    This reminded me of an incident when I and my wife were holidaying in Chiang Mai some years ago. My wife (Thai, but not from Chiang Mai) remarked that the people of Chiang Mai could have made Khlong Mae Kha more attractive to locals and visitors by introducing ducks to the waterway (as there are on many canals and rivers in the West), but then she realised that it was not workable because "Thai people would eat the ducks".

    You can run an Android emulator such as BlueStacks on a Windows desktop which enables you to download and run many smartphone apps. Be aware though that these can be resource hungry and can slow your computer.
