have?
  15. wonder how the current requirements work for people like me who have Non-O expiring at different time than annually renewable health insurance. Visa expiriy in Dec, insurance renewal in April, been like that for years. Now, if I want to go visit home for xmas for a week or two, what kind of stamp I get when come back for new year, having 3.5mo left of my insurance period? Only to April? If so, can I get new stamp from immigration if I go show my new policy in April? Or only way to travel hassle free when I want, without having to buy double insurance is to align the extension and insurance renewal dates?? Went for summer visit and came back, no issue as insurance validity longer than visa renewal. But any visit between Dec-Mar has this issue.
  16. Was just under my annual excess, so out of my pocket as no other medical costs that year. Anyway, my whole pint was just to comment lifecare in case of out-of-spec results. Have used them this year again as cheap and convenient broad test package, recognizing that may not be 100% reliable
  17. The test that ended up costing about 25k to me was blood calcium. Went to my regular annual checkup there (used few times before without issues), and the package included this test; I had no idea what it is for before. Result was off, I thought maybe some temporary issue, however (after stydying what this being off would mean) went for 2nd try just for this particular test 2 or 3 wks later. Result about same. As the likely root cause is either cancer or tumor in parathyroid, I went to Bumrungrad for the top doctor in this area, kind of assuming I need an operation asap to try to fix it. I was stupid enough to make all necessary/possible tests related to this problem (contrary to just making this particular test there or some other hospital). Results next day, all clear. No problem with my calcium level, bone density normal, and parathyroid working normal. Doctor suspected lack of calibration of the lab equipment. I was of course happy to be OK, however less than happy to be about 26k baht poorer. Lesson to learn: if you have some strange result, go do the validation test in a different lab, preferably in reputable hospital where lab maintenenance is hopefully better. This happened 2 or 3 yrs ago. Since I have used lifecare for checkup, and this particular value has been within normal range. The scary part, though maybe less likely, is if that something critical that is off in real life, is shown to be OK because of lab error, you wont find it until later...
  18. cheap and convenient...but at times their equipment calibration seems not be done properly, so if the test is important or health-critical, or if you get some unexpected off-limits result, consider another place for the test or at least validation in another place instead going to them for 2nd time like I did, thinking it was just bad luck, and got same off-limits result. Ended up going to Bumrungrad for special doc consultation due to alarming double result from their lab, everything normal in B tests. Suspected improper equipment calibration.
  19. I bought replacement vizor for my REAL brand helmet from this shop (junction Tai and Khopai), they have wide selection of helmets and helmet spares so worth a look. https://goo.gl/maps/WZUiaAyU69FmDwGTA
  20. Wonder how many used condoms laundered packed by same people. Maybe they have collectors in massage parlors and other establishments with supply!
  21. "... three out of four Thai roads are not fit for motorcyclists." What he says maybe true. But what really is the root cause for bike accidents is the other way: three out of four Thai motorcyclists are not fit for roads. No matter how the roads, if people don't adjust their driving to roads, they will continue to die.
  22. ... To make small streams into an ocean, can also take off the small stem base pieces of tomatoes as some have them still...!????
  23. Family resort, if anything, needs daddy day care and daddy night care centers!
  24. re your comment about sound quality, was it related to the movie sound itself, or the sound system in the specific cinema1?
