  1. You conveniently forgot to mention that accidents are mentioned.
  2. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-10-05/thailand-tops-the-list-of-deadly-destinations-for-australians/9020610?utm_campaign=abc_news_web&utm_content=link&utm_medium=content_shared&utm_source=abc_news_web
  3. Yes I remember reading that article with a friend when it was first published, had a larf???? There are rumours that these places will be knocked down a decade before they are, Nana Plaza being another. Someone tells me that the Beer Garden Soi 7 meets the wrecking ball in July.
  4. You sound a bit 'geographically-challenged' there Ryan. Soi 22 is maybe 1km from Cowboy. That was my 'stomping ground' for 20 years.
  5. Many years ago the Australian authorities announced that Thailand was the overseas country where the most Australians had died in the previous year. The most common causes of (premature, mostly younger people) death: Drowning Illicit drugs Alcohol Motorbike accidents (Not necessarily in that order).
  6. Brought on by "Freedom of Movement".
  7. Not really, I've known a few Americans who weren't like that. That's just a stereotype, reinforced by one of their recent leaders.
  8. No issue at all with Americans, in my 20 years in Thailand I had many American friends. What I said was just a kinda joke.
  9. You could always tell the Americans by the glowing halo that hovered over their heads????
  10. There is such a place, it's called "left luggage". It's where they take their brain out of their head and put it in a locker before proceding into Thailand. Not what happened in this case though, RIP to the guy.
  11. This would also mean Russia giving up Crimea, which I don't think will happen. So there's a deadlock there.
  12. I saw something in America a few years ago. Why didn't the cops rush in? It was pointed out that the shooter was using an AR15, whilst the cops on the scene only had handguns. Go figure! ????????
  13. It's just as well that I never became a teacher, because I would've ended up doing this! ???? ???? ????
  14. Zelensky also said that not one inch of Ukrainian territory would be ceded to Russia. the offer was also ignored.☺️
  15. The ex-Soviet bloc countries became NATO allies instead of Soviet /Russian allies, which they found 'threatening', there former-'friends' were now on the side of their enemies. Whenever we see the history of the Cuban Missile Crisis, and what is never mentioned is that the US had previoulsy placed nuclear missiles in Turkey, in the Soviet's backyard. As I said, most people are completely unaware of that.
  16. It wasn't NATO's policy for most of the Soviet-bloc to become NATO members...until it was. I think Putin/Russia feel threatened by NATO expansion. What's NATO's answer to that? Let's make NATO even bigger. And before I get slagged off for making these comments, I don't believe that the invasion of Ukraine is that different to the 2003 invasion (a 'war of aggression' based on falsehood) in Iraq, where maybe half a million people, many of them innocent, were killed.
  17. Vlad doesn't fancy having NATO nukes based on his Ukraine border if Ukraine became a NATO country, and I can't say I blame him.
  18. False flag etc could be instigated by either, militaries tend to love war.
  19. For quite a while now I've thought that there's a 50/50 chance of NATO going to war with Russia.
  20. I have an old friend who does this. (Money's not an issue for him AFAIK). He spent 12 or 13 years doing it the legit way. Surely if one left Thailand and re-entered on a new non-O visa to try and become totally legal again, the Immigration Dept would still have a record of your previous residency in Thailand?
  21. As an old American friend used to say: "On the day we're born we get a ticket to the freak show, if we're born in America we get a front row seat!"????
