  1. I expect that Orange Man would feature in this vid!?
  2. What about those who are 'seasoning' 800k Baht annually for their retirement visa?
  3. I met my ex-gf when she was working as a hotel receptionist, I was kind of living in the hotel. Some of my old mates had Thai wives & gf's who were ordinary women with ordinary jobs, they do actually exist in Thailand!😊
  4. I think it was a robbery or bank robbery, something like that. I don't think anything was heard about him again.
  5. If Old Nick were to cast his net in Thailand! Many years ago an old friend 'Sir Peter' was drinking at "The Winking Frog" in Bangkok, and he got talking to a British guy, who looked familiar. Turned out that he had seen him (or a photofit of him) on Crimewatch UK the previous week before heading to Thailand. The guy was 'on the lam' as our American friends say! (I think they guy had alluded to, or hinted at something like that.)
  6. It should be pointed out that a large part of the (working class) population of Bangkok is from Isaan though?
  7. When you haven't got a penny to your name 300k Baht's a helluva lot of money! (Around £7,000).
  8. In my years living in Thailand my old mate Nick had a farang mate who had met and married a Thai lady. They married in Thailand, and after 5 years of living there they moved to the UK. After I think 5 years of living there she received her British passport, and the day after that she disappeared. We all know of these cases, but should remember that there are also good women in Thailand. Another old friend, Gavin has been married to a Thai lady (Nong Khai area) for 15 years and AFAIK hasn't had any problems. He had a nice marital home built on her parents land.
  9. Many years ago in the UK my sister used to foster children who came from situations where children had been sexually abused. One rule was that no male, certainly adult male, was ever supposed to be alone with those kids, however innocent the reason. This was to protect both the kids and the adult male. If the kid had taken a disliking to a man and they were then left alone with him, they only have to say that he touched them, in some way, even if the man hadn't, and his life could be ruined. That rule protected both child and adult alike.
  10. Agreed, I had 2 trips to Japan, the first time for the World Cup in 2002, I really enjoyed it there. They must be the most polite people in the world.
  11. Dollars to doughnuts he looks just like any other regular-guy.
  12. Japan invests multi-billions in Thailand, I don't think insisting on Japanese golfers having to get a Thai visa before travelling would go down very well! There's always Malaysia - Truly Asia instead.😊 Also, the Thais would want to keep it in perspective, XXX,000 Japanese people visit Thaland every year, and probably XXX (number) get in trouble with the law. (Replace Japanese with just about any other nationality).
  13. But that would probably see a big reduction in tourists visiting Thailand...CANNOT!🙂
  14. This happened in Bangkok though?
  15. Many years ago I was in Hua Hin, and was walking in the beach area south of the town. I walked from the road to the beach, maybe 100 metres. It was only once I reached the beach that I realised that I had walked through the garden of the large white house nearby. There was no fencing or anything to demarcate the garden from the public area.
  16. Just that he's a known drugs fiend living in Thailand. Leopards/spots? It's probably beneficial for him that he's being sent back to the UK?
  17. Common on the Phuket coast apparently.
  18. "Intent to supply and dealing. The amount of drugs found on you and whether you have a criminal record, will be taken into account when a punishment is being decided. The maximum sentences for intent to supply drugs are: up to life in prison, an unlimited fine or both for a Class A drug.
  19. Many years ago there were loads of DEA people from the States in Thailand. An old pot-smoking American friend was seriously worried about this. But as one of our funny, mutual American friends used to say to him "I don't think they're looking for some dude with a joint in his pocket, they're looking for the big guys". The guy in question had what I suspected was like a drug-induced paranoia.
  20. Many years ago I talked to a guy in Bangkok who was working for the Australian Federal Police, and who I think was on such a mission.
  21. Leopards/spots. I used to know an American guy who by his own admission used to 'sling dope' in Phillie. I strongly suspected he was doing the same to support his (heroin) habit in Thailand. Working as an English teacher.
  22. Probably already involved in drugs in Thailand though?
  23. Ok, good points. I expect that the Thais strongly suspect that he would get involved in illicit drugs in Thailand, if he weren't already.
  24. Eva Air still do daily flights non-stop Bangkok to London, I was on it in March. Probably a nicer airline than Thai too. I haven't heard of non-stop flights Phuket-UK?
