The truth is there is a world shortage of vaccines. Owing low infection rates last year it was not realised the importance of the vaccines being the only way out of the Pandemic and reluctance to pay huge cost but the Government is now ordering as many vaccines that become available but has to join the waiting list.

International tourism will return to Thailand when restrictions lifted but on a much smaller scale. It would help if visa requirements simplified and the visa exemption extended to 60 days together with promotions when it is decided to welcome back visitors.

Where will these tourists come from?
Best to expedite vaccine roll out over entire country. Big problem will be border with Burma which country understand has nil vaccines but many enter Thailand as refugees or for work. Don't believe any significant foreign tourism until entry restrictions lifted except for negative PCR test 72 hours prior to arrival.

Expedite vaccination programme.

It's all about money. Purchase the vaccines and advise all Foreigners they have be vaccinated and to proceed with arrangements with private hospitals.

2 hours ago, RichardColeman said:I would imagine the sex industry is exactly the target market Pattaya should be concentrating on for the next 12 months. Families are not going to come any time soon, working age people are probably behind with bills after the pandemic and the only others really left are horny old retired guys - who will spend money
Fully agree sex workers support families and children who are suffering for more than a year now most unregistered so have not received any Government help

Good start but a long way to go believe that the J&J requires only one shot so if they can increase supply would be good news.

Interesting but no one says when entire population including resident foreigners. The main problems is still shortage of vaccines and medics to administer them.

Basically nothing has changed except 14 days in approved hotel rather than 14 days quarantine in approved hotel
Suggest place more effort in expediting vaccination programme for entire country

The more I see all these reports I realise they are only dreams and that there is no chance of me visiting Thailand any time soon. The biggest problem is shortage of vaccines throughout Asia as no country has a credible vaccination programme including China

What is the plan in respect unvaccinated foreigners living in Phuket? Where will they go?

What a lot of nonsense why $1 and not pay one night next free. Why subsidise hotels this has been normal in the past. Main problem is where are these tourists coming from with Asia suffering serious outbreaks of Covid every where

It is likely covid will be with us indefinitely and we will have to learn to live with after it is under control with revacinations required every year for the most vulnerable. Tourism should resume on a much smaller scale some time next year.

Are all these Americans paying taxes in the US and Thailand I doubt it. I feel more sorry for the thousands of unregistered Thai's who were employed in the Tourist Industry but now destitute some with Children who really do not understand why they are hungry

Don't have to be an expert virlolgist to know that vaccines should create herd immunity but where are these vaccines and how long will it take to vaccinate population. Meanwhile there is high risk of further more infectious mutations offering with such high infection rates especially in prison population.

Let's hope a miracle happens and sufficient vaccines become available to commence mass vaccination programme soonest. All going well maybe Thailand can reopen beginning next year provided Covid under control and no more mutations such as Indian enter the country.

From photographs of Sinovac arri als it would appear these gifted to Thailand by China if so big thank you. However looks like there is a shortage of vaccines and everything possible should be done to expedite AZ vaccines which essential for mass vaccination programme entire population not just tourist areas

Wonderful local police recruiting for Dads Army. Hope they have been taken to Bophut Police Station for Covid vaccinations. Expect the Bar Owner was trying to earn pittance for her next meal

Sounds like an offer cannot refuse. Will wait until whole country vaccinated maybe sometime next year.

Looks like Thailand is heavily reliant on low cost migrant labour and high paying international tourism.
-
Looks like will be some years before fully opening to International Tourism. Domestic Tourism especially during extra extended holidays has contributed to rise in Covid infections. At least 70% of Thai population needs to be fully vaccinated before foreign countries will permit their citizen to enter without quarantine upon returning home. China has not started a mass vaccination programme and therefore likely to follow India with another more serious outbreak.

Good news for Thailand but China has an enormous problem to vaccinate its own population as fear Covid will again recur in China probably uncontrollable which could delay tourism from China for a very long time
Sandbox: 50% of foreigners cancel plans to visit Phuket

Was it really a plan or just rhetoric.
Best get on with mass vaccination plan and then consider reopening for 2023 earliest
