The 1st thing the girls at the queue ticket desk do is look for a TM30 slip stapled to your passport, if you need to do anything at Jomtien. Also, how does the TM30 online work, does anyone actually checks your rental contract to see it's correct and valid? In person they always look through it to make sure everything is in the rental contract and it's valid.

Yes, Jomtien Immigration always looks in your passport to see if a TM30 slip has been stapled to your passport. It would be very easy for the OP to snap a few pics of either his "locking me and another guy in a holding room for 2 hours" in BKK or at the AirAisa counter in KL to give some proof & legitimacy to his story. I did provide pics as proof when others were disputing me that Jomtien Immigration weren't letting people do extensions weeks in advanced, but only one business day in advanced. That put the haters claiming that it was possible to be silent. A few pics of proof goes a long way, especially when you are a brand new member and your 1st post is a big claim like this.

I believe no fine in that circumstance as you made a fresh entry into Thailand then went to do a TM30 at Jomtien within 72 hours of entry.

I've always said, don't buy property here, don't keep investments here, don't keep money here. Just only take what you need to live on here from your overseas account. The other option is carry cash or just use the debit card your bank gave you overseas and take the cash from the ATM. It's only 440k baht, not that much really.
