Many criticisms can be made how the Pandemic is being handled but it appears Thailand is doing utmost to secure supplies of available vaccines as quickly as possible. Let's hope Thailand will be open to international tourism without quarantine and other draconian restrictions as quickly as possible.

Most genuine tourists do not have time for quarantine the only way to restart international tourism is entry to Thailand without draconian restrictions the Samui plus scheme is frankly ridiculous who in their right mind is interested in such restrictions stuck in an expensive hotel and only allowed out with hotel transport etc etc.

Until TAT realises that only way to encourage return of tourism is to withdraw the ridiculous restrictions being imposed and allow entry without restrictions for fully vaccinated and stop imposing heartbreak on tourists who have been trying to help Thailand by paying inflated costs and then if they are unfortunate to have come in to contact with someone who has tested positive but otherwise with no Covid symptoms isolating them in a hospital room without any medical treatment but with great additional costs when they would have been far better off by staying at home.

Does this mean Thailand will not be open for International tourism for fully vaccinated tourists without restrictions before 2022.

The Government is doing its best to obtain vaccines but they are still in short supply. It has now been realised in Australia and China the only way out of the Pandemic is vaccination but the Chinese vaccines do not appear to be effective against the D variant the cheapest and surest way is to try and increase local manufacture of the AZ vaccine

Samui plus is more restrictive than Phuket Sandbox but there are no available flights to Phuket which do not involve transit through UK Red Zone countries therefore although would like to holiday in Thailand this for me is presently not an option as would mean a very expensive hotel quarantine upon return to the UK.

Most of the comments are criticisms without any realistic alternative ideas. Making Phuket a hub for International tourist arrivals and reducing compulsory stay to 7 days is a good way to enter Samui afterwards provided all restrictions lifted in Samui

Surely should be indefinite leave to stay. Problem would be law may change at any time and investment devalued lost or highly taxed. Any increase in property prices would be detrimental to the Thai people for a short time gain

Probably biggest import presently is Covid vaccines but these are essential to bring infections under control. Weaker Baht will make imports more expensive but should encourage tourism.

It seems to vary from Province to Province. I registered at Hua Hin hospital back in May, and was given an appointment for 7 July with the assurance of 2 AstraZeneca jabs.
The date arrived and they had no vaccines; we have been checking their website every day, and as of this morning the cupboard is still bare. I was also informed that rather than the 2 AZ jabs, it would now be 1st jab Sinovac, and 2nd, AZ. I will turn down the Sinovac, as it is not accepted by the UK health authority, and I have a return trip booked. I remain as discombobulated as everyone else on here.
Check vaccination requirements for entering UK.

At least the Government is trying to obtain vaccines and must continue as this appears to be the only way out of the Pandemic. True better late than never but no one anticipated the virus would reappear so strongly. Australia and New Zealand have controlled the viras by isolating themselves but the viras now proving it recognises no borders they are both behind with their vaccination programmes but they may be in the same position as Thailand in the coming months.

Which countries in South East Asia are not suffering a Covid surge? The problem is lack of availability sufficient vaccines. What is the situation in China are they vaccinating or selling their vaccines to other countries. Realistically Thailand is not ready to open for tourism lets hope things will improve to catch the December/January high season without quarantine.

Let's hope more vaccines can be obtained soonest to control the viras as this looks like the only way out of this pandemic. Meanwhile so many are suffering for so long owing lack of tourists who were their only source of income. The Phuket and Samui schemes are only catering for a few guests of high income hotels which of little if no benefit to poor Thai families

AZ came up with a good idea to do local production in SE Asia, if indeed they came up with the idea themselves, but they shot themselves in the foot but giving the whole production to one small company with no experience or track record in vaccine production. A back up factory in Thailand and/or elsewhere was the obvious thing to do, if they wanted to proceed with such a partner.
Now Thailand is gong to have to severly curtail or ban exports. So there is not much point in AZ trying to bargain to cut the Thai orders. The same thing happened to them in India. There is nothing they can do against a sovereign power. In the EU they are being sued for non-delivery.
The problem with AZ vaccine it is too cheap in comparison with other manufacturers which means it is receiving such large orders it cannot possibly cope as it was never meant for countries who could afford to pay the commercial cost being asked by other companies

Seems like a good idea to me, I would assume its been discussed at length this last month with AZ and the "local partner" and they have said you need to put into place some legislation that covers our behinds with the other customers who have ordered or are ordering now in front of you.
I am wondering why we don't see any news about expansion of facilities as production is obviously not meeting demand anywhere. IMHO the governments (everywhere) should be building facilities for AZ. JJ. etc and the like, it's surely the cheapest option right now rather than waiting and seeing economic disaster continuing. .To manufacture AZ vaccine needs ingredients from other countries so if Thailand decides to restrict exports other countries may restrict vital components. Unfortunately Thailand was late in realising importance of vaccines owing initial low infections rates. Every effort should be made to increase production as it is essential entire population vaccinated in order to control the viras avoiding the Chinese vaccines if they are not effective. China is being very quiet so wonder how they are now experiencing the Pandemic.

Looks like not genuine tourists coming for holidays but just a better way to avoid more restrictive quarantine in Bangkok.

Sandbox is not for genuine tourists coming to Thailand for a holiday. It is just too risky, inconvenient and very expensive.

If the Chinese vaccines are ineffective does anyone know what is happening in China?

It appears that it is known the Chinese vaccines may not be effective and for this reason AZ vaccine administers to Phuket and Samui residents. Should not the most vulnerable be vaccinated first before residents of these islands and opening for tourists arriving from by Airlines from high risk counties in the middle East be paused.

The only certain result is that there will be a winner and a loser. Just give a moment to appreciate the extreme stress being experienced by the players of both sides and hope they will be able to deal with it.

It's so sad the virus is getting out if control. The only way out is much stricter lock down and intensified efforts made to try and obtain sufficient vaccines other than chinese if these have proven to be ineffective against the D variant as vaccination seems to be the only way out of the crisis.

Should be mutual considering the UK has 3x the number of daily new cases of Thailand.
Agree close borders and try to expedite availability of suitable vaccines. It seems inevitable that tourist season has now been lost for another year

Thailand reaches 1 million COVID-19 cases, plans vaccine boosters

The best solution is to do utmost to increase production of AZ vaccine in Thailand. If Chinese vaccines are ineffective why waste money ordering more. More worrying is what is China doing to vaccinate its people if their vaccines are ineffective there is a high risk of the viras getting out of control there and creating futher variants.
