  1. Well, a year later and Dortmund made it to the Europa league with ambitions to win it. Also, only 5 points behind Bayern Munich, which can shrink to 2 points with the upcoming match on Saturday. Dortmund vs Bayern )

Which brings me to my question...

I am in Bangkok / Nonthaburi over the weekend and the place I am staying does not have a good or reliable internet connection, but would love to watch the match.

Is there any updates who will or possibly will show the match live? It will start shortly after midnight Thai time.

  2. Well, the hackernews article basically claims a lot and backs it up with links to their source....but guess what? Their claim that apple knows / can unlock the phone is posted without any link or explanation whatsoever. Interesting though, I also read on hackernews, their opinion on the creating a backdoor:

Here we support Apple policy not to help break its users' encryption, because once a master key is created to unlock that particular iPhone, we're sure that the US government will misuse this power and demand for the key again and again in near future for unlocking other phones.

You may want to add "thehackernews" website to your million other websites you need to block, because they are obviously full of dimwits whistling.gif

So, what is your take that you are using a microsoft phone, eventhough they are supporting Apple in their battle against the government?

  3. People, stop wasting time replying to this troll. Just stick him in your ignore list, then perhaps he will go back to playing his computer games.

Too easy right now...he is just digging himself deeper into dim-wit land :)

Bill Gates sides with the government. Analyst ask, is Apple using the issue to promote its marketing strategy?. 2015 marketing budget 12 billion US dollars.

    I've a Lumia 909, from Amsterdam,it works, battery can be a bit...ummh.

For the troll: Super charge your isheep iOS 8 4G device in the microwave for 30s.

    1. Show the source saying that he is siding with the Government.

    2. Bill Gates is not active with Microsoft anymore...just an advisor. CEO of Microsoft is Satya Nadella

    3.

technology companies should not be required to build in backdoors to the technologies that keep their users’ information secure.” The statement was tweeted by Microsoft’s chief legal officer, Brad Smith, and then retweeted by Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella.

So, need ANOTHER new phone and computer? :)

  4. There you go, this is mine:

    post-183512-0-73483100-1456807040_thumb.

    Now show yours ;)

And tell me which phone and computer I should use if I do not agree with Apple's refusal of complying with the FBI demands? I mean, you started this topic, so I would assume you have thorough knowledge of this topic and can advice how not to be a dim wit.

  5. tominbkk

Have you no respect for data protection?

I'm sure he does. So do I. That's why we would just love to know which which phone and computer / operating system you use, so we can follow suit. How dare those big corporations stand up to the US Government demands. We absolutely support your view.

    Which phone do you use?

  6. Very nice indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Really small for that amount of storage.

For me it has 2 "flaws"

    - it would be nice if it had a small housing for the usb connection cable within the case.

    - the price tag

I am perfectly fine with a portable 32gb usb 3.0 stick, but if I were in need of more portable storage, I would give this some serious consideration :)

  7. For the hoodwinked dim wits, you are being misled, insulted and like sheep you believe it.

    The judge actually ruled that:

Apple's reasonable technical assistance shall accomplish the following three important functions: (1) it will bypass or disable the auto-erase function whether or not it has been enabled; (2) it will enable the FBI to submit passcodes to the SUBJECT DEVICE for testing electronically via the physical device port, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other protocol available on the SUBJECT and (3) it will ensure that when the FBI submits passcodes to the SUBJECT DEVICE, software running on the device will not purposefully introduce any additional delay between passcode attempts beyond what is incurred by Apple hardware.

    Great info. Thank you.

So, which phone will you use now?

Again, which phone are you using now or plan on using since you canned your iPhone?

  9. By the way Mr shame on Apple and throw Apple products in the bin ( can you dig it out and send it to me? I'll pay for shipping :)...

What will your next phone be? A Samsung, which has android on it? Android = Google product.

Google is supporting Apple in their FBI dispute. So is Facebook.

Microsoft phone maybe? Not sure yet where they stand, but probably also at apples side.

So, which device and software will you use from now on?

  10. I'll bite...

First, I do use apple products, but don't consider myself a fanboy.

Sure, even Apple products are vulnerable to attacks / hacks, but it seems a lot less likely and more difficult. But that can change in the coming years as it is becoming more and more popular.

Regarding the FBI and Apple "dispute", I have been wondering what the real reason behind all this is. I don't see it being a marketing strategy...does Apple REALLY need that? Especially such a sensitive situation that could divide even their own people ( Apple product users ) and not to mention new market as China that like to control everything.

If it were so easy to hack an apple device, why doesn't the FBI just take care of it themselves behind the scenes without the world knowing?

  11. First off, I live in Ubon Ratchathani where we have one authorized Apple repair shop.

I went to that repair shop to have the battery of an iPhone 5s replaced. With her limited English, she was saying they don't or can't replace the battery for a 5s. They can however offer a trade program, where I give in the 5s and receive a "new" 5s....total cost 12,000 Baht. Obviously completely unacceptable. I was trying to find out if they just don't have it in stock right now and she confirmed again they can not replace the battery for the 5s. She said iPhone 5 yes....iPhone 6 yes, but not 5s.

That sounds really odd. Can anybody offer any clarity on this?

She wasn't trying to scam, I've been there before with no problems.

I know I can get an aftermarket battery for the 5s at any mobile phone shop, but I would like to avoid that since I've had a couple of bad experiences with after market batteries.

  12. A few days ago I heard a rumor about Makro opening up in Warin. Today I asked the manager at Makro Ubon and he looked at me like where have I been? Its been announced 3 months and everybody knows...well, I didn't :).

He said they plan on opening sometime in May and according to him, "near Big C". What he considers "near", I do not know.

Has anybody noticed any construction going on down there somewhere?

  13. I am trying to understand what the benefits are of having a direct deposit account opposed to a foreign currency deposit account ( dollar )...and can only come up with that it is basically the same ( when comparing receiving funds / ss from overseas ) EXCEPT for the fact that with the FCD you can setup online banking and easily transfer the money from dollars to Baht via iBanking.

You should be able to receive the ss dollar funds directly to your fcd account. It definitely works that way with ss in Euro.

  14. Hmmm, are you sure about this? We have a similar setup and seems a bit easier.

We still have an account in the US where my dad gets his social security transferred. From there we can wire the money to his Bangkok Bank US Dollar account ( in New York ). A couple days later it is posted to his Dollar account with bangkok bank ( which is accessible online ).

When logging in to the Bangkok Banks iBanking, all accounts he has with them are visible. From there ( online iBanking ) he can transfer x Dollars into Baht to his Thai account. It is immediately available ( assuming it is withing business hours ). He can then take his ATM and withdraw the money.

It was a bit of a hassle to get the foreign currency accounts setup to iBanking, but after 3 tries and 4 months, it is all setup and easy to use.

By the way, you also get a better rate by transferring your foreign currency online to your Baht account than using foreign cash and going into a bank and transferring it to Baht.

It not the same since the social security payment goes into a US bank first. The special direct account is to have the SSA send the payment directly to Bangkok Bank in New York.

I have the direct deposit account on internet banking but cannot do anything other than see the balance or transfer into it online

When you say you have a direct deposit account....is that a dollar account where SS deposits the money in dollars and is posted to that account in Dollars until you take further action?

If that is the case it would be a FCDA ( Foreign Currency Deposit Account ) and if you have it setup with your online banking account, you should be able to transfer the dollars to your baht account online without the need to visit a bank ( assuming both accounts are under the same iBanking login ).

To do the transfer all you need to do after logging in: In the top menu bar go to "transfers", then on the left hand side menu bar select "New FCD Transfer". From there the rest is self explanatory.

  16. I wouldn't worry too much about city next season. If I were to guess a title contender next season, I'd put my vote in for Liverpool. The EPL is up for a treat soon smile.png

    Why? Tell us more.

Based upon the current Liverpool squad, I can't see a title challenger next season, and based upon comments i read today, neither can the more intelligent members on the Liverpool forum...and I think we know who they are ;-)

    ]

    Just one name: Klopp

What I am seeing happening now, I remember from back 2008 when Klopp signed on to Dortmund. The only difference was, I did not know him at all and was disjointed that Dortmund signed a "no-name" coach eventhough they were doing terrible in the league and because of financial struggle almost got forced relegated into 3rd division. Klopp took over a broken team. 2 seasons later he won the Bundesliga ( twice in a row )...not an easy thing to accomplish being in the same league as Bayern Munich. He broke several records as well.

But most importantly, HE brought the whole team, the whole city alive. "Invented" a new football style that brought them in International news and to the champions league final...Bayern was "smart" to officially buy goetze a couple months before the final causing a huge stir in dortmund. Goetze also happened to be injured for that game....who knows what the outcome would've been without that.

aaaaanyways, I am following a bit at Liverpool right now and see a few similarities. All he needs is a little bit of time to get used to the EPL. He is looking for hungry talented players. I wouldn't expect big name signings in the summer, but by next season he will have a squad together that will stir up the league.

I am not saying he will dominate the league next season or maybe not even win it, but he will make headlines :). By 2018/19 he will dominate the league ;)

  17. Even my Makro in Ubon has 2 Liter plastic jugs of Egg whites and plastic jugs of Egg yolks. Here, they are located in the refrigerated area by the Tofu. The plastic jugs look like those half gallon Milk you can by in the US.

If I can get it in Ubon, then it is definitely available in Bangkok :)
