  1. I was questioning if that particular poster really needs to know the name. It is out there now and it seems the police believe they have their man.
  2. That's the chap. 27 years old, but, who knows, could be a successful young chap .... till now. It looks like he will be taking the rap.
  3. It is published today in the main story on the Bangkok Post's front page. It will be in the paper's online version too, if you really need to know.
  4. The head of the fire service has been moved from his post. I am keen to see who the owners of this place are.
  5. That looks like a very good price for a very good hotel. I would go for it if I were you. 2 minute walk to Beach Road you can get a Baht bus to Central Festival Mall or Walking St or Sois 6, 7 & 8. Loads of decent restaurants in easy reach too. Motorcycle taxis at the end of the Soi can take you further afield: Soi Buakaow for example for about 60 Baht.
  6. Not on the beachfront either, though you can see the sea from the higher rooms.
  7. It is part of the A-One group on Soi 3. About 100 yards turning right outside the hotel is an old style beer bar complex. Further towards 2nd Rd is Melodies Bar. Read online reviews for the hotel. My understanding is it is heavily discounted just now before high season comes.
  8. Big hoo haa in Pattaya about a Ponzi type scheme run from the inside of a bank by a rogue employee. Many falangs are victims of this fraud.
  9. Isn't there a perfectly good and shaded footpath on the beach side of the road?
  10. The counter argument is: if you enforce the law and start clamping or towing away vehicles and fining their drivers, then they will not return to Pattaya and they will post on social media and deter others from coming too. About 2 years ago cars parked on Pattaya Beach Rd were being penalised and this position was quickly reversed after much criticism online. Businesses on or near the beaches need customers at weekends and don't want them being scared off by the police. A couple of park and ride schemes would make a positive difference to improve things for everybody, but I won't hold my breath waiting. Not enough car parks either, or they are in the wrong places.
  11. This topic is covered in the editorial column of today's Bangkok Post. In Malaysia it is now forbidden for an MP to change party between general elections; the editorial proposes similar legislation for Thai MPs. See the online version to view the article ( no link allowed).
  12. And has opened himself up to a whole new world of pain. Each to their own.
  13. What on earth has the OP let himself in for? Not too sure about the advice from a hospital doctor so go to an anonymous internet forum for a second opinion.
  14. I intend to make that journey on foot later today; is it possible?
  15. If he keeps asking till he finds a Champs League team he could end up at Rangers. Might have to take a drop in wages.
  16. May the blessings of St Hubbin be upon you.
  17. I do think there is demand for quality locations and feel that China and Hong Kong in particular have a lot of potential buyers. The Thai Government is actively encouraging these types of foreign investors, much derided by many on this forum who are not remotely the target market.
  18. I will stay in and continue my annual challenge for the wooden spoon. Many thanks Mr BoJ for taking on the admin. Good luck to everyone.
  19. Locals tipped off the police who in turn tipped off the prostitutes. A virtuous circle, not to mention a complete waste of money.
  20. This seems to be a similar scenario to the Red Bull heir's situation. Cough up enough money and avoid justice. Both parties deserve each other.
