  1. Prayut wants Xi to come to APEC next month, yet in both Pattaya and now Bangkok the police are demonising the Chinese and stirring up anti-Chinese sentiment. The police are tuned out politically and their motivation seems to be brown envelopes or the amounts inside them. In Pattaya the mostly Thai clentele left the raided club without being drug tested. The club's Chinese owner is being demonised (maybe justifiably). In Bangkok all the mostly Chinese clientele can't leave the building and all get drug tested.
  2. Some are waiting for him to produce consistent match-winning performances but I think this is as good as it gets for him. He was over-hyped when he joined Utd; not least by the BBC in Salford who portrayed him as a Messi/Ronaldo hybrid. Not the lad's fault, of course, but unhelpful. Fact is - if he was top drawer he wouldn't have been let go by City. They got a % of the sell-on fee when he left Dortmund. Good business for them, not so for Utd. He will probably end up at Everton or some other non-achievers.
  3. The place was busted for late opening earlier this year when it was called Bone. It should have been closed down then, in theory. They have changed to their current name only in the last couple of weeks.
  4. Why should any tourists be concerned? None were injured or involved in this fight between 2 Thais.
  5. This place has just changed name, it was previously called Bone. It is on Soi Pettrakul (correct spelling) behind Terminal 21 and was busted earlier in the year for still being open at 5am. It was also open last NYE even though at the time it was still forbidden for nightclubs to open. There seems to be some long running dispute with the BIB resulting in these sporadic raids. It seems the issue is in regard to the size of the brown envelope. Incidentally, there are a lot of Thai beer garden type places on that soi and I doubt they all close on time.
  6. He's pulled out; a first for him.
  7. He would love what they have - unfettered, lifetime control backed by the military with no more than a passing nod to democracy and human rights. At least he has the sense to know it won't happen for him.
  8. I seriously doubt if Xi or Macron will show up. Xi does as he pleases in the region so will send a deputy. Things are boiling up in France and Macron will need to focus on domestic matters with a looming election.
  9. The Times reporting that Boris will stand. Should be an interesting week.
  10. Because it is cheaper: massages, restaurants, bars, cafes. Hi Rollers make up a tiny minority of casino guests, most are ordinary Joes ( or Joannes) on a budget.
  11. The report cites an accident as the cause of the blaze when infact it is gross negligence on the part of the digger driver.
  12. BBC say Grant Schapps was in charge of the spreadsheet that listed those MPs who wanted Truss out.
  13. Suella Braverman, politically just to the right of Gengis Khan, has departed as Home Secretary per BBC. Grant Schapps being touted to replace her. Rats. Sinking. Ship.
  14. I went last Tuesday; Monday was a holiday; at 8.30 to do my 90 day report and was away by 8.45. There were no queues either to get in the main building. It seems to be a bit of pot luck involved and a big amount of holidays for this, that and t'other.
  15. He is not coming to Thailand; suggesting otherwise is delusional. To hope he comes is bizzare.
  16. How can unknown suspects be charged with carrying a firearm without a permit?
  17. That could come in handy.
  18. Will the Thais keep coming to Pattaya in such big numbers once the Chinese are back in full force? I would say not; there was a lot of anti-Chinese narrative around before Covid. Also, some popular pre-Covid holiday destinations for Thais are opening up, Japan for example.
  19. It's story time.
  20. There was a young feller called Kwasi, Who flushed the pound right down the khazi, His boss PM Liz, Got in such of a tizz, She sent him away to Benghazi.
  21. Putin's fault today. 4 minute speech followed by taking 4 questions from the press. She left in a huff.
  22. Confirmed. PM press conference at 20.30 Thai time.
  23. A lovers' tryst? They're not going to get to the "run away together to a secret hideaway" part of the dream.
