  1. Under my regime I will restore peace and order to the people. Happiness every day. I will remove corruption from our ranks. (Not an exact quote but you get my drift from the daily diatribes and diarrhea spewed out

Ummm I remember these words. Nothing yet I can see.

And here is yest more DAILY proof his OWN Appointed and remaining officials think HE TOO is an idiot. Not just us.

So it is here we see the proof it is business as usual and nothing will ever change only now it is far worse.

    How can that be?

you seem to think that the current PM should be held responsible every minor crime committed in the nation. Do you also think that the prior PM should be held accountable for crimes committed by her (allegedly) appointed Ministers?

Previous governments have made this country what it is. HOWEVER it has become vastly different to what it was when I arrived 4.5 years ago. It is far worse and getting even worse day by day. NOT BAD - WORSE. And it is this one man pulling all the strings.

If you think it is acceptable I pity you. Yes he is responsible for the things getting as they are now as it is is HIM who directs and appoints and removes. READ THE NEWS.

  2. When temples become commercialized.

First Wat Pra Sing now Wat Chedi Luang.

Soon they will all charge, which is ridiculous in my opinion.

Money should come form the heart trough donations.

Maybe these big tour buses full with Chinese could make some sort of a collection before entering the temple compounds.

Religion is free and so should it be to go and pray at any church or temple.

Also for the abbot if he want to make money he should consider the tour operator contracts run is from November till end October and are already send out for 2017..

So operators visiting this temple can not inflate their prices any more and will skip the temple, which mean even lesser donations.

40 bath is not a lot , but for a bus with 40 persons it adds up.

I will be looking forward to see how this greedy story ends.

Nonsense, the entrance fee into UK cathedrals and greater churches ranges from ten to twenty Pounds not 40 baht!

Well you go back and pay. In Europe MOST are free. As we say in Oz, miserable pommies!

I hope the THAI PEOPLE really enjoy their new love of China and how generous these demons are. In years to come they will speak of Westerners as those starnge people we once had coming and how life seems to be harder now.

Welcome all you Thia people to your new Chinadom

  4. RIP Mr Harris

One thing strikes me as odd

was last seen on November 23....entry was forced on November 26

A post mortem examination could not establish the cause of death due to the decomposed state of the body
Are 3 days really long enough that cause of death cannot be established?

Well if a weapon is not involved I would imagine so.

Suffocation would cause discolouring of the skin but three days decomposition will do that too.

I'm guessing (I hope) that they submitted tissue samples for toxicology.

Chicog!!! you have been here long enough to answer your own questions. STOP trolling ...LOL. THAILAND getting tissue samples? Police investigating? You know all crimes are SOLVED here very fast too.

  5. The discovery of spoilt milk at schools seems to be a yearly happening. Most times its the children who make the discovery

as they are the ones its served to. If memory serves last year or maybe two , they found out of date milk being sent to the schools.

They just can not seem to keep from making mistakes in some way, either intentional or unintentional.

Have you seen how they store food? In the heat of the day and flies and bugs all ove rit

I have seen my own staff who are educated and lived overseas EATING stuff 2 days later never refrigerated and I mean MILK products.

  7. With every risk there is a consequence, Unelected PM Prayut - O treads troubled waters if he thinks for one moment that national reconciliation can be born by just a few directives and rhetoric , all Prayut has done has muzzled the critics and forced the issue underground , the position remains the same , nothing will be achieved by a Coup , no amount of legislation or amendments to the constitution can alter people's minds , with the track record of the Military Junta so far , the international community must wonder what direction Thailand is going with the road map already covered with wreckage from human rights abuse and freedom of expression on its own citizens, will peace ever come back to Thailand...................................................coffee1.gif

Bootlegging - the selling of alcohol made illegal in the USA for a period of time, FAILED and supply and demand INCREASED because people wanted the product and service. Democracy is the same. Saying and arresting people for doing and saying what they believe will not stop dissent only increase the hazards of not having a public forum to voice concerns differences and allow people to make their own minds ups.

Forcing things underground causes a swelling in the ranks of people who HATE what is being forced upon them and they will follow things they normally would not if given a free and open forum.

This in itself will cause major issues in months to come

  8. NORMALLY, these things are very good to inspire people for new career pathways. HOWEVER, from my 4.5 years in business here all I see is stupid and I MEAN stupid uni degrees in NOTHING, education so lacking and business and career prospects disappearing at a rate faster than a a rat down a drainpipe.

I see people who study 4 years at Uni getting jobs at 7 / 11 because their DEGREE is toilet paper or because in many cases "they are not beautiful enough". Now when does beauty come into a good sense of work and knowledge I wonder. But in Thailand it is IMPERATIVE. Thus all the pretty girls selling cars and things . I am gay so not my market hahah.

But this is the thinking here and my experience here.

So how does a roadshow actually help people with the possibility fo gaining experience and a degree poathway?

    No hope at all

  9. Might want to start with revoking the Computer Crimes Act and rewriting it in such a way that writing 'Ja' on facebook will not get you thrown in jail.

Create a law making even thinking about implementing a Single Gateway illegal.

Ditto for a man in the middle interception and decryption of encrypted data/communications by government officials.

We'll never hear it from the government's NNT. But I'd be guessing, the single gateway, Computer Crimes Act enhancements, government censorship and snooping etc. are exactly what's coming in the pending laws.

Note that the OP article doesn't say anything about the content of the pending laws they're referring to.

It does seem that the government's term "Digital Economy" has become a vanilla-flavor pseudonym for all the 1984 technology type stuff they have on their agenda.

Does anyone really think that promoting freedom of expression, protecting online/technology privacy and expanding/modernizing technological capacity is anywhere in these guys' plans?

These idiots have already throttled the gateways. My business is affected EVERY DAY. It is one of the reasons forcing me to leave. For playing around well I have no issues but for Business I have real issues.

This dictatorship is ruining this country and these laws are being covered up to make things harder. Simple.

  10. ANYTHING is possible with this mule in charge. Aside from the news at hand, my Australian friend arrived Saturday night at Swampy. Tourist Visa OK in you come. The man with his Thai partner coming in on a return RETIREMENT visa had to go through a lot of extra paperwork, complete new forms and interviewed by 2 officers.

More to come on this one.

It's odd how the unintelligent seize any opportunity to show that they're in charge. Imposing themselves on retirees, who in the main spend more money in Thailand than a single tourist, is the perfect mark. After all, everyone knows people want to retire to Thailand because Thai people are wonderful and smart an' stuff.

    W

Winne, we THINK thai people are wonderful blah blah. I AM RELOCATING to Philippines because I discovered after years of protesting to go there, THEY ARE MORE SINCERE and GENUINE. And the islands are far superior - not just nicer - SUPERIOR to those polluted overpriced rubbish shopping malls infested islands here.

YEP I am really over it here OVER AND OUT

  11. Step 1. Create up to eight committees (or whatever number the soothsayers say is lucky this week).

Step 2. Create an "understanding" which can then be passed on to the masses.

    Step 3. Install the single-gateway.

Step 4. Prosecute and jail all red-shirt sympathizers for computer crimes.

Step 5. Shut down all internet based applications not invented in Thailand including: UBER, AirBNB, Grabnnn, Facebook, LINE.

Step 6. Create Government sponsored applications to replace these which require registration via a Thai ID/foreign passport, fingerprints, DNA, and real-time GPS tagging.

Step 7. Make statements about how everyone outside Thailand "understands" the Thai version of the "digital economy".

In all seriousness, I think that given the poor educational systems that the "Thai Digital Economy" might refer to using their fingers to count out change.

They have already done ALL of this except facebook and LINE which they monitor and control

    SHAME on anyone using facebook

  12. All of this generic blathering by government officials about the "digital economy" is pretty tiresome.

Are there decent Thai programmers? If not, the Thais will have to look outside.

The whole thing crosses the grain of Thai culture. I'm not hopeful.

I moved to Thailand 4 - 5 years ago to assist in development of my medical software being done by a friend with 3 Thai staff. He sprouted the virtues of living here. Due to the lack of skills in BASIC programming in Dot Net - VERY BLOODY USEFUL these days, he became frustrated and moved to the Philippines, and he lived here 5 years! 5 bloody years trying! Now he has 120 staff and very good skills in all areas of IT. And I am relocating everything in August for teh same reasons.

It is just a sham here and I feel sorry for the individuals with Uni degrees thinking those degrees are usefull

USELESS is what they are and not even fit to wipe your ass

AND IT IS THE BLAME of successive governments when this country could be so great in many ways but the governments and now this IDIOT is sending it even further backwards

  13. It goes without saying , the restrictions were pointless in the first place , the Junta and the military, certainly didn't make any friends and it certainly didn't bring the country together , evidently what the Coup was designed to do , all through the progress of the NCPO has been a heavy handed approach , however after the Coup of 06 and a good talk with gen. Prem a coup would be the last thing they should have done, invoking the common law of the land would have cured the problems, it would have made some in the population respect it and not think they are above it , exactly what section 44 and the Junta are doing.........................................coffee1.gif .

Might have been pointless to you and me but the whole point to them was that the little general wanted to say "do as your told, I'm the gaffer, and you have the think the things I say and believe the things I say or else". It's a testosterone thing based on the notion that he's God's right hand and smarter than your average bear....

Effective? not in the long term.

    Maniacal? Probably.

Stupid? I think so, yes, but the little general doesn't appear to.

    <sigh>

    Boring.

    W

I remeber 2 years ago the country was split and divided in whom they liked.

I would go so far as to say at THAT TIME with the protesters, 50% in favour of Yingluck and 50% in favour of the army taking over based on the time WHAT this monkey said. A lot of promises that sounded good for the country. Now I would stretch myself out to say that probably 99.5% HATE this mob and would dearly love ANYTHING rather than the Junta who is slowly destroying everything people have come to expect of THAILAND.

I do not think it will ever recover. People gone are people who will not return

  14. Interesting to see if there is a spike in travel by these attitude adjusted dark forces.

What will happen if any go to a country where they can speak freely and do so ?

A reception committee waiting on arrival at Swampy ?

I am concerned less with a reception committee than the prospect of a returnee arriving back only to find his or her citizenship revoked. Let us hope The Powers That Be would not feel the need to resort to such a measure.

  15. Internet bad, stupid people good, information bad, people thinking bad, freedom to information bad, firewall good, control people good.

And these donkeys think controlling the internet, information and everything else is the best way,

Take a look at South Korea, they has the fastest internet in the world by miles,,,, and not so long ago was ripped apart by war, what a accomplishment.

This backwards paranoid pitiful excuse of a government and the elite thinks it is center of the universe and has the divine right to have complete control over the rest of the country regardless of the implications and damage to the people DISGUSTING!!!

and as long as this is allowed to continue then the LOS is going to be left behind and other countries will overtake it..... DUMB AS a box of hammers...

Firewall in I'm out and I think there will be a lot more...

Thailand taking on Google? If they (Google) fold then that is the end...

    We always respect human rights,

where are you junta fan boys? I'll bet you wont stay to long here once your internet is cut, P*ss weak........

I was in favour of this Junta 2 years ago. I changed my mind DRAMATICALLY about a year ago (actually about 6 months in I think) and I hate the mongels now too.

All I see is Thailand being torn apart.

Controlling media and internet does not really control minds nor opinion

I feel there is a BIG change coming and it will be VIOLENT - Very VIOLENT

  16. US and Thai relationships run deep and go back a long way. Even to when the King Of Siam offered his support to Lincoln during the Civil War.

The current diplomatic problems are just a 'speed bump'

This, from Stars and Stripes Magazine.

“Guardian Sea is an excellent opportunity to operate at sea in a realistic training environment with our friends and partners in the Royal Thai Navy,” said Commodore Doug Pegher, commanding officer of the USS Stethemwhich is taking part in the exercise. “Our Sailors gain valuable experiences from these engagements and we build important maritime relationships that endure beyond the exercise.”

What they really wanted to say was

"amn excellent opportunity for our sailors to get a good laugh at stupid people and old crock boats before the real tests come about"

  17. And another resounding endorsement of Prayuth, Prawit and the quisling's favourite, Somkid.

And the hits just keep on coming...

Woot, even the cinema isn't as good as this.

    Winnie

Grow up if that is possible. Not everything is the junta's fault. Plenty of other countries are having economic problems. Oh of course you think that is Prayuth's fault too. I am no junta lover but I try to be real.

Well the lovely General and coy are not doing anything to help.

And can we believe these figures as rightly pointed out by another member here?

14% drop in imports maybe due to farrang exiting? Chinese don't buy up. They already have it!
