Report Tourist Fined for Risky Elephant Encounter in Khao Yai National Park
jcmj replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
500 baht for a once in a lifetime picture. I’m sure it didn’t really bother him. If they want to stop this they need to patrol the roads and give hefty fines. -
Report Covid-19 Resurgence in Thailand: Over 8,000 Cases Reported in a Week
jcmj replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It’s just the freaking flu. They are just fueling this Covid wave to have an excuse for the lack of visitors and now due to their own ignorance, less people will come. They want another lockdown.- 174 replies

Until they get Thailand back to its former glory it’s a waste of money, especially on the Chinese. Fix the infrastructure, sidewalks, police patrols, traffic, 10x up pricing for foreigners, hanging wires and the mess. Clean up the beaches every morning. So much they need to do here before they spend that kind of money getting people here only to be disappointed. Thailand has lost its way and the other countries are finding theirs. Maybe TAT need to take a flight to Vietnam or Malaysia and see why they are getting the tourists. Yes money is a big factor with the inflated Baht, but they also should have learnt from their past mistakes not to put all their eggs in one basket. When they go, and they are, then this is what happens.

Report Desperate for School Funds, Thai Families Turn to Pawn Shops
jcmj replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe the casinos can fund the kids uniforms and books. The government should considering how badly the education system is going. My daughter has a Thai English teacher who teaches them English in Thai and the English that they do teach is a joke and almost always has 2 possible answers. If they want to improve their education they must improve the quality of the teachers and their materials. -
Economy Vietnam Tourism Threat Looms: Could It Overtake Thailand?
jcmj replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They need to save their money on the campaign to get back the Chinese. Too late. Invest it in infrastructure and police training. Thailand’s a mess and it doesn’t help with the inflated baht. Even I’m thinking of a trip to Vietnam before it gets completely taken over by the Chinese. -
TM30 Self Reporting - system's stumped me.
jcmj replied to BusyB's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I co own a house here with my partner but just call my accountant every time I leave the country and come back and they just do it for me. Okay 1000 baht, which I know I could save doing it myself but I have better peace of mind letting them do it and me not screwing it up so if there are any issues I can just call them up. To each their own, but I know that Jomtien wanted one last year when I was doing my retirement visa. Maybe just picky. Not sure. -

And are they able to get to the big bosses in China? Sounds like they’ll get the ones here, but there are plenty of other places doing the same thing. -
Crime Foreign National Slaps Driver & Rams Van in Phuket Road Rage Incidents
jcmj replied to Georgealbert's topic in Phuket News
The king driving the Yaris needs some serious help and a time out. People who break the law here in this case assault need to be held accountable and fined and depending on his actions jailed and deported. I hate to say bring on the tough cops, but if they don’t do anything soon it will only get worse. And yes I’m a honker, but just a tap. The drivers here both local and foreign drive me crazy, especially on holidays. -
Crime British Tenant Trashes Pattaya Rental, Landlord Seeks Legal Action
jcmj replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
This is exactly why I don’t put anything of real value into my rental property. I did have an issue years ago and learnt from that. Now for the past 7-8 years I have no issues and I also have the agency renting the property responsible for the check out and to make sure it’s not trashed. If do it comes from the deposit or if more from the Agent. They bring the client and I hold them responsible and it makes them more responsible for who they show and rent the property to. Renters definitely need to get the first and last months rent plus the deposit and they will usually not have any issues. Now I do have staff to take care of the pool and garden and they are my eyes on the property every week. Little things pay off in the end. -
I wouldn’t worry about all this tax talk until someone actually goes through with it. Too many people try to scare us into registering for a tax I’d and what is and isn’t taxed. It’s all just up in the air right now. Blown up by a couple politicians. I’m not doing <deleted>e. It’ll take them years to get it sorted even if they try.

Is it worth it at 78 ? - Implant replacement teeth
jcmj replied to still kicking's topic in Health and Medicine
It’ll take you at least 6 months if you have good bones for them to drill into. Maybe best to do the plates that clip in on 4 pins top and bottom. Cheaper and still a great smile. Whatever makes you happy and will work. Best talk to a few different dentists. Mine were 35,000 baht each and only done because they were near the front together. I never worry about the top one in the back I’m missing. They have said it will shift for 25 years now. Still looks the same. Good luck. -

Report Thailand Ranked 7th Happiest Country in New Global Survey
jcmj replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Give it a freaking year. Think it’s all BS now well you can only pay for surveys for so long till the real citizens speak out. Instead of calling the Select few, how about calling your everyday Jo and getting the real insight. -
As always they think about maintenance after any accidents, never before and 2nd they should sue the hospital as well and they obviously need more emergency training. Sht happened and for one reason or the other, and maybe both, the poor man lost his life. Thailand is looking more and more like a place to be wary of rather than being a safe and welcoming place.

Hell, cheaper flights from America would help a lot and the UK and many other countries that have the quality tourists that used to come till they decided they only wanted the ASEAN nations,,well and the running Russians. Even the Russians who came 15 years ago were high rollers and great people. You did this to yourself Thailand. -
