  1. I'm doing my first renewal with extension based on marriage to a Thai and at least 40,000 THB foreign income. (All the previous ones were business or retirement)
Can immigration demand 400K in a Thai bank if you're already proving well over 40K a month in foreign income? They way I read it it's- keep 400K in the bank OR show 40K in foreign income. OF if you don't have the 40K each month, or the 400K in the bank then it's a combination, maybe 20K income and 200K in a TH bank (don't quote me on the combo method ratios).

I have never heard showing them over 40K every month and they being asked "can you put 400,000 in the bank for two months too?

Last year it seemed to drag on and get more personal and more intrusive. They'd give me a task list showing every document I needed. I would fulfill the request to the "T" and then they'd want some thing they never mentioned before, or tell me they don't really need the bank letter that cost me 100-200 baht and at least an hour of my time to hunt down.
I bring back the docs from the new request and they'd ask for something new again. I went back a half dozen times at least.
They said I was the only one in the province who had two sources of income (which I find hard to believe) and that's why it's so complicated, for them.

Last year upon successful renewal, the 2nd level boss at immigration promised me that it would be a breeze next renewal (now) because they figured out what they needed and gave me a list. They said bring in all these docs in 2021, make sure they always have foreign transfers of more than 40K and it will just be stamp, stamp, stamp, sign, sign, sign, pay and you're done.

I brought them the TH bank statement for the previous 12 months showing well over 40K in foreign transfers each and every months, just like the asked. I brought in the pension forms and foreign bank statements showing not only the money flowing from my U.S. bank to my TH bank. and showing the source of income (  passive rental income).

She was going thorough and checking everything off, "yes, yes, good, yes"... I had it all; two copies of 70 page stacks of paper, She verified I had more than enough income every single month and then said to bring my wife with next week so they can interrogate her again, plus update my bank book, bring two copies of every page of it, and new photos. "No problem!" I said "Is that it, is there anything else I need to bring or copy?".

Then she asks "could you transfer 400K into your account and leave it there two months"? I said  "No". "I read your rules, I did this exact same thing last year and it says 40K P/M OR 400,000 on deposit" not "AND".

So what's the problem here? Did they want me to do both in case some boss is moody so they're be a backup plan ? Did they assume it was just  a simple matter of pulling 400K off the farang  money tree and leave it in a bank her instead?

She asked me the way I'd ask "do you have a light?" "can I borrow a paperclip", do you have change for a 20? Just off the cuff. I asked why and she said "well if my boss,  bla, bla, mumble, mumble and by that time I was done decoding data and didn't ask for clarificion. I'll see what they say on Tuesday.

Has anyone heard of this particular bureaucracy and  inconsistencies?

Is he actually saying that Thais are lying to Thais along with the rest of the world? This surely can't be true...

No, he’s not saying anyone is lying, he’s saying that cases are being underreported because people are doing their own tests and home and self-isolating rather then telling the government and being thrown in some crappy field hospital for two weeks because of it. The government can’t be expected to report what it doesn’t know.

Bottom line-there are MORE people infected than are represented in the official daily figures so the actual infection rate is higher.

    The Junta in power decides

Science decides. It’s obvious the lies they’re talking about are the same ones that are causing the spread in the U.S. and causing vaccine hesitancy there.

Lies from antivaxxers pushing lies about non-existent side effects, lies about the realist chances of side effects, stupid comments saying more people die from the vaccines than the virus. Lies that vaccinations are causing infections.

Lies from people that claim wearing masks cause hypoxia and hypercapnia, skin infections and mask cancer. Lies from conspiracy theorists claiming the pandemic was planned and it’s about controlling people and taking away rights.

The scaremongering they’re concerned about is people who urge other not to get vaccinated because they think it will cause infections or infertility or a myriad of other imaginary issues. I haven’t seen any MSM overplaying the risks of a pandemic that’s already killed a few people, it’s always “woke” conspiracy theorists downplaying the situation. The government, like most intelligent people would prefer to err on the side of caution and not encourage risky behavior or dissuade people from doing what it takes to end the pandemic.

I realize most of you are just here waiting for something to bitch about or a reason to be cynical but, this isn’t that difficult to understand.

For 100 baht insurance, I'm pretty sure those 'side-effects' will be deemed NOT side effects by some hospitals but other things

I’m only paying 600฿ a year for 100,000฿ Covid insurance. The cost is proportional to the risk. The side effect insurance is only 100฿ for the same reason $100,000 travel insurance is so cheap- airplanes rarely crash and people very rarely need to be treated for vaccine side effects.

That's interesting.  What is the name of the app you downloaded?  There was mention earlier of a Chonburi-specific site but nothing more was said about that.  I realize people use words like app and site somewhat interchangeably.  So do you really mean app?  Or site?

For example, Line is an app.   Doctors Ready (mor prom) is a Line Official Site.  Phuket has a Phuket-specific website called (in English) www.PhuketMustWin.com (the actual name is in Thai:  https://xn--12cmj6ba0a7b3g4a6fud5d2a.com/).

What was the name of whatever it was you were downloading?

It was an app on the Apple store.

I was informed by a doctor in the Cannabis Clinic in Pranburi that use of any THC product is limited to people dying of cancer or suffering from Parkinson disease. That's pretty much the definition of 'non-recreational' I think!

I think it may be medical staff and not only the people who must be better informed. We're still a long way from any meaningful drug reform here.

I have prescriptions from three Thai doctors, (all certified to prescribe cannabis) for neuropathy.

The only problem at the moment is that the FDA gave hospitals the option beginning 1 Jan 2020 to decide if they only wanted to dispense to Thai citizens or to all residents and the government hospitals in Ubon decided to discriminate.

It may surprise some people here that I and many other foreigners received permission to grow and possess cannabis from the FDA the beginning of 2019.

And if you follow the news you saw an article a few months back about a Thai who was growing nine plants for personal use and the police only charged him for the four plants over the five he was legally allowed to have.

I would have no problem walking into any police station with my prescription and a bottle of THC extract and asking if they’re okay with it.

Whats the difference here between medical marijuana and non medical marijuana?

In most places the main difference is the amount of testing required before it’s sold. In the Netherlands medical marijuana must be tested free of pesticides, fungicides, mold, mildew and other pathogens and then sterilized with non-ionizing radiation. Coffee shops don’t have the same requirement.

In areas with legal recreational cannabis many of the same tests are required.

Medical cannabis is also made from strains that were chosen to be most effective in the disease they’re intended to treat. THC to CBD ratios and levels, cannabinoid profiles and terpene profiles in order to assure a consistent dose. .
