The OP wants to do their homework before posting, it is almost impossible to find someone selling lottery tickets for 80 baht, nearly all are now 100 baht, some selling at major sites in big cities are selling them at 120 each. With the wife's family, most lottery numbers are brought on the underground lottery, and I would say it is the same with a lot of family's

Military Thai Air Force Ready to Defend Nation in 5 Minutes
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If another country invades at say, 12.05pm, nothing will get done until 1.00 pm with Thais nothing will get done until 1.00 pm,lunch/food comes first. Think, all government departments close at 12.00 for lunch, even our outpatient depo of the hospital closes at 12.00 for an hour. Would the military be any different, no -
Crime Thailand Prepares to Destroy Over 28 Tonnes of Seized Drugs
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They have a big drug seizure, a lot of photo opportunities and people standing around. Then it is in the front door, and out the back door. Word on the street at the time , probably true the reason for the coup against Thucksin ,he did a lot to do away with drug dealers, the army generals were not happy about the loss of income from selling their drugs, so they got rid of him , Welcome to Thailand -
Disability qualifications needed to modify bike
kickstart replied to Boatman37210's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Do not laugh; why not put a sidecar on a motorbike? That would be safer than riding a solo motorbike. I have had a hip replacement and do not enjoy riding a solo bike, so I fitted a sidecar a few years ago, now, no problems. But, can you get a DL in Thailand by riding a motorbike and sidecar for the test? I have my doubts. -
Israel’s Strikes Leave Iran Reeling Amid Escalating Conflict
kickstart replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Israel is just doing Trump's dirty work and getting away with it, if the USA went in the same way they would be something said. And Trump went back on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, back in 2015 known as the nuclear deal, since then things have got worse, and we are where we are now. Everyone is saying, Bomb them back in the stone age, a look at Gogel, the population of Iran is about 91 million, what about them. -
How Important is grass variety for cattle
kickstart replied to marke985's topic in Farming in Thailand Forum
You are not doing so bad, they is a but, like I have, if your fields are ex rice fields, they could be prone to water logging? Mulatto II is a very good grass, but does not like waterlogging, I have had Purple Guinea, a good grass again it does like a lot of water logging. Forget Ruzi that grass has been about in Thailand for years, about the only grass Thais know, the other grasses you have are a lot better. You would be better letting them graze that cut and cart, but that, as have found during the wet season the field can get poached, leading to a lost time before the grass recovers. They are no truth in they taste being overwhelmed, what the big problem is Thias go for quantity, not quality, they will cut grass that is old and in flower? not palatable at all, grass here n Thailand if the conditions are right i.e. rain at the right time you can get a 45-day cycle of grass, grass then will still be palatable, and they should eat it all. If you are grazing grass, grass needs to be no more that wellington boot height, sometimes if that, cattle will eat it down to the ground, then it will grow back again quickly, I have done a strip grazing system using eclectic fence, works well, but as said, be wear of poaching. Something I have seen on here before ,I do not know how many cattle you have17-18 rie of land all of that down to grass ,that is a lot of grass you will have that palatability problem, grass will grow old and cattle will not eat it ,and with old grass you will not get the cattle growth rates and, cows will not be fertile to get in calf. Or, as we do grow a few rie of Nappier grass, make it in to bagged silage, and feed it during the dry season, but that can be labor intensive.- 1 reply

Why are there no fat cows in Thailand?
kickstart replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Good point, but here in Thailand it is feed and Managment, with the main souse of roughage being rice straw, very little grass is feed to cattle, what grass is feed will rough natural grass very little grass is grown from seed, the average yield for a Thai dairy cow would be12-14kg/day ,compared with 25+kg/day for our cows. Same with beef cattle, they are thin due to poor grass and rice straw. On the genetic side American semen is readily available in Thailand, but with poor conception rate, due poor diet, it is also expensive, semen of less quality and price is used. No hormones are used in Thailand, it has been used, but again with poor feed/ management they were no advantages of using hormones. -
Why are there no fat cows in Thailand?
kickstart replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Wrong, we have crossing Angus bulls on our Thai beef cows for some years now, without any heat stroke problems, and we use to get above market price for our cattle. They are a few Angus X Frisian bulls about looking fit and well. Most of the good quality beef you buy in Thailand are Charolais x Brahman, normally 65% Charolais 35% Brahman. To put things into perspective, most of these things you see grazing beside a road, as has been said, are low investment they are often kept as a bank any family problems, someone dies, Son becomes a monk, they just sell a few cattle to pay for it all. My neighbor has some beef cattle, a few years ago sold a couple of bulls and brought a secondhand tractor for his rice fields, practically no investments. Now he will have to sell more than a couple of cattle to buy a tractor market price is well down, not a of cattle being sold in the hope the price will go up, if it is like past markets they will have a long wait. -
YSS Shock Absorbers - Warning - Danger to Life
kickstart replied to krbkk's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
YSS shocks on a Harly, all the YSS shocks I see are all on Waves etc. are they meant for Haleys? you spend X00000 baht on a motorbike but put on Thai made shock absorbers, why not get the proper ones for a Harly, a Thai dealer should Have them, or can get them ,or order them yourself online. -
That is quite easy to answer can not fall off of one, like a motorbike , and you are bigger than a solo bike and will be seen more readily than a solo bike, less liable to get hit. And yes I know if you go around a left hand corner a bit quick you can flip one over, you soon learn that ,but they are still safer than a solo bike ,I have been riding one now for 7 years.

How things have changed, one time of day Thailand use to export gas, and for the then built power stations, built to use gas. According to Google, Thailand still has 10 coal fired power staitons,9 of which are in privet hands ,you can see they will still be for used if gas gets to expensive, and they must be getting close to they use by date now.

Why are they dangerous?? Back in the day in the UK, if you had a sidecar on your bike, you would get cheaper insurance, as insurance companies consider sidecars safer than solo motorcycles. If you are a Thai with a family, you could well have a sidecar. They are cheap, you can buy a new one for 6000 baht with a roof on, or a second-hand one from 1500 baht. The wife has one and uses a crash helmet all the time. Having been riding motorcycles for 50 years now, I often use a sidecar, I feel a lot safer on one than on a solo motorcycle. The problem is Farangs see them, nearly all are made locally, local bike shops made the wife's, using whatever is available, in their eyes they do not look like our side cars, ie Watsonian from the Uk , they are no good, they work, that is all that counts .

Does our money really build their country?
kickstart replied to Tuco Ramirez's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The BTS system in Thailand was funded through private investment by the Bangkok Transit System Public Company Limited (BTSC), with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) awarding a 30-year concession for its design, construction, and operation. Essentially, it was not a public project funded by government funding, but rather a private undertaking. I thought I was right; the project was funded by Thailand, with the only German involvement being the Siemens trains. Do your homework first. -
UK Inflation Spikes to 3.5% After April’s Surge in Household Bills
kickstart replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The environment, my dear friend the environment, the tree huggers are having their own way, digging and drilling for oil and gas hurts the environment. My job has been in farming, and farmers are getting strangled by red tape, cannot do this and that, they are not farmers anymore, just stewards of the land. -
The government helps out with the school uniform at 320 baht per student but like in our countries school shoes are expensive a pair of the black school shoes for a young student costs 300 baht, which is almost a day's wage for someone on minimum wage. It is still expensive for a lot of families. The family usually rallies around with hand-me-downs, wife's great-granddaughter is using a pair of sports day shoes from her cousin. Same with scouts and guids' uniforms most are hand-me-downs as for the hat, almost the same design as Baden Powell himself.

Yes, I read most days with my morning coffee. I am now reading one of my favorite authors, Ian McEwan. I just finished an Orwell; one I have not read, Coming up for air, next I think will be the king of airport junk, Ken Follett. These e-books do not appeal to me, like the feel of a real book, turning pages, to me, just like looking at a computer. P.S. Does anyone still read books at an airport.

What is the current 2025 Cost of a Cremation in Thailand?
kickstart replied to AngryMan's topic in The Wellness Zone
Bulld 766,is right a lot of depends, the family had a funeral over the new year, that cost was about 50 000 baht, and with what I know, that was about as cheap as you could do it,3 nights with 100 baht in the envelop, each night about 1500 baht, food was cooked by the family, that being a big part one meal on the last night cost 5000 baht, not that much alcohol was drunk, now been to a funerals where you just got a carton of milk and small cake, not a bad Ider, keeps cost down, no one seem to complain they was no "Jog", rice porridge. The funeral pyre was done with charcoal,3 sacks, which is about the norm; one sack is now about 300 baht. As bulld said, there was a village "insurance ", that is funded by members paying 100 baht into a fund for every person of the fund who dies, in this case that amounted to 20 000 baht, not a lot, but it helps, on the day and over the 3 nights, they got about 7000 baht from the mourners, a couple of 500 baht donations most being 100 baht. But a lot also has to do with face, it has to be right, with local headmen and government officials present, the mother-in-law died, just before a big election a prospective candidate came and gave 1000 baht to the family, the Abbot of the Wat gave them 1000 baht. Wife's son-in-law's mother died, they are all just rice farmers, big village do, I was told afterwards that cost 100 000 baht, where the costs went, I do not know, again as builld said, how long is a piece of string. -
