In an MEN system, we would normally cover just the 3 incomers as the Neutral is grounded anyhow at the MEN link. In Thailand however, who knows what connection you (or others down the street) have on the neutral. There are four pole units available.

Drop In Concrete Masonry Anchors in Thailand?
bluejets replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
We used to call them a right pain in the butt. Only place they worked was in overhead concrete where the concrete dust from the drilling process fell out and left a clean hole. Otherwise, used in a floor, the dust left behind in the bored hole gets thrown up into the thread as one puts the piece in place. Result is, thread engages until it hits the dust in the thread, jams and spins the whole caboodle ....cannot get the things in or out. Far better to used standard ramset bolt as below. Or, if you like perhaps Anka Screws. -
Not uncommon to get loose cabling at breakers....some elcheapo brands have terminations that simply refuse to tighten any further than first attempt. i.e. tighten screw and it locks when in contact with the cable........decent breakers will allow an amount of extra tension on the terminal screws. That plus cabling with say seven strands, much more difficult to get a good tight fit as opposed to the "flexi" type.

In days gone by one could fit an electronic starter. These days either fit an LED tube and supplied fuse to the starter socket and a label to identify "LED tube fitted" ..... or...as others have said.....buy an led fluro fitting. FYI .....Flashing can be caused by many things, knackered tube, low voltage, poor connections, wrong starter type. Most usual is people replace bits with elcheapo parts from unreliable suppliers.

Metal vs plastic electric wall boxes
bluejets replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in The Electrical Forum
Metal wallbox might stay stuck to the mortar better than plastic. Downside is the metal wall box needs to be earthed as the wall box will contain single insulated cabling. -
30 day extension of 30 day visa exempt entry
bluejets replied to Jetsam's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As I understand it, one has to have return airline ticket details to get 30 day exempt to begin with. So how do you reshedule your return for 30 days later, pay some kind of re-ticketing fee? Sounds like a lot of mucking around to me and a tourist visa application would be a better approach for the sake of being sure about ones plans. Cost would be around the same anyhow I'd imagine. extension fee.....re-ticketing fee..... -
Yes, well same this end so as they say, there ya go.

No, screw compressor. Like many things worldwide, some say pot-ar-to, some say pot-ate-o. example to chew on........ https://www.compressorsunlimited.com/blog/carrier-screw-compressors-the-basics

That depends largely on the size of the systems. location of the outdoor unit with respect to the fan coil unit and whether or not you require the system to be driven via a tarrif different to your power outlets. Some installations will have sufficient capacity on the power outlet circuits to handle to extra loading. Most installs these days are covered by combo circuit breaker elcb by law and maximum demand in final sub circuits is vastly different from a few years ago. That plus the majority of the RAC systems are screw compressors (quieter) inverter type given the compressor ramps up and down in speed depending on the heat load. Starting of these is much less demand on the cabling as opposed to the old problem when they were "bang" online run-of-the-mill compressors.

Tourism ministry dual pricing proposal for hotel rates
bluejets replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They don't need to get too greedy especially now as things are on the mend or they'll stuff it for good. Best to leave well alone. -
There are available corrogated conduits (flexi) which are UV resistant but I doubt you'll find any in Thailand. Another option is the grey pvc flex conduit which stands up really well outdoors but again......... Thailand. https://www.cabac.com.au/ccs2550 https://www.omegapower.com.au/product/conduit-flex-pvc-63mm-grey-15m/3011125

solar power is more missile resistant

I'll take bets that it's not working now....???? -
You'll get your best advice from local builders etc. on just who to get to advise you on rac installs. Installation can be near the same cost as the unit itself in Aus ( just plain money grab considering what installation entails) and most systems supplied and installed here in Aus are reverse cycle. Most bedrooms pull up at around 3kw and lounge around 5kw. All these days are inverter type and fairly efficient. Savings can be made by connection to lower rate tarrif but at the inconvienience of what times you can use the system and in most cases not worth the bother. Two splits would be the way I would suggest and I think you'll find the same advice from other rac installers. Go with a well known brand as a cheapie will always be waiting to bite you. Plenty of advertising on TV etc. which will show which is which of the former there as well as the installer guys.

Rear view mirrors would have to surely otherwise how could one see rearwards??? Trucks, busses, all have them. Even in the same Op photo, the truck on the left, it is clearly shown. Looks actually about the same distance out from the truck as the "offending mudflaps" of the one in front right. I think the Op just needs to learn to drive to the conditions. What happens when a float with a dozer onboard comes the other way, still claim rights to one side of the road..?? I think not.....

As Dad used to say, there should be a solid wired connection between the horn button and the brake pedal.

How to earth a new domestic electrical supply?

Have you seen the cost of that slotted duct....?? Perhaps not. Last hospital we did here in Aus we used this stuff. Easy to work with but as usual, still requires threaded rod hangers.

Red plate at night - real world experience
bluejets replied to pazienza's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Red plates in Aus must be a different breed of fish as they are issued here if you have enough dosh. Often wondered as to the practicality though....must be hard to see at night.....especially for us old buggers. -
is covid insurance still required?
bluejets replied to ilikethai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I always get travel insurance from a company in Aus to cover time from departure to arrival back again. Wonder if the companies currently offering "travel and covid 19 insurance" from Thailand will be still operational and able to cover the needs should they arrive in the future as they tend to be rather competitive in their policy pricing. Especially when time in Thailand goes over the visa exempt 30 days......... maybe 45 days by November if we are lucky from what i hear. Planning to come back early November. We pushed it back a couple of months hoping things would improve, so good news for us and many others I'd imagine.
