Just gave it a go today, it's incredibly quick and easy to use your credit card. Just tap and go, simple. Way quicker than waiting for a customer to search for the right amount of cash, or waiting for the 7-Eleven clerk to give you the correct change. A number of times those clerks aren't the brightest at maths and give the wrong change or they can't read the receipt which shows the correct amount of change to give. Don't see how you're being "stuck behind people using plastic" when it's the fastest payment method available.

2am is early. People start arriving at nightclubs around 12:30am onwards. Gogo girls arrive around 3am once their work ends. At least in Pattaya. That's why I was curious if other places like Phuket has had the same fate over the past week where all venues closed at 2am sharp or is it just a Pattaya thing.

Sound advice for sure.

Smart investment would be to own overseas for a better return & less risk, while renting here. Would never ever buy real estate in Thailand, especially Pattaya. Tourist industry in Pattaya & other places was decimated during Covid, no tenants, property prices down and rents got smashed big time by 50%-70% during Covid. Desperation all around by property owners trying to get whatever rent they could.

I remember reading a couple of years ago that 7-Eleven started to accept Visa credit card payments for transactions over 100 baht, however I've only ever seen people pay with cash. Is 7-Eleven now accepting both Visa & Mastercard credit card payments & do they accept non-Thai credit cards? Do they have a surcharge for using the card & is there a minimum transaction amount?

Lol you expect a tenant to split costs of painting and maitenance? Lol, nice joke.

Only an idiot would buy as a foreigner. Rent. Problem Solved.

Doesn't really work that way. Turn up at a nightclub/disco at 10am and you'd be the only customer there twiddling your thumbs waiting for the crowd to arrive. In reality, it doesn't start getting busy till around 12:30am or so. Turning up any time before that is really just a waste of time. Plus we all know the busiest period is once all the Gogo girls finish work and head to the nightclubs around 3am.

I've noticed a few barber shops at 100 baht near there. Not sure what it was before a couple of years ago as I wasn't paying attention.

Anyone here know the current requirements for getting a Thai drivers licence in Pattaya? I hold both a car & bike licence from my home country plus an international drivers permit. I'm here on a visa exempt plus I have a condo lease. I would like to get both a car & bike licence here in Pattaya. This would be my first time getting a Thai licence. I believe I need to get a Certificate of Residence from Immigration. I just need to bring my signed lease, correct?

I've noticed all those 100 baht massage shops from 2 years ago on Buakhao right by Klang intersection are now all 150 baht. Inflation hitting hard, in 2 years prices up 50%.

Correct, those are public holidays but everything is open and alcohol is served.

Obviously they don't want the tourist dollar with their ridiculous 2am closing time in a city known for a 5am or later closing. I thought Thailand was desperate for tourist dollars. Looks like they've got too muchof it. That's why they need to close everything as early as possible.

"strongly enforce all rules over this long holiday weekend. They also stated they will crackdown on entertainment venues open past legal closing times and motorbike racing" So it looks like after this long weekend it will be all back to normal and this is only a temporary thing. No early closing after this weekend would be my guess. Ain't gonna go down well with tourists if this 2am closing <deleted> goes on forever. And Thailand wants tourists to come back lol

Not all people are old, gramps. You can stick to your 7pm bedtime.
