I have even seen (and I do not expect that I am alone in this), a policeman riding with no helmet while appearing to be writing something on his phone, so not paying any attention to the traffic around him. Very sadly, Darwin's Law of Natural Selection may ultimately apply in all these cases.

I recall a close call as a pedestrian crossing Beach Road Pattaya, which is (supposedly) one way only (heading south), as I focused solely on the oncoming southbound traffic and was almost hit by a bike heading north. Agreed. It is hard to ride a big bike truly safely in LOS. That would certainly be the case for me (with over 50 years of riding experience) as it is so very hard to ride a big bike slowly and never give in to the temptation to ride more quickly. The issue is not the rider's lack of skill, but the complete lack of discipline of other road users. Sooner or later something will happen totally unforeseen which, at 50 kph can most likely be avoided/survived, but at 200 kph is a shortcut to "RIP".
