  1. If you don't tell us where you're living and what nationality you are, it's difficult to advise you!
  2. When you arrive at the pier, there will be people representing resorts and taxi drivers and you will be able to negotiate prices, particularly with the taxis. When I came to KP 11 years ago, I stayed at the Siam Healing Centre, which I would think is about a 30 minute walk from the pier. It's run be a very friendly Thai couple and they have some nice 1 bedroom bungalows, build round a small lake. They would be worth a call just to get an idea of prices.
  3. I agree, contact resorts directly. To answer your question, I wouldn't expect to pay more than 15000 baht for the 3 weeks.
  4. I'm sure you'll find a rental mid March, especially with your budget. It's true that KP is busy right now, but we're bang in the middle of high season. March is generally much quieter.
  5. The ratings on Lazada are very often not worth a toss! For example I ordered 2 Logitech mice recently and received a pack of 5 batteries instead, When I spoke to the seller he insisted that I got what I ordered and paid for and then proceeded to insult me, I took it up with Lazada, who confirmed that I was in the right and promised me a refund. I gave the seller a 1 star review, which was surprisingly his 1st bad review, all the rest were 4 and 5 star. I had to wait a couple of weeks, as the seller eventually agreed the refund, but took his time to process it through Lazada, Once I'd received the refund, I understood why this charlatan didn't have any bad reviews. Lazada took down my review, which was obviously part of the deal in getting him to refund.
  6. I would have thought that pushing him would be better, you don't want your prints all over the fire extinguisher. We would get immense pleasure hearing that the police 'were sure it was another suicide' ????
  7. Yes, I have a 25 year lease written and signed at the land office in KP
  8. You're obviously one of the argumentative clowns regular to the forums!
  9. If you feel well, I'd agree with the expats, your weight is not too bad for your age and I wouldn't worry about dieting. What I do believe, however, is that you should keep your weight as is, don't smoke and don't drink too much alcohol and get plenty of exercise.
  10. It's impossible to form an opinion without knowing how tall you are!
  11. To shed a bit more light on the reason for this poor guy's suicide, apparently he met and fell in love with a young Thai woman in Bangkok and upon returning to Thailand, having been back to Germany, he found out that his gf had found someone else and dumped him. They found his body this afternoon, off of Ko Tao of all places.
  12. Having binged on Yellowstone, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I'm now watching 1883, a prequel of Yellowstone by the same author, Taylor Sheridan. There's no doubt that this guy is a great writer and 1923 and Mayor of Kingstown are on my next things to watch list. In between the Westerns, I've really enjoyed the 2 seasons of The White Lotus and will be looking out for season 3. I loved the locations, particularly Taormina in Sicily, which I visited a few years back. The views from the Greek theatre are stunning!
  13. Cut the BS, you're not American, you can't even speak the language!
  14. I just had a conversation with someone in Lazada's customer care dept, as having ordered 2 Logitech mice with batteries, I only received a pack of 4 batteries, no mice! The seller is insisting that I got what I ordered and when I told him that I would call Lazada, this was his response. ม้วน บอกเราเกี่ยวกับข้อผิดพลาดของคุณเอง ขยะจริงๆ หลงทาง ไม่สามารถจ่ายสิ่งของได้ Anyway, Lazada verified that I was in the right and asked me to fill in a returns form and they would refund me. The point is, that when I asked whether or not they would contact the seller, the answer was no, it's obviously cheaper for them to refund the customer and allow the charlatans to continue their practice.
  15. No, you've still got to do your 90 day reporting
  16. are playing the NETHERLANDS in a 1 day series and are 2-0 up! I wonder who taught them cricket.
  17. My advice is to ask your local post office.
  18. The best and by far the cheapest pharmacy on Koh Phangan is tucked away directly behind the Bangkok Bank in Thong Sala. I have used this pharmacy for more than 10 years and the lady pharmacist is very knowledgeable and helpful. She has never once tried to rip me off with expensive products, unlike certain other establishments on the island! The pharmacy is only open in the evenings during the week and all day on Saturday and Sunday.
  19. I can't believe it, I'm watching racing from Flemington and Old Flame is one of the favourites in the next!
  20. Just had a moment of nostalgia, thinking about an old flame!
  21. I'm not debating, I'm stating fact. The reply by Siam Legal, who manage the website clearly states that "Only income earned inside Thailand shall be subjected to tax during retirement. " The fact that the guy who asked the question was Swiss is irrelevant. My replies are to help individuals who have read your misguided comments and I will let them decide who is the bullsh1tter. I have nothing further to say.
  22. I know you don't speak the King's English Nigel, but I would have thought that this is pretty clear, even for a Yank Article19 Governmental Services (1) (a) Remuneration, other than a pension, paid by a Contracting State or a political subdivision or a local authority thereof to any individual in respect of services of a governmental nature rendered to that State or subdivision or local authority thereof shall be taxable only in that State. (b) However, such remuneration shall be taxable only in the other Contracting State if the services are rendered in that State and the recipient is a resident of that other Contracting State who: (i) is a national of that State; or (ii) did not become a resident of that State solely for the purpose of performing the services. (2) (a) Any pension paid by the Contracting State or a political subdivision or a local authority thereof to any individual in respect of services of a governmental nature rendered to that State or subdivision or local authority thereof shall be taxable only in that State. (b) However, such pension shall be taxable only in the other contracting State if the recipient is a national of and a resident of that State. As I said, UK pensioners with no earnings in Thailand are NOT taxable here
  23. My advice to any UK pensioner, reading this bullsh1t is, as long as you don't earn money in Thailand, keep your pension earnings to yourself as you will never be asked to fill in a Thai tax return! You are NOT taxable here.
