  1. Yes...What he did was wrong and needs punishment, but if he was drunk a lawyer may help him to not get into jail. I hope so. A foreign teenager in a Thai jail?...That can be the worst punishment somebody can get for stealing a cell phone....First...He will be raped for sure...

  2. New ?....Yamahas 125....from a Yamaha licensed dealership..over 40K

Used? Honda Air Blade 110 2007 (hard to find)..from a Honda licensed dealership...around 25K...similar to the Yamaha Nouvo, but better. Heavier and faster than a Click 115 or Susuki 125...

Be careful with the used ones...many times are from rentals, very well repainted and with tampered odometers...that why its prices are usually lower than in brand's dealership, and do not carry any warranty.

If those folk do come to Bangkok ... I'll recommend to the gf that there is an untapped market maybe selling ageless face-cream to our friends from the north ... rolleyes.gif

Just thinking outside the colours square.

Those are the people the "Democrat" party wants to rip the right to vote..because they are "uneducated"....The Democrat party is the party of the rich and powerful...banks and corporation...means MINORITY...and they NEVER will win a FREE election in Thailand...without that kind of unfair and dictatorial "reform" its have in mind...Democracy never will really happen when Greed and Power are the main goal of World's leaders.

GREED and POWER is a GLOBAL DECEASE, affecting the rich and the poor, and corruption NEVER will be eliminated in ANY country...without a REMEDY not contemplated anymore....called SHARE.

Sharing the wealth may be the TREATMENT...but Robin Hood is not in politics anymore....and I cannot see another coming in my lifetime....I am not a Pessimistic.......I am just a DREAMER

  5. Thailand is also today on the news because this....and it is very sad that it is also happening on 3 of the world's "emerging" economies, India, Russia and China...Are we going back to colonial times?

Estimated number of population in modern slavery

The Global Slavery Index also provides insight into the estimated absolute numbers of people in modern slavery, in 162 countries. When the estimated number of enslaved people is considered in absolute terms as a single factor, the country ranking shifts considerably.

The countries with the highest numbers of enslaved people are India, China, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Russia, Thailand, Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar and Bangladesh. Taken together, these countries account for 76% of the total estimate of 29.8 million in modern slavery.

The country with the largest estimated number of people in modern slavery is India, which is estimated to have between 13,300,000 and 14,700,000 people enslaved. The India country study suggests that while this involves the exploitation of some foreign nationals, by far the largest proportion of this problem is the exploitation of Indians citizens within India itself, particularly through debt bondage and bonded labour.

The country with the second highest absolute numbers of enslaved is China, with an estimated 2,800,000 to 3,100,000 in modern slavery. The China country study suggests that this includes the forced labour of men, women and children in many parts of the economy, including domestic servitude and forced begging, the sexual exploitation of women and children, and forced marriage.

The country with the third highest absolute number in modern slavery is Pakistan, with an estimated 2,000,000 to 2,200,000 people in modern slavery.

  6. Sorry Harrry but no ramps. If you come in the north entrance it is the first building on the left. All parking which I saw was curbside.

When I asked about my marriage visa which I am due to pick up next week, they said they will call the Mae Sai office to ask for the results and them stamp my passport on the day of my appointment. So clearly both offices are functioning and those who live closer to Mae Sai should be able to continue using that office. They looked a bit lonely in there so stop by and say hello. You will no doubt recognize the staff from Central or Mae Sai.

This was used for parking during the Chiang Rai Flower Show...

  7. Good news! This is just about 3 minutes from my home in Bandu....just passing the airport, by the place where the Annual Flower Show is located and before the bypass....In contrast..my wife is not happy...Not more shopping at the Chinese market in Mae Sai...

My 90 days reports never were free...

  8. I found this older topic just for coincidence..and I decide to share this, not to scare people, just to advice...

I had a good health all my life, but in 2009, at 64, I was diagnosed with a small malign tumor on my groin. I was under Medicare, US Government Medical Free Insurance for retired citizens. My oncologist did and order what he said was EVERY test, cat scans, MRI, etc, etc, and after a small surgery, and further biopsies, I was released free of cancer.

Just few days later, In the same building, a Medical Center, and by my own decision, I decided to consult a gastroenterologist for some acid reflux I was having, and he did a colonoscopy and endoscopy. He found a large malign colon cancer, and after sending the results to my oncologist, its asked for an urgent surgery and for the removal of big part of my stomach.

After asking friends and doctors second opinions, I rejected the surgery. The gastroenterologist removed what its can of the tumor, but still positive and he wanted to follow oncologist directions. I rejected colon's surgery again, and I started alternative treatments, diets, etc, etc, and came to Thailand for first time to live at countryside Homestay in Chiang Mai for 3 months.

After 3 months in Chiang Mai, relaxing, meditating, away from any stress situation, I was back in the US and on the colonoscopy table to find out that my tumor was gone. I move back to Thailand in 2011, and I got married in 2013.

I never felt so healthy in all my life.....

  9. Did you notice how many bicycles are alone on the streets without any chain or lock? Did you notice in America how many bicycles are alone on

the streets without main parts that the owners take home or carry to avoid losing it? Even doing it..I lost 4 bicycles in 5 years, inside my patio, from my car rack, a hotel parking, in a minute of distraction, in San Diego...the "finest city in the US"...

Here..... my wife get very upset if I take a banana hanging outside and abandoned house fence.....

  10. I remember the first time I went to a pub in London with my Thai (ex) wife. A guy came over and asked how much I paid for her.! Outrageous! But to be fair, when he came around his mates made him come and apologise. And he bought us a drink which cost more than the wife.whistling.gif

Have had the same experience in a few bars in Australia , difference was never received an apology

I know that in the US you cannot react violently to situations like that one, probably the same in Australia, UK, and many other countries...to no get into trouble but.......I am Brazilian...and I will not wait for an apology . Probably that is the reason why you rarely will see that kind of attitude in South American countries...and the reason why I no go to some places with my beautiful younger wife..even here in Thailand.

  11. Not a surprise at all! During my bachelor adventures in the last 3 years in Thailand I encounter many women looking in marry a farang...but....no wanting to have sex before and during marriage. Most under 45 and some very beautiful, saying that were "too old" for that kind of "stuff"....I met those women trough an Internet site, posting under "it is complicated" category......One of them, a really beautiful 40 years old woman from Chiang Mai, told me on our first date that she was ready in getting married but only wanted to have sex after marriage. At that time I had a bi-sexual woman friend posting on the same internet site, and I asked her to contact this woman to find about. Well, she did, and come back telling me that woman told her that she do not like men at all........Why she is looking in married a farang?....I never asked, I never met her again....but I remember her beauty.

    Be careful out there!

  12. I don't have a miserable life. Boredom? Perhaps after all these years here things start to repeat themselves.

What comes to going for a walk, bike ride, hiking, camping, buy a thousand fireworks and let them off, open a business, buy a Tuk-Tuk and ride across Thailand...who says that i haven't done all that in 10+ years...although, i was not aware that riding a Tuk-Tuk is legal on the motorways...I use a bike or a car.

I didn't expect much asking how others fulfill their days but it seems trolling and filling net with meaningless posts on ThaiVisa is a lifeline for some.

Really? Can a farang legally own a tuk tuk and have it for private use? How much will cost? Where I can buy one?

  13. It is hard to comment not knowing more details of your immigration situation, location in Thailand, citizenship and skills, but if you do not need more money, there are many volunteer rewarding activities in Thailand. Teaching anything is very well welcomed in most Government schools and philanthropic institutions, or just lecturing about your skills in trade schools. With so many years in Thailand probably you do speak nid noi Thai, and to open a small business is also easy and cheap to do here, if the business is not related with alcohol, music, transportation, located in "busy" areas, or anything that may get the attention of authorities, or needs special licenses.

  14. I will like to see if Mr. Suthep in person will be on the streets to block the elections......If he is killed or arrested...at least he will be remembered with some respect and not because he was a coward. In any case.....he will be out of the picture, and all this commotion and shame, and the loss for the country were in vain...If a military coup doesn't happen, in any new elections Mrs. Yinluck will kept her position. I only hope that she will give a lesson to this man and to his supporters calling for changes and reform, and more...dialog with the opposition's new leader. I know I am dreaming, but between 2 corrupted Governments, I prefer the one elected by the people and not imposed by the minority or the military.

Unfortunately not better options, even in the Western World.

  15. passengers are usually asked if they packed their luggage themselves. if she was asked she must have lied. prosecute her.

Not at check-in they're not, if at all. Doesn't that only happen if an individual is targetted by the authorities and the luggage is about to be examined? I've never been asked that question in more than 40 years of travelling.

It is mandatory from few years now for the check in to ask that....but....probably not every airline company's employee follow the rules..and probably not every passenger listen carefully or answers the questions properly...
