  1. I disagree with most statements here.

In my opinion renting is a waste of money, it is not what certain people tend to think but rather a fact. You rent something, you keep filling somebody else's pocket. You buy it, you make an investment by any means. If you live in it then thats why it was an investment. If you dont then thats why It was an investment. Because if you dont live in it then you are going to rent it out so your asset is making money for you. Even if you dont rent it out just decide to keep it in good condition and sell it later, you are going to make profit. A property investment when done smartly, is never a waste of money. It is just common sense. In my opinion most people who commented here are not entrepreneurs or investors. .thats why they have made such comments. No insult intended towards anybody but I speak from experience. If one buys a property anywhere in the world strictly for investment reasons then an agency is going to take care of it for a small commission and that person has made a good investment. You can either buy assets that generate income like a property in this case or buy liabilities that is only going to cost you. Approximately 7% of wealthy individuals rent property. The rest of them own it. The reason behind that is simple: they understand that they are only going to benefit from it, again if done properly. Thats one of the reasons they are wealthy. They understand what most people dont.

  2. I have come to the conclusion that its probably my launcher

Yes, it probably would have helped if you had mentioned you were using a 3rd party launcher, in your original post. rolleyes.gif

You can un-root (de-root?) a phone in the event you need to make it look "original".

If you want to use a decent ad-blocker (AdAway) you need to root the device.

Yes you are right, I totally forgot the launcher.

But I still dont understand why it causes a crash as it doesnt happen on the other s4 that I have mentioned.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice.

  3. So, what is the consensus of the forum on this?

Teach in Thailand, on a teacher's salary, and stay year-round?

Or take a nice one or two month holiday and enjoy everything LOS has to offer?

    Absolutely depends on the person.

I know a lot of people will not agree with the following but I do so here it is.

A long time ago someone, and intelligent individual with much experience who has been living here for a long time told me: Thailand is the land of lost boys. With no offense intended I agree with him to this day.

And I live here currently so I am not excluding myself.

  4. Has anyone successfully removed the rev limiter from the CBR 250, or atleast been able to up it by 1k rpm or more ?

Would really like it go a bit higher than 10.5k.

I ride a cbr, though not into such modifications..I know that in bkk certain shops do it. A friend of mine there owns a R6, got some similar stuff done on his bike that u are referring to.

Same month he got it seized because cops noticed that it was definitely not a stock bike.

Its your bike you do what you want with it but I would not suggest it for two reasons. First, as you have mentioned it could and probably would open a can of worms. Second, see above mentioned story. It is well known that cops here are after modified bikes.

My only mods on the bike were..I got the mirrors removed by my girl when she was mad at me.

  5. Sorry yes I meant the phone would have to be rooted 1st to remove those special, preinstalled apps. There are many other advantages in rooting so I wouldn't hesitate doing it when getting a new phone. Waiting for the Note 3. :)

Yes I have been thinking about this rooting.

I am aware of the advantages and of course both rooted and unrooted phones have their advantages and disadvantages at least in my opinion.

My only question related to rooting would be: if the phone has any problems I mean hardware problems so it would need repair. What kind of shop you could take it to? The repair shops of the manufacturer of the phone would do it or they dont provide service for rooted ones?

  6. I think you’d have to root your device in order to successfully de-install Chrome. I guess with JB (4.2/4.3) Chrome is the stock or default browser. I am running 4.3 on several devices, along with, more or less, stock 4.3 ( gapps_20130813 ), rooted, and can wipe data, de-install and re-install Chrome, using TiBu.

The SGS4 does have a staggering amount Drosswaretm, maybe some of these are interfering with Chrome? Do you use the “Eye Tracking” and “Hand Waving”, and God knows what other “apps”? Maybe close those and see if Chrome works.

All that said, as it has never worked for you, why is it that you seem intent on using it? I’m guessing you might use it on your desktop? And there certainly is some synergy there, but the look, feel usage is quite a bit different on Android.

I have been using Chrome/Android, mostly as a result of this thread, and have to say that it is getting much better with each release. The UI, with the fanfold, is impressive.

    Drosswaretm

Group Play: Share Music, Share Picture, Share Document,

    Play Games

Story Album, S Translator, Optical Reader

Samsung Smart Scroll, Samsung Smart Pause, Air Gesture,

    Air View

Samsung Hub, ChatON (Voice/Video Call, Share screen,

    3-way calling) Samsung WatchON

    S Travel (Trip Advisor), S Voice™ Drive, S Health

Samsung Adapt Display, Samsung Adapt Sound, Auto adjust touch sensitivity (Glove friendly)

Safety Assistance, Samsung Link, Screen Mirroring

    Samsung KNOX (B2B only)

Yes I would def need to root the phone in order to reinstall Chrome.

Besides I insist on using it because I just love that browser. In my opinion Chrome is a very good browser with very smooth operation and as I have mentioned it earlier I like the ability to sync bookmarks and the rest of my stuff with pc. Since my business is done online mainly, I need reliable devices and to be able to browse as effectively as possible.

Thats why I got the s4 and I am satisfied with it. Its a really good device and i say that even after my problems with Chrome as no system is 100% perfect.

You have mentioned that you use different devices. Just out of curiosity what kind of devices you have? Are they all rooted?

I dont use any of those additional features like eye tracking and stuff like that but I do think that a few of them are actually useful just need a little polishing.

  7. As I mentioned before, maybe it one of your Apps you loaded after getting the phone. Maybe on one of those days your are bored you could uninstall an App or two you installed after you got the phone--and then also restart your phone to ensure all affects of the uninstalled Apps is removed---and then see how Chrome acts. Since it so easy to reinstall Apps from Google Play it might be worth a try in continuing to investigate your Chrome problem. Good luck.

Yes I ve always thought the same that that could be the problem.

So I took the time to figure it out. I have come to the conclusion that its probably my launcher

that for some reason Chrome doesn't want to work together with. I use Go ex and have no idea what

is wrong. I bought an s4 for my girl not long ago. She actually wanted another one but I talked her into

it with the evil back thought that I am going to install the same damn programs including the launcher

on it to figure out what's wrong which I did.

Didnt surprise me that on her phone there were no freezes or any problems.

So now that I seem to understand which apps interfere with each other, I still dont know why they do so.

  8. To answer your question it is not necessary to get a car for that distance.

You are good with a bike especially because you have experience with it already.

At least the scooter because you say you have never ridde a manual before.

If that's the case then I would suggest you to keep using the scooter to see if you are happy with it.

And definitely learn to ride a manual properly before you get on the roads in Bkk. Or anywhere else

    for that matter.

    Good luck

  9. I like chrome for the reason it syncs all the bookmarks and browsing history on every device I use, very handy.

I'd try to un-install it and reinstall, it normally fixes the bad behavior, but I would also root my phone to begin with.

Thanks. I cant uninstall it coz its installed by the manufacturer.

But rooting is a good idea I might do it.

  10. There is a new version of (Android) chrome: 29.0.1547.59

Not sure if it might address your issue(s)?

Thanks, I got the new version already. Doesn't help.

But I solved the issue already, I downloaded the new version of Dolphin.

Not any worse than Chrome anyway, I just miss the feature that the last post addresses: that Chrome automatically syncs bookmarks and stuff.

  11. I found this article on the internet a long time ago.

Then for some reason I have stumbled on it over and over again.

Thought I would let you know about it guys..all of you who are into riding like myself and cannot stay away

from that wicked thing on two wheels that is so much fun but also so dangerous.

Everyday I go out and hit the roads I watch thai drivers on motorbikes and no offense towards them but

I always do the opposite of what they do and the way they drive.

Dont even get me started on this one but we all know well what I am talking about.

As an example they never wear a helmet. Me, call me crazy but I never drive without my full face.

    http://www.msgroup.org/tip.aspx?num=170

It doesnt matter that these are US statistics. .I do believe the case is even worse here

Ride safe guys, its a world of fun..but dont be reckless and take care

  12. I have just tried my SGS 3 on a friends fresh install of Linux mint 15, and no joy.

A search on Google for Linux Mint and MTP brings up a lot of links, and this one is from one of my favourite sites.

I hope it solves your problem.  As for my own installation I have installed and uninstalled so many test items it is now time for a fresh install so just because it works for me does not mean it works out of the box, but I understand it should.

    Edit extra link added

If it does not work for you out of the box here is another possible solution

I opened a root console, followed the instructions given in the articles you linked..and the magic happened right after. Now it works!

    Thanks!

  13. Politicians are mostly post turtles

When you are driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top of it; that’s a post turtle.

You know he didn’t get there by himself

    He doesn’t belong up there

He doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there

He is elevated above his ability to function

And you just have to wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with

Wish i could like this on a daily basis as its so true.

  14. Thailand previously had that first buyer car scheme, tricking people into something that they knew would not work.

Then when it comes to public transportation, thats all about money as well. They want to raise the prices but when it comes to service and their standards are a joke.

Despite that, the gov always finds a way to further drive prices up.

I really like this country but it is sad to see, that the gov is slowly tearing it apart.

  15. From my experience Dtac is a good and reliable operator, i could recommend it.

If price is not an issue, then i would go for either the 3Gb package which costs 650thb for a month or the 5Gb package and that is 890thb per month.

The official speed is up to 42Mbps so if you are going to stay downtown, you cant miss with Dtac.

    Good luck
