  1. It is also worth mentioning that the 20% to 80% charge range is a reduction in the battery effective capacity so if you're going to reduce the charge/discharge levels you will need to increase the quantity of cells to maintain the overall capacity. For example: 100Ahr battery @ 20 - 80% = 60Ahr usable capacity 167Ahr battery @ 20 - 80% = 100.2Ahr usable capacity So if it is calculated that 100Ahr battery is required for an installation then the actual size to fit would be 167Ahr at 20 - 80%
  2. LiFePO4's are reasonably happy at 30ºC. They will loose capacity a bit quicker above 35ºC but, unlike lead acid temperature is not so much of a big deal for them. Fears of the fire/bomb risk: Lithium ion batteries will go into thermal runaway at, if I remember rightly, 356ºC whereas LiFePO4's are good for 460ºC until runaway starts. These are internal temperatures. A good BMS will ensure this can never be due to over charging or discharging too fast. Keeping them away from a heat source is also a good idea.
  3. Yup. And in addition to that LiFePO4's are quite content to be part charged on cloudy days whereas lead acid will suffer from sulfation which will accumulate over time and kill the battery sooner rather than later. Also best working temperature of lead acid is 25ºC whereas LiFePO4 is 30ºC which is normal for Thailand.
  4. So sad that any one should die like that. It takes the edge off seeing the correct name used for the machine.
  5. Yes that is true. I like to disappear down to the other end of my farm where I can enjoy the cool of my mini forest.
  6. Instructions? More fun to build it first then look at the instructions to see what to do with the three screws left over. ????
  7. So whatever happens with the price rises, my next lot of batteries will seem even cheaper (relatively).
  8. Ahh yes rigor mortise grey. Colour coordination can be a bit of a challenge but as some have already mentioned, you need to look at a complimentary colour scheme to either blend with your furnishings or perhaps to highlight different areas of the condo.
  9. It still is very much an issue. My rear license plate is like new but the front one has been touched up a few times. The paint wears off due to air friction, and insects et. al.
  10. I find that tiger balm is quite effective on mosquito bites. After scratching application of the tiger balm will sting for a few seconds then all irritation subsides.
  11. Does this make me an apple growing sucker?
  12. Neither does mine.
  13. Most villagers don't have access to the 'net so they need the football to be on TV but then I think most villagers would prefer to watch buffalo racing.
  14. It's always been an excavator to me. A backhoe is a mechanical digger on the back of a tractor.
  15. Agreed. Commentators put their own personal slant on what you are watching an besides, if you go to a live match it is free of interfering, worn out catchphrases.
  16. Is Mr. P standing on a box d'ya think?
  17. Daft b'ger ???? Thanks. You trying to make me regress to my child hood carefree times?
  18. That's k'mer magic ju-ju bone rattling secret stuff which is known only to the village elder. Me being the outsider never gets to know such sensitive information.
  19. All this lizard/Gecko nonsense happened to me. Cost was 2,000 Baht for a replacement board. My wife said we need to install a small muslin bag of assorted herbs & spices to keep the little b'grs away. Never had a problem since.
  20. A Lithium (LiFePO4) cell if treated reasonably well, will last < 3 years to < 20 years. The amount of environmental cost is minimal on that time scale. Better to look at the environmental cost of the humble lead acid battery in your car. Agreed there is much to do to reduce power generation environmental impact. For me the simpler solution is to get away from national grid distribution networks and make many local mini grids using flow batteries for ESS to provide night time power.
  21. Probably not much help but you could try a shoe repairer (I hesitate top say cobbler on this forum). There are plenty of good ones with stitching and gluing skills working on every (almost) corner.
  22. All government workers will be issued with a small brown envelope shaped badge in the middle of which will be a QR code.
  23. I agree with all of that and would add that the law of the land is still in Thai hands and controlled, through government by Thai citizens. So although the land may have a foreigner as owner, that foreigner must still abide by Thai law in all respects.
  24. If the guy was selling guns etc. on-line, who and how many people are now armed and will the police be following up to remove these probably illegal weapons?
