    Insensitive or ignorant ?

    You'd really have to talk to the person who put that on his car to determine the level of their insensitivity and/or ignorance.

    I have decided to not confront Thai people on this stuff. It's a growing trend. I do STARE though.

    Most of the stuff I am seeing in Pattaya is EXPLICITLY Nazi/Hitler/even racist stuff.

    Because its Pattaya lol

    Thai universities drop several points in latest world rankings

    These threads always produce the trolls who love to slag all Thai universities with the same tar brush. But, I've been at Mahidol for 11 years and it is a quality institution. Some of the faculties are truly world class (medicine, science, music), some are quite strong (MUIC, CMMU), and most are average. There is not grade paying here, although I have no doubts it happens at other institutions. Our biggest challenge currently is that the slide has occurred under our new president, who is an unimaginative bureaucrat, especially when compared with our previous university president, under whose inspired leadership saw MU rise to that 256 marking - with innovative polices and plenty of "Tough love" for all faculties. Hope we can get back up there again.

    Sorry to interrupt your "All Thai universities are terrible" diatribe - please continue, with my apologies.

    A "teacher" married to a "policeman" lives across the street from us. She "teaches" pre-schoolers." She proudly wears her govt. uniform and makes sure her new car is always clean. The govt. made the loan for the car and requires minimal payback. But the LOOK she and other car driving teachers present is remarkable. Unfortunately they do not TEACH adequately. SHAME for their impact on the youth of Thailand and the country's forward movement into a fully modern democratic society. I'm glad I am NOT a teacher in LOS.

    Do you have direct knowledge that your neighbor is not a good teacher? Or are you just libeling her in an effort to embolden your generalization?

    I think its a great idea except in BKK. The traffic here is too congested and I would fear for their safety. I ride my bike on some roads here and it is not easy. In less populated areas i think its a great idea, putting in a few bike lanes would certainly add to safety and ease congestion.
