  1. I searched those dates on Kayak with checked bag and cabin bag. Cheapest was Eva at £699, Next was Thai at £802, BA most expensive at £978. Both Thai and BA were overnight flights both ways. The last time I flew with BA I was very unimpressed with the service (and tbh, that's the reason why I have never flown with them since), so I am not tempted to pay more for BA than with Eva or Thai.
  2. The central tenet of Thai culture.
  3. I am certain that Thailand is 100% an open and fair democracy, not a kleptocracy, nothing to see here. Move along. In a kleptocracy things are done so that money keeps flowing to those in control, completely unlike events in Thailand! … Money makes the world go around The world go around The world go around Money makes the world go around It makes the world go 'round. The clinking, clanking sound of Money money money money Money money money money......... … Money money money Money money money Money money money Money money money … Money money money Money money money Money money money … Money money money, money money money Money money money, money money money Money money money, money money money Money money money, money money money......
  4. Power Outage Sparks Investigation Shouldn't that be "no sparks" investigation"?
  5. RIP Luen. A million and one ways to die in Thailand.
  6. Antarctica? I'd book my holidays there if it wasn't so bl**dy cold!
  7. Pattaya rebranding as family-friendly destination to boost tourism What, AGAIN????
  8. As a Roman Catholic, nothing of course. I did hear that the Pope was about to agree to a proposal, supported by several Cardinals, to allow Roman Catholics to use contraception, but the proposer withdrew at the last minute.
  9. I think that could vary depending on whether you refer to the heart rate of the person donating the sperm or the person receiving the sperm?🤣🤣🤣
  10. My heartbeat at rest is usually between 45 and 50 bpm, and has been for as long as I can remember - probably over 30 years. On every occasion that this low heart rate has been measured, most recently at my annual health check, I have been asked whether I am "athletic/gym bunny etc." - I'm not! But I'm still here more than 30 years later so I guess the slow heartbeat is no real biggie. I'll worry when it stops.
  11. Does anyone else wonder whether the source of much of Google's health mis-information could in fact be doctors who make such postings to keep the $$$$$ rolling in?
  12. When I was young my father said 'Son I have something to say' And what he told me I'll never forget Until my dying days He said son you are a bachelor boy And that's the way to stay......
  13. Agreed. I was surprised at such a light sentence. Judge a football fan perhaps?
  14. "Record Tourist Numbers" Cue the anti-tourist demonstrations?
  15. A non-story. Bangkok is listed as 30th "most dangerous" out of 60 cities, or inversely 31st least dangerous out of 60 cities. Pretty average really. In the article Bangkok is 30th and Paris and Brussels are slightly safer at 31st and 32nd, but Milan at 26th and Rome at 28th are less safe than Bangkok. Out of those choices I know where I'd rather be!
  16. "...human intelligence" If only there was some.
  17. You can't take it with you, so just enjoy it while you can.
  18. It is likely that the law requires an autopsy in cases where the death in not attributed to an ongoing medical issue.
  19. Pattaya: World class family resort.
  20. Possibly you just encountered today's little Crowdstrike outage blip?
  21. Lol. That made me recall a (non-PC) joke from my schooldays, set in the school playground just after the Christmas break when the children of varying religions were asked what they did on Christmas day. Most of the children recounted tales of the presents that they had received etc., but when the Jewish child was asked and he responded "Well, as you know, we don't believe in Santa Claus, and we don't get any presents, but my Father has a toyshop, and every Christmas morning the whole family visits the toyshop. We spend a few minutes looking at all the empty shelves, then we all sing one chorus of "What a friend we have in Jesus" and then we go home!"
  22. Because there are always other people who will pay their medical bills - GoFundMe etc..
  23. My Maternal Grandmother's (B 1897, D 2004) claim to fame (or perhaps infamy!) was that when she was working at a hospital in Washington State, most likely in the 1920's or early 1930's, she was introduced to Al Capone. She said that he was nothing like the way he was portrayed in movies. Her words were that "He was beautifully dressed and had beautiful manners".
  24. Ask your employer for help. I expect that they don't want to lose an employee over paperwork issues. Palm-greasing is a likely requirement.
