  1. Not 100% accurate about registering and receiving appointments immediately through that website. I registered successfully according to the website and have yet to hear back from them in regards to an appointment time or date and I noted other posters with a similar experience as mine. Probably (hopefully) it's because the registration administrators of the thai intervac website are prioritising over 60's and at risk groups, which is fair enough, but I will be grateful once I become eligible.
  2. My wife finally has her appointment for the vaccine tomorrow and she is sh*t*ng bricks to get AZ. I have told her AZ must have much less risk of complications than catching C19. The media scare campaigns about clots and dying seem to have worked their magic in regards to scaring people. Her parents in Korat who are both early 70's are still waiting and she has just registered them for Sinopharm at a cost. So it isn't only foreigners left in the vaccine void. I'm still waiting for a registration to actually lead to a vaccine appointment. I will be heading back to the UK in October so its likely I won't be heading back as a vaccinated traveller, which is a bummer but I will get mine there, even if it is at cost. I imagine they will gladly encourage vaccinations to reduce risk of spreading to the local populous.
  3. I can only dream of getting an appointment, that would be a great start
  4. I love these encompassing media polls which are supposedly carried out, analysed and have the results released within 72 hours of an event occuring. Credibility = Zero
  5. Re-enacts crime after reading the script written for him? I do hope they have the right man and not the wrong man in the right place. A sad reflection on the RTP that the public don't trust them to do the due dilligence required to ascertain that they have the right person. Hopefully Swiss investigators will get some oversight into the case findings.
  6. How about a free tariff agreement instead of the free trade agreement and the bilteral trade agreements. What Australia should do is impose the same import tariff rates on Thai goods that Thailand imposes on Australian goods, including on thai made vehicles that are exported to Australia. That way Thailand might start being a little more reciprocal in regards to the actual trade and consumption of products.
  7. Anywhere else in the world, the detention of a suspect for murder would mark the beginning of a detailed investigation, not "the end".
  8. Its amazing how the death (murder) of a Swiss Government Official in Phuket when the "sandbox model" is at risk of being sullied is galvenising the government and RTP to be seen to be resolving this. Apply the same vigor to the Koh Tao murders and find the real killers and put some faith back into Thai Justice System. RIP to the Swiss National and I hope her family gets justice and their family member back soon, so that they can bury her with some dignity.
  9. That nickname wasn't Net as in Drag Net, that was Net as In Nett Profit
  10. A convicted drug dealer for PM, now that would be a turn up for the books. Maybe he should work more closely with the AFP in order to shut down the drugs pipeline between Thailand and Australia. He would be better suited as the Thai Ambassador to Mexico or Colombia. I'm sure that he would be more than capable of starting a free trade agreement with either country.
  11. They should have sent an influencer if all they want to do is restore confidence.
  12. There are several above ground open parking areas with security on the western side of Bang Sue, across the road from the Bang Sue station. There is also underground parking on the eastern side of BangSue, I'm not sure if there is underground access on the western side. As previously stated the main access routes in and out can get hellishly congested, though at the moment the access roads have <deleted> all traffic inbound to Bangsue. I can see the major roads into Bangsue Station from my condo window and the traffic has died down a lot since last week when walk in vaccines were drawing in the crowds. Easiest by far is public transport on BTS or MRT if you are close to either system.
  13. One downside would be lack of proximity to Thonglor or Ekkamai style higher end nightclub nightlife, if that was your thing or Sukhumvit type nightlife. There is lively nightlife on Pradipat Road and in nearby Ari as in restaurants and casual drinking establishments, so plenty of options. There are a few nightclubs here but I can't say what goes on in them as I have never been in one. We were staying in Ratchada when we started condo hunting and we initially looked in Ratchada, Rama 9 and also around Thonglor. We eventually found more conveniences and new condo choices in Saphan Kwai and I think the BTS distance from Siam to Saphan Kwai would be pretty similar to the distance from Siam to Thonglor or maybe Ekkamai by BTS, so its still a convenient location. We found Saphan Kwai inadvertantly when we looked at a condo to buy near Big C Ladprao, it wasn't an area particularly familiar to us though we had passed it before. Another downside for me would be having a condo right at the BTS stop because in order to be that close you then have inevitable some road road noise if you have windows open and we are on the 26th floor. Most new condo developments in this area either front Paholyothin or Pradipat Rds for convenience. You can get plenty of older or smaller condo buildings in the local Soi's if you don't mind walking to the main road but my wife preferred easy walking convenience to the BTS station and Big C. Easy access to Suvanabhumi or Don Muang Airports from here as well, maybe that's why the new Bang Sue Station was selected where it is as the new rail hub. Another downside is .... no beaches, so I'm looking for a beach weekender to escape Bangkok too.
  14. Well the price of his company shares rose substantially after announcing he had the vaccine deal in the bag and was signing the contract imminently, and the ccontract was subsequently not signed. Did he make the claim of nearly being ready to sign the contract for the vaccine in order to jack up his share price or in good faith, that is the question that needs answering. It would of interest to review the buy and sell volumes of company stock before and after the announcement to see whether this was a deliberate stock exchange manipulation rather than a genuine effort to buy vaccines.
  15. Probably 60% of the small general shops and amulate and lottery sellers around Saphan Kwai (selling all sorts from hardware to food or books etc) are still open or operating. These are shops on Paholyothin Rd and Pradipat Rd that serve the local community, yet all small shops inside the Big C Centre itself had to stop trading or chose to shut, I'm not sure if it was forced or not. Its hard to figure out who is determining or enforcing rules around this area.
  16. The petition is the only voice of the expats at present because they certainly wont get support from the British Embassy in Thailand in regards to the matter. The Ambassador should initiate a "high tea, cucumber sandwhich and jab" session for the brits abroad, after all they do say that charity starts at home.
  17. Now its Anutin's "loaves and fishes" moment, see if he can turn 1 million doses into 10 million. Or maybe instead of turning water into wine he can turn water into vaccine.
  18. You just need to be very close to a BTS or MRT and Bangkok is easily accessible. Look at an interactive map and check out condos close to a BTS or MRT and check what infrastructure is near them. Your choice of area really does depend on your age, lifestyle and budget. Around Rama 9 you have got a large central mall and fortune town and a Tesco. You can also walk down to a Big C in about 10 minutes and there are a few gyms there. I stayed in that area near the Esplanade Mall for a few months at Amanta Hotel and Residences until I bought a place elsewhere. Your only restriction there is that its an MRT serviced area and to use the BTS requires an interchange stop, but its not a great hassle as MRT is very good to use. We liked the area but there weren't any parks there for me to run, which I liked doing. I only spent a month in the Asoke area and I did like it there as well but I found that there were less restaurants and conveniences in the specific area I was in (Soi 39) if I remember rightly. My option for living was based on my wife and my preferrences. The condo cost per Sq Meter for the place we bought was pretty similar to prices around Rama 9 and maybe a bit cheaper than Asoke but I thought expensive for the area, but all of the new condos in the area were similarly priced. The rental and purchase prices have dropped by about 20% from the look of it. I moved to Saphan Kwai in 2018 because it had more non tourist restaurants and conveniences but was still within walking distance (10 to 15 mins) of quite a lot of western options in Ari. Plus importantly for me there was the large recreational parks at Chatuchak for running or walking, has got private hospitals, large supermarket all within easy short walk (say 5 minutes max) and it has BTS which is only a 30 second walk from the condo and also MRT access, which is a 10 minute walk(though I drive too). Also its only 2 BTS stops to Ladprao Central and Union Mall, which I can also walk to in 30 mins if I don't want to catch the BTS and of course Chatuchak Market is a 5 minute walk to the nearest entry gate. Not too much nightlife though unless you want Thai Nightclubs, but I am married and don't bother with the nightlife a great deal. I also walk to the River sometimes for general relaxation and its anout a 30 minute walk to the river and new parliment. Also with driving you want to be near an access to the expressway or main arterial roads to minimise secondary road commuting. So make a list of what you want and at what budget and then research which area provides you with your needs and wants and then the area selection becomes easier.
