  1. "Having to do visa runs is very draconian, and many other countries in Asia have long since moved away from it. In my opinion it would be a much better idea if Thai immigration offices issued 60 and 90 day extensions. I for one would be happy to pay more to avoid these dangerous and long journeys to Laos and Cambodia, and the Thai Government would make billions of Baht more , rather than the money going to other countries issuing visas for what is often a twenty minute stay"

    Excellent idea.

Road toll down, fuel imports down, money direct into Thai gov coffers*

    *Well, maybe -

  2. Yes I can't do anything about it if the company wants to cancel the internship, ok I will then have a year delay with my study. I can accept that.

What I am more worried about is my ex-gf's intention. She said she is going to make sure I get problems with immigration or police. She also added that I will never be able to come back to Thailand again, blacklist me.

In this situation, what can I do?

PS. She is sleeping in the bed right now. I am affraid to sleep, she might do something to me. like cut my penis or something. I heard stories of angry Thai women doing that. Tonight I will have one eye open... BUt that is a situation I can handle, I hope. It's the whole Visa/immigration/deportation/blacklist/arrest thing which I am not familiar with in Thailand.

    Been there, done that.

31 stab marks in my mattress. Luckily I wasn't on it at the time - otherwise it would be a mattress of a different colour -

Wear jeans & a strong belt to bed.

Remove / hide / all knives & scissors.

Kick her out (or move yourself) & IMMEDIATELY change the locks.

    VOE (voice of experience)

    Dekky.

P.S. Talk to the company - they prolly would not like immigration to know that they were part of the rort.

  3. Even the poor farmers you claim to be helping and who supposedly love you are now calling for your head. Yingluck, PTP, Shinawatras, it's time to go.

Yes.The farmers are on the march. They were deceived by Thaksin. But now they know the truth and are bent on vengeance. So much for the support Thaksin and this government claim to have in the North.Soon we will see the farmers join up with the heroes on the Bangkok streets for the final countdown. How do I know this? I had it straight from the lips of that great reporter, Michael Yon.

Someone just posted that at least his family in Ubon and an uncle in Buriram got paid just now. Of course the farmers marching are from Lower North and Central districts.

Cash or check? If check, dated when?

  4. Beats me why in this day and age of political correctness it's OK in the western world to allienate 25 to 30 % of the population.

    Yermanee wai.gif

Does not the same argument apply to 70 to 75% of the population? Failed arithmetic 101?

Pisses me off the way diehard smokers, skin like leather, can sit down amongst a bunch of non smokers, then light up & chain smoke, oblivious to families around them departing from what should have been an enjoyable evening, unable to take the stink.

  5. So, her English isn't perfect. There is something to admire in the fact that she has the guts to give interviews in English. How does Obama do in Chinese or Cameron in German? Suthep, of course, will NOT give any interviews in English. While he seeks out foreign media, he insists on using an interpreter. That doesn';t make his ideas any less nutty

Additionally, I bet she speaks far better English than the wives and partners of 80% of the posters on here who are so fast to vilify her.

    Irrelevant.

  6. Thankfully they have gotten this one off the streets. Hope he never sees the sun or blue sky again.

    RIP to little Cartoon.

I for one am very glad Thailand is littered with surveillance cameras and willingly accept this invasion of my privacy. Without this capability to go back and review footage when necessary, scum like this would continue doing what they do.

"very glad Thailand is littered with surveillance cameras"

    correction

    "littered with surveillance camera housings"

  7. After only 10 days the body was reduced to a skeleton and skull? Decomposition was that fast?

Very suspicious. Perhaps the girl was missing long before it was reported. In many cases, if not most, child kidnappings, sexual assault and homicides are committed by people who have close ties or are known to the family. Definitely needs more investigation.

    Stray dogs might explain this.

  8. It is not air in the line or busted diaphram. The symptoms then would be fast cycling - on / off /on / off every few seconds for a busted diaphragm,

What is expected cycling time for a mitsubishi pump. Mine starts about every 12 seconds, but when using high volume tap it also may run continiously until I close the tap.

That sounds about right for the pump with the smaller tank - 2 - 3 litres. For the larger tank underneath, I would expect cycles times of 45 seconds or more, but depends on many things, flow rate, height of suction and outlet, age of pump -

  9. It is not air in the line or busted diaphram. The symptoms then would be fast cycling - on / off /on / off every few seconds for a busted diaphragm, or just not turning off if it is air in the suction line.

Most likely to be a sticky switch. Unplug the pump, find the pressure switch is in a plastic cylinder mounted vertically, ~ 50 mm Ø, ~75 mm tall, on the outlet side. Two wires coming out. Give it a tap, plug pump in, see if it starts. If not, tap it again. If it starts, so you may need a new switch - take some pictures (inc pressures on the label, & the mounting to the pipe) & show them to hardware girl. 3 - 400 baht.

If the pump is getting old the performance can drop - unable to get the pressure up - you might need a new impeller or pump. But this will only show your current symptoms if the pressure has been adjusted down to compensate over time, so now start pressure is too low.

    What brand / model?

  10. The North Koreans take them out back and execute them on the spot. The Chinese may still do that. Maybe the North Korean model is what Suthep is talking about. On the spot, shoot from the hip.

And the family is billed for the bullet.

But they would only have to do 2 or 3, & Thailand would become a completely different place!

  11. First of all Garry Halpin is a member of my family and we are absolutely shocked and saddened by this news. Garry is a wonderful, kind, caring and GENEROUS person who has made some devastatingly bad decisions!

For everyone saying he should be made an example of and should rot in jail, please know he is the sole provider and carer for two young children and you cannot judge someone based on an awful mistake when you do not know him nor know what led to him being put in this stupid situation...desperate times call for desperate measures...and NO that does not condone or justify doing what he did but he has been going through tough times recently. Our family only wishes now that we knew the extent of this so that we could help.

He is not a terrible person, he has just made a terrible terrible choice.

Alphabet - are you discounting the possibility of a setup?

Has he 'accepted' the charges, or 'acknowledged' the charges? Mai muan gun.

  12. "Although the premier did not inform the coalition partners herself, she was quoted as telling her allies that she "had done the best that she could", the source said."

In the 2.5 years she has been the Prime Minister the best she could do was to lead Thailand to the point of no government today!!

to be honest with you and as a totally unbiased onlooker she seems to have handled the whole thing with some class. I think (and it's only my opinion of course) is that this Suthep chap is a first class sociopath. he can't win an election so he tries another way to rig it in his favour by doing his best to rid Thailand of democracy and lead by mob rule, anarchy is the word. He wants to tear down a democratically elected government (which shows what the people think of him, right? They'd rather have a convicted criminal's sister at the helm than Suthep or anybody else) and install an unelected "people's council". Who decides who will be on this council? Suthep? So he wants to be a dictator and some people (like you for example) think this is better than a democratic option? You might be right but back to your statement, it seems to me Suthep is responsible for bringing down the government not the PM.

    "totally unbiased onlooker"

You can't call yourself a ' totally unbiased onlooker' if you ignore a year or few of recent history.

Kool aid coming out your ears?

  13. Same thing to me 2 years ago in Tukcom, right at entrance, where there are several ATMs.

A Russinan man, maybe around 40, asked me to help him, and he asked me the moment I was taking the bills from machine. I didnt say a word, clicked few buttons, for the card to be returned, and then asked him what he needed done. I spoke Russian to him. In few seconds he explained that does not understand ATM options, because there are only Thai and English options. He had Platinum Visa card in his hand. I was standing next to him, he put his card in, I told to enter his pin, and then I pressed for Enlish. The amount he then entered was 100 000. Machined ofc said no, there was long sentence on screen in English to contact his branch, nothing about machine limit. So we did it all over again, this time I told him yo enter 20 000. Machine gave him the money. We repeated this 5 times. He thanked 6 times and kept shaking my hand after we were done.

It is very strange to be interrupted by stranger while withdrawing money at ATM. But it may not seem strange for Russians.

If what happened to you attempt to scam, I dont see how she could have scammed you.

Hoping to distract you enough, so you forget to collect cash? Or forget the card to be returned? I think no. Most likely he really needed help using ATM.

Sent from my C6802 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

There is great vid - CCTV footage from the UK - that has to be seen to be believed.

Guy behind ATM guy drops a note, then pushes it with his foot to beside ATM guy. Then as money is about to be dispensed, guy behind taps ATM guy on the shoulder & says 'you dropped some money'.

ATM guy turns left to look down, third guy behind grabs notes on right, passes to 4th guy, then 2 - 4 guys disappear in different directions while ATM guy looks back to machine wondering why money is taking so long to come out. His money is already 100 yards away, & around the corner.

If you see / know the vid, pls post a link. Lesson for all -
