  1. Having lived and worked in a strict islamic country for over 30 years all i can say is a lot of people in that faith are ticking timebombs. Ive seen easy going types switch to extreme after a few weeks of religious teaching. Ive watched westerners convert becoming strict islamists to the extent their security intelligence agency interviewed them multiple times on returning to their home country I cant see a sensible reason why western countries want to import these people and their values.
  2. Have you been tested for helicobactor pylori? Nothing seemed to fix my gerd until my doc tested and gave me the treatment. A handful of meds each day for a week?
  3. Took a few weeks to get my yellow book then a week after that for pink card as they had to order one in. I was only the 6th person in my amphur to get one and 1st that year. Yellow book accepted last year when renewing my drivers licence. Pink card is sometimes useful. Free entry into the Grand Palace. Thai price at some attractions like elephant village TaTum Surin Used it for I.D. passing security at airports Some hotels dont require passport if shown pink I.D.
  4. Shooter identified as afghan national.
  5. As someone who's spent 30+ years living and working in strict islamic countries the burka has no place in Australia. Just look at places like Saudi where mutawas have had their powers reduced and see all the saudi women no longer wearing them. The same goes for flying. Burka wearing women soon change into western clothes once the aircraft takes off. It appears there are a higher percentage of strict islamists in Australia than in strict islamic countries. Time to clip their wings too.
  6. Probably taken to show theyre doing their job. My Mrs is always taking pics when out inspecting or away on conferences. Most get posted on their work line group or like yesterdays special parade on her personal Facebook. Pics posted on the work line group are used as proof to auditors they performed the tasks.
  7. No problems sending to my SCB account. Usually there in minutes. Recently used their wise digital card on my phone for tap and go payments in Japan. Instant with very good exchange rate.
  8. Im away from the tourist/expat scene nowadays. I remember back in 85 drinking with the aussie owner of a small beachside bar next to patong beach bungalows in phuket He left around lunchtime saying he was heading to bangkok for a flight home. Next morning the girls were all sad. He'd been caught drug smuggling on his way out at Don Mueang
  9. Watching youtube scambaiter type vids I often see intercepts where indian based scammers try to have victims to send money to Thai bank accounts.
  10. Maybe this? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-15022913/Google-database-hacked-2-5-BILLION-users.html
  11. This is a copy of a reminder message sent out by MoPH earlier this year passed to me by one of their staff. It could explain the problems obtaining Aspirin
  12. I had my systems installed a few years ago and prices have changed a lot. Huawei battery costs up 150+% etc. I've found the more battery you have the lower your power bill will be. I've also found huawei will only accept huawei batteries. Other systems are more flexable. Another thing to take into account is your elec usage will increase as you relax due to free solar. Huawei techs recommended higher panel input. I have 14.9kw panels feeding the 10kw inverters and 7.5kw panels feeding the 5kw system. My 10kw system is in a combined commercial/residential building with a daily usage 50kwh upwards. The battery is usually down to its minimum 20% around 2000 hrs. The 5kw system is a commercial building open 0800 - 2000 daily. Daily usage varies around 30kw.
  13. I have 2 huawei systems. A 10kw single phase (2 x 5kw inverters) with 15kw battery. The other a 5kw 3phase no battery system. Although happy with their reliability, i suggest studying the cost/compatibility of batteries if future expansion is required. There are cheaper options out there.
  14. The late 50ish blond white aussie? woman in paragon food court claiming to be the descendent of a former thai king. Claims an ATM swallowed both her cards and needs some money for a taxi and hotel bill.
  15. They've been known to make their way up to the bowl through the plumbing from the septic tank.

Safety first, i hope youre better at safety than maps. Ubon Ratchathani is about 60kms east of Sisaket. Whereas Udon Thani is 300+ kms to the north of Sisaket.

Try any pharmacy. Show them a photo or written names if needed. I know Imported brands like Amlodac are available and cheaper generic strips from GPO (government pharmaceutical organisation) Show the pharmacist the name of your 2nd med. Theyll know what it is. Ubon has at least one huge wholesale medical supply warehouse not open to the public stocking everything from kids vitamin c jellies to hospital beds. The wholesaler also has a normal pharmacy next to Warin Chamrap market. Sorry, cant help with prices as i get mine for wholesale.
  19. Cant say I've met any SAS in thailand bars but I knew 2 genuine Air America guys both deceased. One in Khon Kaen, the other in Pattaya. Also met 2 genuine ex SAS but in Saudi. One was head of the company security. The other was brought in after a terrorist attack on our compound. He briefed us on ways to be aware of surroundings and get out of trouble.
  20. Looks like my memory was bad and i was remembering setting up the new account transfer details with my bank. https://wise.com/help/articles/240ocTVUrwPslKhVXZcQ2u/were-changing-your-aud-account-details
  21. I wonder if this is the reason. A while back wise changed their bank account numbers. Opened a wise account a few years ago. About a year ago they said that account number was being phased out and to open a new account with them. I only updated to this new account last month after receiving a similar message. The new account is a different branch and account number. I transfer to this new wise account from my bank then send from the new wise account. It is fast and no messages.
  22. I recently had a similar problem. Couldn't find my original blue book. You can only get a replacement and as the dealer said expect the value of your car to drop. Private buyers are wary also. I was lucky. My broker kept saying they had returned it to me. My original blue book was eventually found at DLT and returned to me when the broker asked for a replacement.
  23. Years ago I remember meeting a few american contractors in Saudi who had rental wives. They had an official marriage to enable the wife to get a Saudi visa but a private agreement on how long this paid marriage would last.
  24. Having been married to one for over 2 decades and know of 2 other farangs within 60 km of me also married to pharmacists its not impossible to meet or date them. However me excluded they tend to mix with professionals their level or above. There's also lot of unmarried pharmacists either career girls or left it too late to marry. Suggest asking around if she's married or in a relationship. Adding line is a good idea. Don't expect to jump into bed the 1st date. You'll possibly find she'll bring a friend "chaperone" the first few dates.
