  1. With China cracking down on most things , things are not so happy ,are we going to see China going under ,unlikely I know ,but if so, not a lot of investment anywhere.
  2. + 1, been vaccanated with both Pfizer jabs .
  3. The bean counters/number crunchers will be in heaven working who has had what vaccin and what to give them next ,that many permutations. I had my second Pfizer jab last week ,the date was for the 15th ,I got 2 phone calls 2 days before saying it will be the 16th ,get they on the 16th ,and they said ,can't find you on the list you should have been jabbed yesterday . Re bean counters ,one person was doing the injecting ,l counted 10 people sat down with laptops doing all the data collecting
  4. Just read this on the BBC website ,I saw him play when he was at West Ham ,a bit past his best then in a deal which Martin Peters went the anther way ,which did not make the Upton Park supporters happy ,but still a good player ,and he left his mark at Upton Park . I would say Rooster will be a bit sad. RIP.
  5. I would have thought they would wait to the end of October ,the end of the Thai lent ,and make that a holiday . They pencilled in a 4-day holiday for the Kings birthday and the start of the Thai lent back in July ,but was ........er cancelled.
  6. Give your local Kubota a call tell them the problem and see what they say, they should be able to give you an estimate to do the job ,as you said labour is relatively cheap here. Ask if they will do it on-site or take it away ,could be haulage costs . I have read on here that the L series was built to cost ,to keep prices down ,so some problems are expected . As FJ would know and other farmers the old Fords built 20-30 years ago were well engineered built to last . I have a local guy ,a one-man band ,I have a Hino tractor the sprigert bearing in the clutch seized, he split the tractor took the clutch apart ,just cleaned everything up 1000 baht.
  7. Many years ago I used to use old corn flake packets for base gaskets on motorbikes ,as you said use a small hammer ,as I said I still make my own for the tractor ,an imported second hand from Japan ,things like this you just can not buy . Photo of the paper I use. this one meter roll was about 150 baht.
  8. Thailand being a tropical country ,Europe and most of America being temperate most grasses do not travel ,the climates are just so different .and will not grow ,one member has grown some clover in a very mixed sward grown as a green manure. Japanese grass is also an ornamental grass. As far as I know Napier grass is about he only one that can be grown in Thailand and Europe ,in the UK it is grown for bi-fuel As for your Hell Moo weed ,Googled it and an old TV post come up with a photo ,if I am not mistaken that Hell Moo weed looks very much like Para grass .or Yar Con in Thai. If it is Para grass the nearest thing in Europe would be a type of Couch grass with the creeping rhizomes.
  9. Your grease the long fibre grease is axel grease ,all right for diffs and slow moving parts . The Vaseline type is HMP high melting point grease the type used in bearings , what I use on my chipper/shredder for the past 10 years about the best grease available in Thailand . Your leak could be because the shaft is pitted, wearing on the seal, and the pits will let oil past them and the seal .I have had this problem on the front stub axles on my tractor ,I put the shafts in a vice and used some wet and dry paper on the shafts to smooth them down to take out the pits out . And you could put the mating surfaces on a very flat surfaces ie. plate glass with some wet and dry paper and flatten the surfaces a bit ,it will not be easy as cast iron is very hard steel ,like said just make some paper gaskets should do the job.
  10. Looking at that 3ed photo looks if they were a paper gasket ?they ,you can buy gasket paper, กระคาษปะเก็น , in Thai ,and you can make your own looking at this not difficult, I get the paper from my locale shop at our market ,I have seen it in Home Pro /Watsado. I have had to repair the front drive units on my tractor and I have made my own gaskets , Using your homemade gaskets and some sealer it should make a seal ,not a vast amount of pressure they as FJ said add some light grease to the oil will help. or use a 120 SAE oil . I would say using any form of gasket would not interfere will teeth meshing .by the time it has been bolted down the gasket would have been squeezed up they will only be a few thou of gasket.
  11. I am certain that I watched it on Thai TV back in 1993. Talk about that nothing changes in LOS ,I am more certain that is the same jumper and jacket he has been wearing since then.
  12. Must agree with Dr T nice fruit,I was at our locale market today ,a guy was selling some Avocados 60 baht /kg he said they come from CM, one of the few times I have seen them for sale outside Big C . I would say not an easy fruit to sell ,most Thai's would not know what they are.
  13. They promised to get in control of the drugs trade, I think they've achieved their objective. Nice earner. It is said one reason why the coup that outed Tucksin happened because he gave the police almost a free rain to do away with drug dealers ,which they did, the wife still talks about it now ,not much of a drug problem where we are then . But the army guy's who ran the drug trade were not happy about it and the loss of income, hence the coup d'étatno not , surprised at the four-fold increase ,where I am now one Yar Bar pill is only a few bahts
  14. It could have been worse , could have been yet another photo copy of ID cards, and Tabeian Bann, house registration book, sent to some local office ,using another hundred rie of trees in the proses.
  15. I have a very basic smartphone too old to do anything ,re downloading and apps ,I just use it to do something called making phone calls . Anything thing else I use my laptop.
  16. The white is the usually used on lawns and by dairy farmers on their grass fields .it is quickly released, and the plant soon uses the N ,most dairy farmers will apply N at least 2 times a year ,depending on the grazing season The P and K are slow releasing fertilizers P is basically ground down rock ,when to apply it when they has been some rain ,on your lawn at the start of the rainy season, it needs rain to wash it in to the soil ,slow releasing ,on commercial farms applied once a year.
  17. Got mine from expatvac yesterday ,after getting a phone call the day before ,get my next jab in 21 days.Lopburi province ,when I was there, they were a total of 4 farangs . Thai tv said that evening a total of 6000 people were jabbed. Let's hope they is some vaccine left for a second jab.
  18. Using chemicals is ok, but the tree stump dies and dries out which it will , it is still they ,just waiting for the local incest population ,mainly wood worm to attack it then if you are not careful they will have a go at your decking ,you will have to keep applying chemicals for a long time . Easier to just get it taken out .
  19. I got my first jab yesterday ,got to the injection centre the Tesco Lotus store in Lopburi, got my queue ticket ,then someone took my Thai ID card ,an hour latter they come for my passport ,then I heard they had stated a new queue ticket system ,got my passport back with a new queue ticket ,then I heard on they micophone system they had started yet another queue ticket system ,my queue ticket had PH wrote on meaning Pfizer, So when my turn come I asked ,and yes they were using two vaccines Pfizer and I think it was Sinovac . A good few people they were in wheelchairs ,and a lot where 60 plus years old ,and a good few where no more than 30 years old It seemed to be run by the main Lopburi hospital ,which made sense not just bringing bus loads of people up from Bangkok ,no blood pressure test beforehand ,a bit surprised ,but told to rest for 30 minutes after the jab .get my next jab in 3 weeks ,I went on my own ,just glad I can speak Thai, but one nurse could speak some English On Thai tv this evening they said jabbed 6000 people over 2 days ,not bad for what I saw they were only two people actually doing the injections . must have upped the rate today
  20. A photo would help , and I can not see you doing anything unless some of the decking is removed we do not know how big the tree stump is and what tree it is ,is they another tree nearby ,or an strong anchor point ,if so dig around the stump and use a chain hoist to pull it out a 2 ton hoist should do the job ,where to find a chain hoist ,ask your local backstreet car repair man ,he will have one . As cooked said it will take a few years to rot out using chemicals ,and copper nails will not work.
  21. It's a small world ,the wife uses a sidecar on her wave for running around ,I noticed the sidecar wheel was leaning a bit to starboard ,then looked at the swinging arm, then the bushes they were well shot ,the sidecar is a local shop made one, the swingarm fitted was well second hand was from a RC 100 ,got a set of new bushes to-day 80 baht . Getting the old ones out will be a job .looks like a home-made puller job bolt and washer though the bushes ,a piece of pipe on the end ,with a nut and washer ,hopefully just do the nut up should pull the old bush out in to the pipe ,have done this before, but not one that has been in they for so long.
  22. I just got a phone call ,come for your second jab ,I said I have not had the first jab yet ,OK they said ,tomorrow between 1-3 pm ,a short window . This will be Lopburi province , not so many farangs hence the short window ,or they are trying to do as many provinces in a day as possibly, so looking at other posters and where they are ,they are getting about .
  23. Dr T knows more about trees and soil then we will ever know. Looking at these posts why not just buy a chainsaw ,a half decent one can be got for about 5000 baht. For our bamboo I cut it with a very sharp axe then use the lopping shears to trim it all up, not difficult.
  24. Before the OP does anything make sure his local office is even open,I want to renew my car DL ,did the now online test ,went to my local office Lopburi, with all the paper work to be told with Covid they are shut, left with their phone number .told to phone when things improve? I would say applying for a new DL now it will be a long wait, my DL ran out back in May.
  25. That reminds me of all the rows and rows of 2-3 story lock-ups about the country ,all have signs outside for sale or rent , They have just finished building some more near me no hope of selling them, the market is just saturated with them ,will it be the same with all these hotels ,photo shots of a dead Pattaya and they want to build more hotels .
