Does anyone know the current Bangkok price of a unit of electricity?
My apartment manager claims that the 5 baht per unit price that I am charged for electricity is the actual cost from the Utility Company. I don’t believe him.
Is it simply a matter of getting someone’s bill direct from the Utility Company and doing the math?
Aloha
most apartment nor condo unit use the same rate 5 baht per unit. but this is not the actual rate. many my friend got this charges as well.

Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who will preside over the launch of the campaign in early June, will lead a drive to encourage people nationwide to turn off lights as part of a blitz to economise on electricity and oil consumption.
as he continually reinforces that his lights are on , but there is nobody at home.
How about this for an alternative - enforce every truck and bus in the nation to be serviced and repaired - will result in a more efficient engine and less pollution - cor , two dodos with the one rock.
encourage the sale of energy efficient air conditioners and the correct installation of them - ie. the placement of the heat exchanges , how many of them are placed in the sun.

I sympathise with you.
I had the same problem of having to support the entire family.
I was pleased when the sister-in-law married another falang.
I then found myself supporting the falang as well.
I am now divorced.

1) National Counter Corruption Commission - "suspended jail terms for awarding themselves a pay rise"
2) Miss Universe Costume competition - Thailand awarded 1st prize. 2 Thai ladies that I know were appalled that Thailand won. Both looked at the Thia lady and her costume, made faces and said, "mai suay".
3) Airport corruption and delays - denial, denial, denial
4) 4th consecutive month of foreign trade deficit (many negative firsts since 1997) - attitude of "everything will be OK with recovery in latter part of the year".
5) Major infrastucture projects expected to fuel Thailand economy over the next 10 years. Small mention that delays may be necessary due to lack of funding. No mention of the potential impact.
Just some of the very recent events in Thailand that make me wonder about the future of Thailand.
I should add that I have been living here for 18 months on US retirement income and my lifestyle is fabulous compared to what it would be in the US and I am definitely here for the long term.
And it's different anywhere else in the world? I don't think so

I am glad to hear that from all of you guys . I didn't live there but I visited my friends around. Almost all my thai friends are from Issan.

This is why I love living in Isaan you dont have to put up with wining falang bull shit. Both my bikes are loud and no one complains. The head copper even told me I could ride my CR 250 any where I wanted dirt and road just slow it down when in the villige. What can I say bangkok sux.
Really so where do you live I have a V8 with a full house mouse motor in a
T-Bucket and some megahones I will be sure to come by your house late late late at night and cut a few brodies, now do you think that would bother you
If not then you sure have thick skin
Maybe you should have just said 'thick' Capt Canada42. Anyone with half a brain and even the village idiot knows that loud noise seriously damages your hearing. Been there done that with military aircraft.
Cars are limited to 85dB and bikes 95dB. 10dB doesn't sound much but the scale is logarithmic, so it is 10 times louder! YES YOU DID READ IT RIGHT TEN TIMES LOUDER every 10 dB.
Try looking at this website all you noisy idiots. www.zyra.org.uk/db.htm

Actually even without campaign induce by the goverment, if the people are aware for what they are doing in everyday life, then they may found such importance of conservation. everybody knows by cutting out unneccessary usage of electricity, fuel etc...etc...can benefit their self and big reward for their country. but who cares? only few individuals care of it...majority doesn't care!, but, I hope this project bring out success anyway.

this is a great job of the government, TOT and NGO's

I recon that this picture was a kind of undiplomatic toward Buddhism, but talking about Thai culture, tradition and religion. I think that Thais themselves are the most perverted and are loosing their value at great speed. For an average Thai, Bhudda is Thai and is to be worshipped with money donations in order to get it back with lottery prizes. The Monks themselves will encourage donation by suggesting that it brings long life and wealth. Many Monks will pretend that they are enlighted themselves or on the way to be enlighted or that they have "super power" like guessing the numbers of the next lotery. This is absolutely forbidden by monastic laws, one of the 4 most serious offence. A Monk who do that is not a Monk anymore and have to disrobe immediatly. But so many monks do that... And everyody happy. This is not Thailand, not Thai culture, not Thai tradition, not Bhuddism. It's a new religion which came out the last 15 years or so. Such a pity, because Buddhism teaching culd be of such great value, even in present time. But now, people worship cars and TVs. If this country want to keep its values and traditions, it should educate its people better, so they understand values, traditions and religion.
very true, agree for this post

Indians held for robbing Australian
When they got to Boss Mansion, Sauraj was in the room and offered group sex. The man agreed and took a shower, after which he was robbed of Bt2,000, handcuffed and forced to give his credit card PIN number.

Check the place out carefully with the owner, and make a note of any defects on the contract.Things such as cracked tiles or screw holes in the wall, marks on the furniture.
Long time ago I had an apartment in soi 36 Bangkok, when it came to leave they tried to charge me B100 for all the places where previous tenants had hung pictures
yeah. its true, you should be carefully check the contract as well the location of the building. normally they required a deposit of 3-6 mothns.

foreigners pose much higher credit risk than normal thais. That's why the credit card regulations are stricter than thais, but not that much strict if you have a good running of your account. All depends upon if your job has been old enough,at least 3 years plus you have a good running account.
that was absolutely true
It may help, if you got any existing credit card with fast 3 months billing receipt.

I am working and I love to stay here! I'd found a great deal to stay and the second things is Thailand is not so worst as other think. Everywhere in the world may happen this kind of crime or even worse than we have in here.
We have to accept the truth and the handicap of each individuals.

Hi dudes,
I'm wondering why in my ex country when they renovate a road or make a new pavement, the road is perfectly flat, but in Thailand, even in BANGKOK, roads are NEVER flat (in a country where it sometimes rain so much...).
Is it because they dunno ? Don't mind? Use cheaper material? Does it takes too much time to make it nice? What else?
Not a big thing, but just wondering why not doing things perfectly right away?
Do I forget it's a developping country?
Thanks.
If they make roads 'perfectly flat' in your ex country then when it rains the water will not run off of the road very quickly and will tend to make deep puddles which will make vehicles either go very slow or if going faster they will hydroplane and slide all over the place causing accidents. Good roads are built with a slight slope (usually 2% slope minimum) so that water runs off quickly...
agree!

I think his remarks are especially true of the North. The North sucks. His remarks are not so true of the South. My advice is if you don't want the misfortune he describes is to go South....not North....definitely not North...definitely.....
just wonder if you are living in North?

its a very good news . at least this guy pays the price of his crimes.
-
so what drove this man to kill this 'innocent' people? what did they do at the restaurant? what did they say?
Does it matter, whatever happened that night the brutal, cold-blooded murder of two people was not justified... and now he pays the price of his crimes, as convicted by a court of law in Thailand.
Agree!
