  1. Don't bother trying to grow any temperate vegetables. I tried it by getting seeds sent to me from a reputable seed merchant in the south of england. They germinated and grew well but none set seed. I suspect that the local pollinating insects could not recognise them. Stick to local vegetables.
  2. Thank you
  3. I was about to make the same comment, but you bet me to it!
  4. Thank you, I intended to point out that I am near Chiang mai
  5. Thank you. I am a long way from any Tops but Next time in the city.
  6. Where please?
  7. I have been unable to find a new bottle. No luck in any Big C, Makro, Lotus or Rimping. No even in Green's. Has any member seen it on sale anywhere?
  8. I shop a lot at local fresh markets. I cannot imagine the vendors accepting any thing other than cash. Also, I have been often been frustrated in supermarkets when the customer ahead of me tries to pay by using some application on a"smart" phone and repeatedly cannot get it to work, while the neighbouring queue uses cash and clears about 3 customers while I wait.
  9. I only want to cut 2 tiles.
  10. Recommend me a tool shop in Chiang mai where I can buy an attachment to take tile cutting wheel.
  11. Granddaughter wants to go back to university tomorrow, but all the buses to Chiangrai are fully booked. I will need to drive her
  12. Winter will be on a Tuesday this year.
  13. Sister-in-Law bought 4 new tyres for her car because the shop where she got the car serviced, ( offered to change the oil and filters for her but was told not to), told her that they were already 2 years old and no longer safe. They had only done 28000km. I tried to tell her that it was a scam but, no, "you falang don't know about Thai cars". The car is Japanese. r
  14. They do, very well.
  15. I did the same thing 6 months ago. From posting my old PP to receiving the new it took 33 days as opposed to VFS quote of 13 to 15 weeks. Chiang mai Immigration refused the transfer without the authorization letter and I EMailed UK Embassy requesting them to send me one. 12 days later they replied with a brush off, I quote, "we do not interfere in disputes with Thai Immigration Authorities", thus indicating they did not read my communication.properly. Eventually, via the Consul in Chiang mai, I got another EMail address and tried again. This time a different clerk replied asking me if I wanted them to send a form. Again indicating a failure to read my mail thoroughly. I replied in the affirmative and this time, to their credit, It was delivered by Thailand post 3 days later. From 1st. enquiry to receiving the form took 5 weeks The EMail address I got them on was Bangkok Documentary Services <[email protected]>.
  16. Linda Eye Clinic, Mahidon road. outside of the western moat. Google maps brings it up.
  17. Beko has a very poor reputation in UK mainly due to its laundry appliances catching fire. I have no knowledge of their gas cookers but I would be very wary of them. Their build quality is patchy. I have a Tecno bought from Lazada 5years ago and it has so far been trouble free. Incidently, a week after I ordered it, HomePro had the same model on a discount 3000 Baht cheaper!
  18. My 5 year old Brother printer will not print yellow properly. Local computer repair shop (which is not a printer specialist) did a complete clean without result and suggests a repair will cost 3 to 4 k baht which is more than I paid for it. Can any member suggest a reliable printer repair specialist in the Chiang mai area who may be able to fix it?
  19. I would add, primarily concerned with filling their own pockets
  20. Try to find and watch videos of "Father Ted". That is Irish humour at its best.
  21. A large number of tourists in Thapae and riverside last night. Outnumbered however by Thais. It was very crowded. Unsurprisingly Tourists were unmasked but Thais and, I suspect farang residents nearly all wearing masks.
  22. A family friend (Thai) gave me two large bottles. They are Chang and four months later they are still in my fridge awaiting his return. I HATE Chang!
  23. the fault happened.
  24. I replaced the tyre outer and left the third tube (repaired ) in. There has been no recurrence of the fault, although I did get a bougainvillea thorn puncture later. I still cannot work out why th
  25. Wife wants to visit her pal in Buriram for a few days at the end of November/beginning of December. Google brings up flights via Don Muang, bus service (but no details for fares nor times) or train ( long journey via Bangkok). Has any member made this journey and can share details and/or advice?
