  1. No its not and regardless of what the numpties believe, I'll carry on getting my full pension my way😉
  2. I don't believe they would because it would be a waste of time. The passport holder is the the only person that has the arrival and departure records inside the extra pages.
  3. Work it out superal. You download a copy, print it, get it signed and return it to your partner in crime who then puts it into the brown envelope and posts it.
  4. For those of you that are already living here, as far as the uk gov is concerned, youve missed the boat I'm afraid. For those who are thinking about retiring in Thailand, here's some advice on how to keep your pension up to date. 1) Keep your UK bank account open to use for the payment of your pension 2)You need an address where HM Gov can write to you (a family member, an ex wife who still loves you😄 for example) who will e-mail you the correspondence, particularly life certs, which you can download, print and get the local pharmacist, for example,to sign and stamp. 3)You have 16 weeks from the date of the letter accompanying the certificate, to return the certificate IN THE BROWN ENVELOPE, which your co conspirator must keep and post when he/she receives the signed cert from you. 4)Keep a record of the dates of correspondence in case you get a letter from HM gov asking you where you have been living for the last year. You have to tell them you were in Thailand when you were sent the L.C. for example. I don't believe that you will be asked for proof of where you were living (I wasn't), just make sure you don't drop yourself in it. Remember that the Pension service is very busy and that they're not going to waste time chasing a few quid. In 12 years I've never been asked why some of .my life certificates have been signed in Thailand.
  5. Top of my list is Barbados. I spent the best part of 2 winters there, before I came to Thailand and I loved every minute of it. Fun people, great night spots and restaurants, a fantastic climate and beautiful beaches that you could, very often, have to yourself. On both occasions I rented inexpensive apartments for 2 and 3 months and if circumstances had been different I'd probably be living there now.
  6. Nope, guess again! I'll give you a clue, it's not in the UK😉
  7. My UK state earnings related pension is now £14,000 per annum and as I've just turned 80, I reckon I've got nothing to complain about.
  8. Don't worry, it's only a dream!
  9. To have the power to eliminate the scum of the earth.
  10. Seems like you took the bait doesn't it!
  11. I reckon he's an Aussie, these days they seem to use mate more than the Brits
  12. I've been reporting online since we were given the option, but I too have had my last 2 reports refused. I really thought that after all the problems, in the beginning, with the online system,we were finally out of the woods. Unfortunately, if it works don't try to fix it doesn't seem to work in Thailand, more like if it works, let's f...k it up.
  13. It sounds like the only good thing to come out of this, is that a loan shark has been shafted
  14. He could have been shot before he fell.
  15. It's probably been mentioned already, but having enjoyed The Gentlemen movie, I've binged on the series for 2 days and I can only say that Guy Ritchie's done it again, it's f....i ng brilliant!
  16. Most foreign currencies are doing very well against the Baht, I just got 46.2 nett for my pound for example, which is the best for some years.
  17. What realism have you accepted, that you're going to die during the next 5 years? Most people, including me, consider themselves lucky reaching 80 and we realise that we are in the later stages of our lives, but just remember that we are a long time dead, there's no rush. Do your best to stay reasonably healthy and we'll speak again in 5 years time!😉
  18. Thanks for telling me, I turned 80 last week. I didn't realise my life was almost done!
  19. I think it probably depends on where you are transferring from. I use Wise to transfer from the UK and their exchange rates are excellent and the funds from the online transfer arrive in seconds. If you were to transfer sterling now you would get 45.54 nett to the pound in your bank. The op's situation requires knowledge that we don't necessarily have, hence my comments. He's not going to buy anything anyway, so we're arguing about nothing.
  20. I just bought an Asus Vivobook 16 X1605ZA-MB332W (Indie Black) from Advice with the following spec ; 16.0 inch / Intel i3-1215U / 8GB DDR4 / 512GB SSD / Integrated Graphics / Win 11, priced at 13990 thb and so far so good.
  21. So far, you haven't found anyone smarter than you on here, mainly guessers as far as I can see. Talk to Wise, talk to the banks and check the regulations with the land office before you do anything.
