COVID infection risk raised back to ‘Level 4’ in Thailand
arithai12 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Sorry, possible does not equate certainty. A lot of things are "possible". I could give many more details about the specific example I made that would make it "possible" that the heart attack was not related to covid, but that starts to be beyond the point. Detailed death certificates which capture... please. Certainly not in the case I quoted. -

An older relative was found dead while alone at home, the diagnosis was heart attack. After the fact he was tested and found positive. He is written down as covid-related. -
COVID infection risk raised back to ‘Level 4’ in Thailand
arithai12 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I know several people who got it recently, both in Thailand and in other countries, confirmed with "positive" tests. Little or no symptoms, all of them negative after a few days at home. This includes people of 80+. -
COVID infection risk raised back to ‘Level 4’ in Thailand
arithai12 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I don't care very much if there's a surge in headaches. I don't think it's reason to shut down a country. Yes, some people are dying of covid, it cannot be denied and it's sad when it happens, death is death. But they never tell us the details of these deaths: vaccinated? If so, how and when? Age? Pre-conditions? When did they seek help? And most importantly, how does this compare to the number of preventable deaths from road accidents, pollution, alcohol (not just the drink, but the intoxicated behaviour). No one is banning all vehicles because of average 70 dead/day including very healthy and young people. I think the Thai gov't is caught between a stone and a hard place. They want to re-open, but they have to face half of the population (mainly those on fixed income) who want zero-covid and believe that it's an imported disease that will magically stop if you close borders. Let's get our lives back - though less Chinese group tours would be nice. -
Inexpensive substitute for atorvastatina 40mg in Thailand?
arithai12 replied to pub2022's topic in Health and Medicine
I take 1 rosuvastatin / day, 10 mg. one pill translates to 52 B at Bangkok Hospital, where I also get other medicines prescribed so it's handy. My insurance refunds 80% on prescriptions. So I spend effectively 312B out of my pocket each month on rosuvastatin. I can deal with that. -
First, if you test positive with self-administered ATK, you are supposed to inform the authorities. I know, most won't, ok. But in general, whether you want to self-isolate or break a leg or something like that and cannot show up at your booked hotel for day 5, it's not difficult to pick up a phone and inform them. If you are in such bad state that you cannot make a call, I guess you have other more pressing problems than this.

COVID infection risk raised back to ‘Level 4’ in Thailand

I understand that senseless bashing is the motto on this forum, but at least please get a minimum of facts right. For example, check what the leaders of WHO and the USA were saying about Covid in Jan-Feb 2020, after China had already announced the outbreak and had "that policy in place". -
Biphasic sleep is a condition, perhaps it's what you have OP. If so, learn to live with it, it's not so bad - it was actually the normal thing when humans lived in a cave in northern climates, no one could sleep through 18 hours of darkness. The key is that you get enough sleep, even if split in two. So instead of staring at the ceiling for 4 hours, do something that makes you sleepy (reading, watching tv).

Thailand includes Sputnik Light in quarantine-free entry program
arithai12 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Saying that they have a high rate of positivity is not equivalent to saying that Sputnik is worthless. btw, there are several vaccines available in Russia, not just Sputnik. As for your last sentence, what I read was that Scholz the german chancellor refused to take a test on arrival, hence the distancing. -
Police Sued for B72m for Doctor’s Death at Crossing
arithai12 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I suspect they got a compensation from the family already, probably more than the lady doctor's family will receive in actual practice. -
Police Sued for B72m for Doctor’s Death at Crossing
arithai12 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The poster you quoted was referring to a Thai doctor in general, any doctor, not just the unfortunate lady. Indeed, I am also a bit puzzled how they reached the figure of 200M Baht in future earnings. Maybe by making some assumptions on her future career moves. -

Bangkok set for official change of name to "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon"
arithai12 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thai people write using Thai script. If anything, the problem is with the representation of their alphabet in other languages, e.g. in English. The obsession is with us, not with them. And it is not limited to T/TH, just check out in how many ways users of this forum write "sawasdee krup" or "mai bpen rai". btw, speaking of English, it is just about the most irregular language concerning writing and reading. -

Improvements being made to Thailand Pass for convenience of travelers
arithai12 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
ok it's excessively complicated, and should be scrapped. However some of your assumptions are wrong. The choice of hotel and price is yours, certainly there are options below 100$. You can have your day-5 test anywhere you want, not necessarily where you got the day-1 test. If you are asymptomatic and do not fall in a risk category, you can self-isolate at your hotel or your own accomodation if you have one.- 127 replies

arithai12 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
While all the western young ones with ED visas, instead, stick to their teaching schedules and leave promptly on the last day. We should not generalize, good and bad apples everywhere. -

The bank letter is an absolute requirement. Passbook: even if you don't have it, it should be possible to print out statements from your online account or even better the bank can do it with official stamp. In my experience, the bank staff that prepares the letter for immigration has extensive and up to date knowledge of what is needed. You could ask them about your situation.
