  1. This is how one can enter Cambodia. Notice the insurance requirement:
  2. Don't know about the Airline lounges but the Ambassador Lounges were closed but the transit hotel was open. ANA was 1.5 hours to LAX and 3 hours to BKK. Korean was 7 hours to LAX and I don't recall on the way back. I checked EVA for January 2022 and no flights from BKK to LAX. Things might change? B777-300 ER
  3. The THA is like a nice private jail. The Changi "guards" smile and are pleasant. When it's time to go to your gate we all had to line up and be escorted by one of the "guards". Our group walked in a single file line. I resented this type of experience only because of my over 20 years in Law Enforcement. I got flashbacks when I transported prisoners to the Los Angeles County Jail. Others might not care about the Changi THA experience. This reason alone makes me want to pay more to fly with ANA next year.
  4. The word "best" might be difficult to narrow down. In the last year I have flown the following airlines on the BKK-LAX-BKK route. 1, Korean. Very good in all aspects and transit in Incheon was fine. More expensive than other options. 2. Singapore. No major complaints but transit at Changi is like being in jail for 7 hours. Transit passengers are restricted inside of the THA(Transit Holding Area). A cordoned off part the Terminal where food and drink options are limited unless you order food delivery($20 for a cheeseburger, no thanks). The cost was lower than Korean 3. ANA. So far my favorite. Great value and great cabin service. Transit in both Narita and Haneda were fine. It was a joy to enjoy an Asahi while waiting for connecting flight while in the terminal. The beer was only 120 yen so I had two. In the past I have flown EVA from CNX to LAX and back. These were the good old days when I could take an international without having to go to BKK. I would book with EVA again but since I have to leave from BKK I will probably go with ANA again early next year.
  5. Ah yes, You are correct. EVOO and not EEVO. I was drinking some cheap red wine from Rimping at the time(of course cheap red wine in Thailand is 300 Baht($9). For $9 dollars I could have bought 3 bottles of Charles Shaw wine at Trader Joe's in Los Angeles. Charles Shaw wine is also known as "2 Buck Chuck". This is one of the few reasons for going back to the USA.
  6. I don't care about living to 100. I care about maintaining good health for as long as possible. I prefer to stay out of the hospital and not see doctors on a regular basis. As we all age the body starts to break down. I would rather not speed the deterioration process. I have the usual aches, pains and illnesses like most of us who are closing in on old age but I try and maintain what I have. I do enjoy the occasional cheeseburger, pizza and all other foods that defines me as an American but as the Greeks said : "Everything in Moderation". This is just my formula for maintaining overall good health and as a result my BP has been in a good range for years. When I was in my mid 40's there was about a month when the BP hit 180/100. This was mostly due to stress from work and other areas.
  7. Wow. I haven't ate bacon in over 20 years. Also, I haven't had mayo in over 10 years. I only drink low fat milk(Sometimes almond milk), drink red wine(kind of tough in LOS when the cheapest bottle is 300 Baht) and my favorite buffet is the Sizzler Salad Bar. So my number should be up soon. Also, my BMI is 22. Enjoy that bacon sandwich. I have lived this current lifestyle for over 25 years but I would not recommend anyone who has lived differently to do anything I have been doing since Bubba Clinton left a stain on Monica's dress.
  8. I have been regular consumer of EEVO(Extra Virgin Olive Oil) for over 25 years. I combined that with intense cardio with moderate weight training and a low fat diet. This has yielded a consistent 115/75. One bio indicator that we all can check is heart rate. The ideal is 60 or less bpm. I do not have a BP machine and I check my pulse several times a day.
  9. The 1.2 Million Baht and the 100,000 Baht was posted on the Los Angeles Thai Consulate website for about a week. I just checked the website now and this is what is posted: 4. Bank statement or evidence of adequate finance showing – a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 Baht; or – an income certificate (an original copy) with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 Baht; or – a deposit account plus a monthly income totaling not less than 800,000 Baht. – In the case of submitting a bank statement, a letter of guarantee from the bank (an original copy) is required.
  10. Well good luck on your adventure. I have exited and entered Thailand twice in 2021. Of course this was under the old COE process and both times the COE was approved(after multiple rejections) by an employee at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. The process always took longer than I had planned for. Therefore, a tight time frame may not be a good idea. Really do not know if the Thailand Pass is quicker or smoother. The part that I am most interested in is if you can actually board a flight to Thailand from let's say Colombo or Kathmandu with a PCR test that was done in Bangkok?
  11. check each passenger's paperwork for location of PCR test. They did at LAX. By two Airline Employees. But your body was on a plane with other people that just left Thailand. Based upon your hypothetical scenario you would technically have entered another country and would have to check-in again for your planned flight back to Thailand. Therefore (however short this time was) you were exposed to others in another country. Hence a PCR Test should be done in the country where you check-in from and not from the country where you departed from.
  12. Wow, this scenario is possible but highly improbable. 1. To apply for the TP one must be a citizen or resident of the country where the specific Thai Embassy is located. So if you are a citizen or resident of Sri Lanka or Nepal then it can be done? Maybe? 2. You mention both Sri Lanka and Nepal where currently no quarantine requirements are stated but things change rapidly. 3. Hypothetically speaking let's say you get a PCR Test in Bangkok on a Monday and the result comes back on Tuesday and you fly out Tuesday night and land at your destination on Wednesday morning. Do you believe at check-in in order to return the airline is not going to see that your PCR Test was performed in Thailand.? I believe for predeparture PCR tests it must have been conducted in the same country?
  13. I use a VPN and subscribe to Peacocktv.com (NBC Streaming service). Plenty of SNL(new and old episodes). all current NBC programs and most importantly Sunday Night Football (of course live on Monday Morning in LOS) Much better than Netflix at $8.99. Peacock is $4.99 per month.
  14. Samsung AO2. Very affordable, small storage, average processor and adequate performance. In the US it was under $100 unlocked. I think some of the shops have them. I would not buy a phone from one of the major cell phone companies.
  15. Chiang Mai Ram had a combo package(Endoscopy and Colonoscopy) for 40,000 early this year. The prep for the colonoscopy was the standard(a light lunch and avoid vegetables). In the US the prep began at lunch time but here in LOS the prep started at 400PM. Anyway painless and more or less no issues(a tiny benign polyp). No complaints and no aftereffects. Will probably return in 5 years for another colonoscopy.
  16. There is a reason why the acronym T.I.T.(This Is Thailand) and the saying Same, Same but Different” are so prevalent. Thailand is a great country but is not so great in understanding or accommodating those with certain conditions or needs. For instance Thailand is not so great if one is mobility challenged or has a mask exemption. “Hope for the best but plan for the worst”. Good luck.
  17. For the COE no. Do not know if under the Thailand Pass the Agoda document would be acceptable? The actual letter from the hotel had to be uploaded into the COE portal.
  18. I booked with Agoda twice in 2021 for Quarantine in BKK. It took 2 days to get the booking confirmation from the hotel so I could upload it to the then COE website.
  19. The Good Old Days of "border hopping" are probably over. The last time I did a one day trip to anywhere was Malaysia in 2019. Some borders are open and many are still closed. Hopping out and back into Thailand will be difficult because(especially through the air) it could take up to 7 days to get the Thailand Pass approved, ensure that one has the proper insurance and get the Covid 19 PCR test. I have an Non Imm OA Visa and in the "good old days" hopping out and in would get me an additional year stamped in my passport but not anymore. I have left and entered Thailand twice in 2021 and both times it was proverbial 'pain in the ass" to get all the steps completed(then it was the COE process). Personally I do not intend to leave Thailand unless I absolutely need to.
  20. From the CM Ram FB Page about the number of Covid 19 Tests they will conduct on a daily basis. So don't the 61st person: *It does not sound like they take appointmenst? Chiang Mai Ram Hospital has issued a #Notice of COVID-19 testing. ---- From October 22nd, 2021, onwards COVID-19 testing by the RT-PCR technique. There will only be 60 individuals every day unless something changes. . Thank you for constantly putting your trust in our services. . Chiangmai Ram Hospital
  21. That was not what I was told. I was also told 3500 baht for the PCR test and that I would have to come back to the hospital to pick up the lab report. I have been a frequent guest at Ram over the years and even have the Silver Level Chiang Mai Ram Frequent Flyer card which entitles me to a 10% discount(but not on the PCR test).
  22. For Ram I had to actually go in and ask in person. No information on PCR testing on the hospital website. I was quoted 3500 Baht for the PCR test with the evening lab report if I come in before 1200. After 1200 then the result would be next day. I
  23. Ah, I have never waited in the car because one has to make an appointment. I arrived by Grab, get out, the technician verifies my identity, she swabs and then I leave. This takes about 5 minutes. The clinic is also very small and the PCR Test Lab result has been sufficient to board international flights. No need to pay the 200 Baht. .I intend to use this clinic on all my future international travel PCR testing needs.
  24. 2800? EricTh, really do not know But so far that is cheapest I can find for same day results. They used to charge 3100 baht but I guess "times are tough" in old Chiang Mai?
