Has this meter removal ever happened to you or to anyone you know?

Simple test to ascertain whether the HDMI2 is functional is to plug the current HDMI1 lead into HDMI2 socket. Make sure MDMI2 input is selected and see what happens. If still no input then it's probable that HDMI2 is faulty. Try the same trick with the other lead into HDMI1 to confirm if that lead is working ok.

Looking for opinions and or experience. There is a wire seal on the access cover of my conventional bidirectional PEA electricity meter. I want to disconnect the meter to do some work on the live side of my main isolator. What would be the consequences of me removing the seal to do the disconnect myself?

True but, although many rural houses do that, they are made with leaky wooden boards so any gas leaks can escape. But it is an unsafe practice.

Absolutely right. No need to take such drastic measures. As has been said. Aerate the water. This will cause iron to become oxidised and become "lumpy" enough to be filtered out. Another way is to purchase an O3 (ozone) generatorwhich does the same as an aerator but much quicker.

I take it you're using a common or garden RCBO at 30mA then?

I am curious to know how all this grid feedback works with regards to inverter protection. What protective device do you have between the output of the inverter and the grid? RCBO, MCB, nothing?

There has been an explosion at a service station in Ireland which sadly took the lives of three people but I noticed the roof of the building still has it's solar panels intact. Solar power is more resilient than we might otherwise think.

I agree with the "gloop" description. The ready mix stuff in jars is not strong. Until a few years ago I used to get packets of mustard powder from Makro. That was hot enough to bring tears to the eye. Unfortunately my Makro here in Buriram stopped stocking it but it might be worth looking around your local Makro.

That lump of metal sticking out the front may be insulated from the motor and the electrical bits inside the machine but the second it cuts into the mains lead it is likely to become live. That is why my Bosch hedge trimmer in the UK had an earth and that is why the ELCBO in the consumer unit instantly tripped when I cut the supply cord (Yup. Me too). The blade would have connected the earth wire to one of the current conductors and hey presto. No dangerous bare leads lying around waiting for me to pick up.

Good answer, So the next project will be to ensure all such bare metal gadgets have an earth terminal connected to earth at the mains plug.

Yes, the last I heard the Australian companies have control to switch home generated export on and off. This does make some sense because that's what the big power stations do to get around the peaks and troughs of daily demand. What I find wrong with that is the power companies using solar to control grid power rather than the power stations.

Sad indeed but that's what you get when the government gets income from electricity consumers. The government is, I believe, the major shareholder of the energy companies. They are in business to take your money rather than give it to you.

Rabbits, snakes, rats, otters. We get them all. At one stage a few years ago, we used an excavator (proper name for a backhoe) to dig out a warren. Most of the problems of unscheduled water flow through bunds between paddies are down to rats, but some of the embankment holes look suspiciously big for rats.
