Correct. But also recently TP was quick. In November I had to wait a few days for approval, in May a few hours. If it will now be a few seconds, good but all the same to me. And I hope this is my last one, I can't imagine how they will keep justifying TP in the next high season.

I do have one for arrival on June 17, the requirements (fully vaccinated, 10k insurance) when I applied were the same as those announced here from June 1.

Same here, after a long time driving in Thailand, I was driving a car in my RHD home country and for perhaps 15 seconds I drove on the left, luckily it was an empty mountain road and as soon as a car appeared in the opposite direction I realized with a shock my mistake - and a sigh of relief for not meeting the other car at a curve. Setting aside the definitions the main differences are: The former requires 800k deposited in a Thai bank, the latter 400k. There is also another way, to have monthly transfers from abroad to your Thai account, of 65k/40k (not 100% sure about 40k). You are allowed to use some of this deposited amount during each year and replenish it later, but there are rules. As DrJAck pointed out, retirement is relatively straightforward each year, marriage is 2-steps (first under consideration, real extension 1 month later). Marriage also requires your wife's presence, and a number of additional things such as map of your home, pictures of your home together with your wife, sometimes we hear about imm officers visiting... all this seems to vary from office to office. Important: with marriage extension you can get a work permit and be employed, if you so wish. With retirement, no job is possible not even on a voluntary basis. Last but not least, marriage extension only works as long as you are married. I wish you the happiest of marriages, but some people wake up one day to find that there is no more wife. Retirement doesn't have this small risk. Switching between the two is possible, but not at short notice.

Define silly. 10% pa of 800k is the price of peace of mind, and to some of us it's not a big price. Now if you start considering that 0% is actually not true, that your 10% will be taxed in general, that if you want to live continuously here by other kinds of visas you will need travels in/out and repeated visits to immigration, the price difference will start to look even smaller. If you go to a hospital, they still need to register you, take your vital signs, there might be a few in front of you... let's say 15 min instead of 30? Post-jab, at Airport Plaza they told people to wait 30 min, but actually no one was checking. I believe I saw some people sit down after me and leave before me. It might be possible to leave right away, not sure. Personally I had two shots at Bangkok Hospital, and the 2 boosters at Airport Plaza. The first two were of course luxurious, number 3 was a horrible queue but number 4 was quite smooth. I would have probably paid 1,600 to avoid the chaos of #3, but for #4 it would have seemed a waste of money. Anyway, to each their own, main thing is you get what you want.
