  1. "Thai woman cons rich furniture man out of 7M baht with 'my sick sister with lung cancer' fable" A fable is a story where animals or inanimate objects assume human characteristics, such as speech. It's not synonymous with "story".
  2. Joe Lycett is a comedian, and he doesn't take himself very seriously. He frequently pulls these publicity stunts to draw attention to different things. Like when he changed his name to Hugo Boss just to mess with the company after they did some dubious stuff in regard to copyright infringement.
  3. Here in Ubon, you have to get it from the tourist police. Might not be an option where you are, but perhaps worth investigating if you have no other options.
  4. "Now aged 65 after more than four decades in Thailand he can finally say he is Thai." No, he cannot. He can say that he has Thai citizenship.
  5. Well done by everyone involved. But the Negative Nancy's are of course out in full force, as usual on AN.
  6. Thanks for the input, Captain Obvious.
  7. Of course, plenty of people lead happy lives with former bar girls. But you might as well take precautions.
  8. Calling him stupid will only cause him to dig in his heels. Better to offer honest advice regarding not transferring all his money to the wife's account, putting eventual cars in his name, making large purchases (like houses) after they're married, so at least he'll have a sliver of a change of getting half of it if the marriage goes south.
  9. Different provinces have different rules, but yes, home visits are common for marriage extensions.
  10. Sounds like a recipe for an ear infection, considering how dirty money is.
  11. You can't get a work permit on a retirement extension. You would have to change to another extension.
  12. Not if he makes a 1-year extension.
  13. Did you seriously create a poll with the question, "Do you carry your passport?", without including the answer, "Yes, I carry my passport"?
  14. Something tells me there's more to this story than she's letting on.
  15. The funniest part is that no native English speaker would mistake her for a native English speaker. Her accent is immediately noticeable.
  16. You letting yourself get ripped off is hardly evidence for Thailand not being cheap. And no, that's not a normal price, even for a tourist place.
  17. Is there a queue at the Land Transport Office, or what's the reason for it possibly taking weeks or months, since you already have the documents?
  18. Very tragic, and many balcony railings are way too low in Thailand. That being said, you have to take personal responsibility as well and not expose yourself to unnecessary risks.
  19. Evil <deleted>. Hopefully some people with a sense of justice gets a hold of him before the police does.
  20. "Blocking whole countries seems counter productive as people without VPNs might still want to shop whilst they are on holiday for example." It's absolutely productive, otherwise they wouldn't do it. Should they have to endure countless amounts of fraudulent or disruptive behavior originating from a specific country just because a handful of legitimate websites visitors can't be bothered to use a VPN? The world doesn't revolve around you.
  21. Look up a local buy/sell group on Facebook.
  22. Completely impossible to answer since you're not giving any details whatsoever. "If I go to a mechanic, can they fix my car?"
  23. You were absolutely wrong.
  24. Why? Let him rot in there. Why should people like him ever get the opportunity to live a happy life?
  25. As already pointed out, not doing a factory reset is a huge risk. Beside the visible app that you uninstalled, there's no telling what might have been installed that you can't see.
