  1. I have no knowledge of these medications, but in general I found that different hospitals have different prices, varying by almost 2x. When you say "hospitals" have you tried a few? Also, some hospitals have a posted price but then they give you discount at purchase if you are a member or such. Medicine A can be more expensive at Ram than at BKK Hosp, an medicine B the opposite. I have also tried to compare the hospital prices to pharmacies, I did not see any significant savings to be made.
  2. The thought occurred also to me, but the story still doesn't make sense. You rebook your flight for 3 years at "great expense", this is perhaps your last chance to see your old and ill mother, you fly 30 hours, they tell you to spend 8000 Baht (and admittedly, one week in a facility) and you prefer 14 hours in transit and return. btw, during that transit time he might have been well able to produce the correct documentation in print.
  3. So basically you have no clue. What does it mean "checking people"... they take the temperature? they do so at almost every establishment in the country. they check your vaccination? does it mean 50% of the village cannot leave their homes? they run an ATK test? your village must have a very solid budget.
  4. OP, you do realize that one comment from one guy about one immigration office doesn't mean much. You would need at least 10 reports to form a judgement about one particular office, and even that is not a guarantee of anything as people can change. You qualify for extensions, period. So choose a city that suits you and your wife regardless of Imm. Best wishes for your move.
  5. If people chose their destination based on principles, there would be very few places left to visit. Taxi rip-offs... try a cab ride in Europe. Assorted indignities? Frankly I don't see many saying "oh, I was about to go to Thailand, I was undecided, but now this extra 8Eur, definitely not". Also we don't know how it will be implemented. If included in the ticket price, no one will know. Dual pricing is a shame I agree, especially when the difference is sometimes really large. I believe they were pondering about that, though I wouldn't hold my breath. Anyway, just don't go to the park as I do.
  6. Meanwhile, airports all over the world charge us hundreds in "security fees" and such, but of course that's not a cause for complaint. Years ago I flew with Lufthansa out of Munich using miles, I had the choice of paying about 150 Eur if economy or over 400 Eur if business, for "airport tax". A luxury lounge too, people fighting 4 around a 50cm table to eat a bretzel while standing. And the check-in counters, ah those lovely smiling ladies. Oh but that's Germany, it's all above board of course. I said Germany but I could make similar examples from almost any other european country, and let's not mention USA where you would dream of a bretzel in the lounge and the check-in ladies are on average close to 60 (years) and 120 (kilos). But let's bash instead about an extra 8Eur charged by the expat-hating Thais.
  7. I don't think it's vague, it's normal parlance. When the base is not specified, it's understood to be 10. At least among scientists.
  8. Innocent in terms of direction. I am not so sure in terms of speed. If the scooter with the 2 injured guys was making a U-turn, it should have been relatively slow. To cause such destruction the momentum must have come from somewhere.
  9. I thought that title belonged to the well-honored sequence of POTUSes of the last few decades.
  10. Indeed, I just tried. Either it has changed recently, or I misread it. anyway good to know. thanks.
  11. Personally, I am not very interested to know how many 100K's are infected with no symptoms or have a headache. I find it good that the gov't will (when?) announce only deaths and serious cases. I hope they do so with accompanying info on vaccination status, age and pre-conditions.
  12. Judging from what I can seen in the video, I have no sympathy for either of them. He behaved like an as*le, she kept kicking even as he was walking away and her point had already been made abundantly. btw, we have no clue on what happened before the pouring. For once, good calling by the police.
  13. Jump as much as you like, but mRNA is not a new technology. It has been used for vaccines (obviously other than Covid-19) for a long time. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/different-vaccines/mrna.html
  14. It seems some readers are confusing mRNA with Moderna - understandably. Both Pfizer and Moderna are based on the mRNA method.
  15. Yellow book quite useful to me, but I'm in a different situation as I own my condo and I am not married to a Thai. Pink ID card, so much has been said already in so many threads. Happy I got it.
  16. Current entry rules: https://reopen.europa.eu/en (some navigation needed). At the moment, there is a plan to lift some restrictions already this month, and to do away with the Green Pass by April. One can assume that by May entry rules might change as well.
  17. Uh oh. I was too early to say you were being ironic. You are serious aren't you? Of course both vax and unvax can carry the infection, but perhaps with very different viral load? Like saying that both Elon Musk and I are able to buy dinner, so we both have money.
  18. True that's important, but the article speaks of 3 different ways of injecting the vaccine your choice. I don't think -ready to be corrected if wrong- that the vaccination papers will have a record of how it was administered.
  19. I had the impression 4myego was being ironic, no need to hit him on the head. btw, in my country the ratio novax/triple vax who end up in ICU is 33:1 .
  20. Yesterday (Feb 6) they were giving vaccines at Airport Plaza, 2nd floor near Uniqlo.
  21. My last trip, I got a metered taxi airport to Rawai beach. When you land, skip the official taxi stands inside the airport (they ask 1000 for this trip). Keep walking to the left, you find a couple of stands offering metered. They start at 50, and the lady said there would be another 50 on top of the meter. Inferior cars I have to say, but ok. Of course the driver tried to overcharge. In the end, all in it was 900. The trip is about 50km.
  22. Indeed, it was recently restarted. It takes about 2 hours Apt-Rawai, when a taxi would be about 1:15 for 900 B. Pleasant ride too, with seaside views from Kata to Surin. The main problem is that trips are limited in number, and are not suitable to catch morning flights out or for late landings. As for main topic, indeed the taxi and general transportation situation in Phuket is a shame.
