  1. Hi everyone,

I've just read on another forum that there's now a picture taken of yourself at the immigration counters entering Bangkok via Don Muang airport.

Is this a joke or not ?

If true, does this seriously increase the waiting time in the queue ?

    Thanks for infos

Arrived this afternoon. No pictures taken of arriving passangers.

That would be Air Asia and Terminal 1 right? Axel posted they starting this process in Terminal 2.

    Yes to all the above

  2. Just to keep the members up to date on 1 year multiple entry Non Immigrant O visas.

I flew to Penang on Thai Air Asia; total cost for the return ticket included all airport taxes was 3748 baht. I flew out on the 7.10pm flight and was met at Penang airport by one of Patrick’s drivers and taken to the Continental Hotel (RM 98 per night). Patrick met me at the hotel when I arrived in reception. I gave him my original marriage cert, copy wife’s ID card, proof of pension and my passport. Two days later I had the visa. Simple as that.

I liked the Continental hotel, it was clean and fairly priced, and it was also right in the middle of Penang night life. I can recommend Patrick, everything went very smoothly and he was professional.

Patrick’s email address is: [email protected]

3748 baht. Is that including the 500 baht international departure tax out of Don Muang ?

Yes that includes everything. I did pay the 500 myself, but I added it to the total.

Congratulations Minbari. My wife and I are expecting our first child in December. I'm very excited about. I'm 48, maybe left it a little late, but what the ###### I will have more time now to take care of the child. That is something I would not have been able to do when I was in my 20's and 30's.

Good luck for you families future.

  5. i feel the same tornado, but that is sort of a farang perspective, isn't it? :o  i don't think my friend should be a doormat, but i don't think confrontation is the thing either.

what it boils down to i think is the guy is jealous of my friend. they are in the same business but my friend's is doing better and that is why he got this big order. plus he had a farang to lend him the money. the guy probably sees this as an unfair advantage rather than "just life".  jealousy can be a sketchy thing in thailand.

when it comes down to it though, my wallet is definitely bigger. :D and i know a lot of thai boxers!

hopefully it will blow over like my previous situation eventually did. which by the way was similar but not the same (MP5).

It's Thai V's Thai stay out of it. If you do you will not have any problem. Keep a low profile and do not lend money to anyone. Anyone, Unless you are willing to lose it.

  6. I just wanna get back into "the 2003 club", where I Belong :o

I have had several id's never been kicked off as yet. Just kept forgetting passwords. My last one was polstar and I think my first was Bulldog. I think I joined in 1642. If I can remember all my id's could you add up all the posts and put me down as joing in 1642. I would really appriciate that.

    Thank you in anticipation :D

  7. :D  I want that smilie where did you get it Jai Dee? would do very well on "the other thread" :o

Back on topic... one of my favourite "alternative" venues in Bangkok used to be an establishment down in Sukhumvit Soi 33 called The Cave. bottom.gif Don't know if it is still operational though... :D

I was told that the Cave had moved to Pattaya near too the Buffalo Bar. Not the sort of place I would be seen in I would normaly wear a mask to a place like that :D

  8. I live up-country in Isaan. Since I have lived in my present house, I have had many requests to find farang husbands for neighbours.

Many of these girls/women can not speak a word of English and have little or no money. Some say that if I can find a farang, they will give me 20% of the marriage dowry, which could be  up to 100,000 baht if the right guy comes along.

I would like to help these girls, and also help the foreign guy get a beautiful wife.

At the same time, I wouldn't want to cheat anyone.

Some of these girls want to form a group and for me to teach them basic English, and more importantly cultural differences. Not the typical bargirl English, but stuff to do with looking after a farang, household vocabulary etc. Then help them to find their husband. They really have a dream - to marry a farang.   Why? Well, one look at the normal Thai guy around here I live is enough to see why.

I have never seen anywhere in the world that has a higher rate of alcoholism than Isaan. They look at the few farang around her that have a nice house, family etc and are not down the pub every night. They see their friends visiting far off places that they will never see, unless marrying a rich guy. Their only way out of their farming life is to marry a "whitey". Some would do anything to fulfill this dream. :o

I know that their are marriage agencies around, and internet dating services. The women around here  can't speak English or let alone afford a computer.

Has anyone ever done this kind of business?

What do all you guys reading this think?

i'm interested in looking for a thai girl freind for a start... tell me how...

Post a picture and your CV and you might be surprised..........
