  1. Looking at that photo a 360 backhoe with a small bucket on could dig a hole, it would only take him a couple of hours. Diggers seem the latest thing, I see them being towed about all the time you should get one in for 600 baht/hour ask him to do the job on a price, and he could drop the concrete rings in, most back hoes can go down3-4 meters.
  2. Most European top fruit trees will not grow in Thailand just too hot, about the only place would be on top pf a mountain in the North of the country. Almost like trying to grow potatoes, which I have tried, and they never even put any shots out, also like trying to grow tropical fruits in our temperate climate.
  3. Ambrosia is a tin of rice pudding
  4. A lot /most Triumph parts are made in the UK then shipped here, and the bikes are assembled then exported, I would say it would be the same for most other manufactures. Could Thailand produce a modern-day engine for a big bike, I know you have CNC lathes to do most of the work, but someone still has to set them up, the steel still would still have to be imported.
  5. Been driving past this marijuana farm for the past couple of months, I think they started the farm and gave up, you can see all the plants have gone to seed, further down the shade cloth has blown off, no sign of life,
  6. I would say no, the only hope would be the Paragon in Bangkok, do not even think what they would cost. An alternative some Grany Smiths I have brought can be a bit on the tart side they could be used, but thing about Bramley's is that when cooked they will go down, ideal for apple sauce, I would have my doubts if any eating apples would made a sauce, you could try.
  7. It is missing the heated rear window to keep your hands warm when pushing it.
  8. We have two Shell petrol stations near me, one only been open a year and the fuel is always more expensive than other companies.
  9. Apples in Thailand come down from China, as Dr T said it how they are grown, probable well forced with all the chemicals and fertilizer you can think of. My wife gets them from our local market I find most are OK , last time I was in the UK I had some Braeburn's, they were not nice, tasteless. I used to go down to Malasia a lot down they that have Granny Smiths, they are not bad have seen them around here. I would say the USA is like the UK a lot of the old verities are now gone, just not economical to grow just a few growers growing them, now just verities that just make money taste is coming in a poor second.
  10. I think you will find it was the Thaksin government that made the final payment back to the IMF after the 1997 crash. And I think it was Chavalit that was PM when the crash happened, and the IMF said Choen-Lie Pie had to be PM, knowing that the past two PM's Bann-Han, and Chavalit made a Compleat pigs' ear of the job.
  11. The op is right in my area Lopburi, it has been a bad year very little rain, affecting all crops. But. The investment in new technology bit, has a very long way to go ,farmers are already in debt ,mainly to the BAAC ,the government owned bank for farmers and farming co-op's ,any new technology will be shyed away ,a lot of farmers afraid that it will cost them and may not work ,and as a lot will come from abroad ,with the impot tax for most farmers it will be to expensive for them. Herd last week ,a second hand sugar cane harvester ,imported, has cost 2-2.5 million baht we have a good few about ,using a machine means cane is not burnt ,but now the government has increased the import tax on the machines, and one now costs 5 million baht ,so I was told, way out of the reach of most growers ,so now will more cane be burnt before harvest ??,good thinking on behalf of our government.
  12. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/boncafe-arabica-extra-dark-bean-200-i718534128-s1376080188.html?c=&channelLpJumpArgs=&clickTrackInfo=query%3Aboncafe%2Bcoffee%2Bbeans%3Bnid%3A7 I like this one but, ..........it is a bean, so you will need a grinder, which I prefer, I think the taste is better if you grind the beans yourself.
  13. You are looking for someone for music 80's onwards, I would have thought most members on this form would be more 70's, I know I am, and may be the 60's.
  14. On my desk top I have adblockers, on my mobile I do not, the few times I look at AN on the mobile it is just about impossible to use, full of adverts spend more time deleting the adverts than looking at AN, and yes, they do take up a lot of space.
  15. And God said to Adam "I gave you both a brain and a penis, but enough blood to operate one at a time. "
  16. You just put me back 40 years when I use to use Chestnut fencing posts on the farm, as you said they will outlast us and that is untreated. Re pressure treated pine post I have used them for fencing they will last a good few year's ordinary pine posts in the ground will only last a year before rotting out, just like using Eucalyptus post in the ground over here they just rot out. Treated pine posts, here ,no hope.
  17. New one for me, as I said before most Napier is now Packchon or Packchon II ,it might be Napier variety, but where can you find it . My Napier is Napier Taiwan, have had it for some years now we make silage out of it, now not easy to find, and it makes better silage than Packchon. Have a look at Elephant Grass, similar to Napier but can be higher yielding, but does not like waterlogging, so not a good grass for growing in old rice fields that could well become waterlogged.
  18. If I may ask, what is Kiew Siam.
  19. I did wounder that as well, or will be like a lot of new government's taking office, just cancel what the old government started, saying we cannot afford it.
  20. Two hopes no hope and Bob Hope, it has been worked out they is not enough money, almost in the country to pay for it, as they will find this out next year, when as has been said, it will be paid, then it will we made a mistake and cannot pay for it. I know you can say it will help the economy, but with us livening in a rural area it will be our local town, that is about 7 km, with two 7-11's and now a very expensive CJ, never mind we still have 3 shops selling mobile phones, if they allow this digital wallet to be used to buy things like this.
  21. Welcome back, you have not missed a lot especially the rain, this month so we have had 20 mm, with no more immanent the weatherman said it will rain but non so far for us, it seems the North is getting it all. Maize crops are coming it to flower, no rain no pollen, so a few crops are being cut for cattle feed, a few crops that have had enough rain are being combined yields not so good price is about 7 baht /kg not certain, but moisture will not be that high. See a lot of drones about spraying for Fall Army Worm, cost now is about 90 baht/rie, about the only thing that has come down in price! Some cassava crops have died, mainly the ones that were not irrigated, the ones that where are looking well, a lot about this year price will be down, now it seems harvesting is almost all the year round, use to be a cool season job. Not a lot of rain cane is growing, still a way to go, but yields are likely to be down.
  22. If you go to AN's Maize and Rotational crop thread page 14, they are post posts they about a biogas plant. One thing Nappier is not grown from seed, but from root stock., the main variety is Packchon II.
  23. If they are any left, by the time they have paid off all they debts, and this year not a lot a lot of rain, central regen, lower yields, and higher cost to pump water into the rice fields, like the wife's son in law and daughter, and others, are doing. And how much will the new government pay the farmers in subsidies, if any.
  24. For me would be Shead O'Conner Nothing compares 2U, the original by Prince was miles better, the 2U, she was taking the Mickal out of U2, my favorite band. And nothing to do with the fact, that was number one the day my ex walked out the door. And anything by Michael Jackson, and Wham, and Geoge Mickael is not far behind.
  25. What about Simple Minds, and Big Country..................................................Proclaimer's?
