Australian Tourist Visa Application
bbi1 replied to David48's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Same question too. How were you able to get a multiple entry tourist visa valid for 3 years? Looking at the Immigration website the maximum granted is for 12 months. What was the exact type of tourist visa you applied for your wife? Thanks -
Australian Tourist Visa Application

Thanks for your input. Will that be possible? The Oz Immigration site says that it usually grants a "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream" with the condition attached to it "8503 No Further Stay", meaning no substantial visas can be applied for while in Oz, meaning that an application for a Partner Visa (apply in Australia) is not possible: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/already-have-a-visa/check-visa-details-and-conditions/see-your-visa-conditions?product=600-29B Do you have any website links where a Partner Visa (apply in Australia) can be applied for and a Bridging Visa being granted while being a holder of a Visitor Visa Tourist Stream? Thanks

Is it possible for her to have a baby here in a public hospital while on a Visitor Visa Tourist Stream? Would Medicare cover this since I'm an Aussie citizen or not because the baby is coming out of her body, not my body? Alternatively, would getting private health insurance with pregnancy cover be beneficial? I think they all have 12 month waiting periods for this. I've never had private health insurance in Australia, so this is also all new to me.

Hoping that some people can help here with their previous experiences. My girlfriend and I (an Aussie citizen), are planning on her coming to Oz on a "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream (apply outside Australia)" then for us to marry in Oz. We will then immediately apply for a "Partner Visa" for her to live in Oz forever with me and for us to have a baby quickly once she is living in Oz with me. I believe tourist visas are granted for a 12 month period as multiple entry and each entry can stay for a maximum of 3 months. I believe that if staying in Oz on a tourist visa, you are not allowed to stay for more than a total of 12 months in an 18 month period. Is it faster to get approved for the "Partner Visa (apply in Australia)" or the "Partner Visa (apply overseas)"? Does anyone have recent experience with this? Does going through an agent fast-track getting a Partner Visa at all? Are there any real benefits in using an agent? Is it possible to apply for a "Partner Visa" immediately after marrying in Oz while she's on a "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream" or does the application have to be from outside the country? Do all "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream" get the condition attached to it "8503 No Further Stay" so you can't apply for another visa while in Oz? Has anyone successfully got the "8503 No Further Stay" condition waived on a "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream"? Looking at the Immigration website it says "While you are in Australia, you are unable to make a valid visa application for any new substantive visa other than a protection visa." so that would mean a "Partner Visa (apply in Australia)" wouldn't be possible, only an overseas application, but when I have Googled this, sometimes "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream" gets issued without this condition in the past. Looking at the processing time for either of the two Partner Visas take a very long time. It could take up to 37 months for 90% of applicants. This would be a very long time before she can live here. I'm wondering, after applying for a "Partner Visa (apply overseas)" if she can still come back to live here at 3 months at a time on the already approved Visitor Visa and maybe flying to New Zealand and back every 3 months until the 12 months expire? Then is it possible to apply for another "Visitor Visa Tourist Stream (apply in Australia)" if the Partner Visa is not yet approved and do the same until the time that the Parner Visa is approved? There is also a "Visitor Visa Sponsored family stream", I'm not sure if this can be used in conjuction to help at all. Anyone know about this? Thanks

Curious to know how much would an 18yo virgin would get for sin sod in Laos?
-
Do you know or have a website link for the process about this, and the rough costs & what documentation is involved?
-
Apparently the steps to get married is to go to her village, pay the sin sod and for the village police chief to come and sign some papers, then you are legally married in the village. This then allows you to move on to the next stage of progressing further to a full marriage licence which could take around a year and cost 120,000 baht for all the costs to the government, but once this initial stage is complete, you can legally sleep together and stay at the parents house in the village, if you so wish. Does this sound correct to you guys?

Is it really possible to marry in Thailand as that link suggests? I've read before that it was not possible to do this. A common way around this problem is for the Lao person to marry with a foreigner in another country such as Thailand where the rules are less strict.
-
Actually, she told me it's something near 500,000 baht and 5 baht in gold, which I think it's too much. She thinks it's better that we don't marry so I don't need to spend so much.
-
Apparently someone in her extended family married a well-off Thai person, but it took over a year for the whole process from start to finish (marriage certificate) and about 120,000 baht in costs/bribes to the different government officials.
-
I agree it shouldn't be much but not sure what is considered appropriate in Laos. She is talking about that she's the only daughter and once married she has to take care of me and our baby (when we have one) forever. She won't be able to take care of her parents like in the past and won't be able to go back there to look after them when they're older, like her plans prior to meeting me. She does look after me very, very well in every aspect of my life. She has her own business (basically a job as she's only the one working for it) here in Thaiand. This is something she will sell after we get married. She owns 2 parcels of land somewhere in Laos, which will be passed down to the kids, if she ends up having them.

Roughly, how much money and/or gold is usual for sin sod to a Lao girl's family? Is the sin sod for marrying a Lao girl similar or less than for a Thai girl or the equivilant? What factors influence how much sin sod is given? Let's say a Lao girl is in her early 30s, never married, no baby, finished high school, is the only girl in the family, comes from a poor family, has had sexual relations with a few different men before in Laos and Thailand. How much would be expected for the sin sod? The problem is, many of her extended family have married rich Chinese businessmen (well, not really married but only in the village) who need to marry a Lao person so they can do business in Laos. Those Chinese people apparently pay big sin sod because they need a Lao woman so they can conduct business in Laos. But she has never had any interest in marrying any Chinese.

Is Soi Bhakhao 24 hours a day not 'safe' from keeping dry until the 20th or when does the water start each day on that street?
-
How 'safe' is it to drive a motorbike on Beach Rd between Klang and Soi 13, without the risk of getting wet? Is it only the bars on Beach Rd that are risky or also the footpath area too on the opposite side?
-
So far Soi Buakhao has been safe with no water throwing yet. Are we expecting Soi Buakhao "not safe" from the morning tomorrow, being the 12th?

Just took a look at MOTs website: https://www.mots-services.com/mots-services1 Is it true that they can get SETV and METV visas for tourists without having to leave Thailand? "PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO COVID AND NEW IMMIGRATION POLICY MOTS SERVICES CAN PROVIDE A 30 DAY AND 60 DAY TOURIST VISA DIRECTLY USING IMMIGRATION SERVICES. NO OUTBOUND TRIP IS REQUIRED."
-
So the 11th we are all still safe from any water throwing? Someone above said from 11th to 19th is the madness.

How long is the 2 day course that is needed to be done? Does it take up 2 complete full days from 9am to 5pm? Am I correct in understanding 3 days in total are needed, one day to get an appointment and then 2 days for the written and driving test? Is the written test able to be done either in English or Thai?

For a Laos citizen who doesn't hold a motorbike licence anywhere in the world but knows how to drive a motorbike back in Laos, are there any "express" options (eg. via an agent and if so, any recommended ones) for getting a licence without having to go to the Land Transport Office and doing a test? If not, do Laos citizens need to queue up with the foreigners in the queue outside? If there are no express options, how long and what are the usual steps that's needed for someone who has never held a motorbike licence before?

Anyone have any recommendations for a good & trustworthy dentist in Pattaya? I'm looking at doing a checkup & clean and am looking for someone that won't try and make you do unnecessary fillings etc. to get extra money. Anyone good here in Pattaya or we need to really go to BKK for this?

Can't remember if they are exactly like the one on this thread, but I think they may be similar but I'm not sure:
