  1. Very few are “Normal”. If I was “normal” I would probably would not have ever moved to LOS. My first year I met a guy who said he had two passports(I presumed he was a dual citizen?). Anyway his favorite topic was a well known visa agency that can do “everything” for the right price and I should contact them immediately and mention his name. He failed to register the fact I was on an OA and was good for almost two years. He had never heard of an OA visa and kept on talking about this magical visa agency. I avoid this guy as much as I can. HIs other pitch was for an optometrist who did LASIK. He again said I should get my eyes done even though I had excellent vision. Also, I had to mention his name if I contact the optometrist. I never contacted the Visa Agency or the optometrist. Anyway, I prefer to have conversations that do not require the “hard sell”.
  2. But as usual she said the key word that most are yelling out loud: "Free". Many might support her if she had said in a humble manner that because of her large size she would be willing to pay extra for a larger seat. I do recall that there are things called "Business" class seats that are bigger. But what I do know. This just appears to be a growing trend in America where 1) It is not my fault 2) It is not my responsibility 3) It has to be free or someone else has to pay. The other con that I have heard from some former Law Enforcement friends is this. When a black person is stopped for shoplifting many are saying "this is reparations for slavery and you can't arrest me". Kind of odd because California never had slaves from Africa. I might be going back to the US permanently next year and I can't wait to sell all this in person. Actually not really.
  3. As an American I am utterly speechless at the things that are coming out of my home country.
  4. Confirmed. Went by the CNX Central Festival location and it was closed.
  5. First time in BKK was 17 years ago and I ended up at this Foodland and had lunch at the coffee shop and it was very good. Too bad it is not mostly empty.
  6. Especially after all the 300 Baht waters guns are sold.
  7. ???? Buckle up and brace yourself for an unforgettable journey! ???? Trust EVA Air to deliver top-notch service and make your travel dreams a reality. Don't settle for less - book your flight with us today! ✈️ ????: @gura._.aviation #EVAAIR #FlyWithConfidence #iflyevaair #travelwithevaair #evaairways #EVAAIR #QualityService #BookNow Eva, Air China now fly regularly out of Chiang Mai. Might consider Chiang Mai as the place to depart from Thailand. Also, Korean flies out of Chiang Mai as well. ‘ I fly to Los Angeles twice a year from Thailand(have done it from Chiang Mai and BKK). Eva had the shortest transit time in TPE(only 3 hours). Eva Air was the most expensive from CNX. Eva Air cabin service was excellent. I just booked my next trip to LAX from CNX on Korean($950 round trip). I believe all these carriers fly to YVR(Vancouver). Also, check on Kayak as well.
  8. Well my experience was working in Kuwait and things were more or less Black and White there. The best times were the days I spent in Dubai, Doha or Manama. Pretty much anything one wanted and could afford was available in Dubai. But in the end I turned down a job in Dubai because I just got tired of living in that part of the world. It is not for everyone.
  9. I would not disagree. If I had 500K I would have never discovered LOS.
  10. HIs 15 minutes of fame passed the sell by date a long time ago. Will she stay when his YouTube fame fades?
  11. So the first impact will be the oil drum? It is painted like a target. A better idea might be plastic barrels filled with water. Never mind the barrel and the water will be stolen.
  12. Recently Robet Kiyosaki said buy Crypto and Gold. I won't be doing this. So I will go down with the dollar.
  13. Anyone recently attempt to obtain a long term visa for these places? I would love to live in Singapore but I'm just lacking the $500,000 in my account. Dubai and Bahrain were great places to stay for about 3 days and then the newness wears off.
  14. I see backpackers all over Chiang Mai. I saw two talking over whether or not to eat at my favorite Thai Restaurant. In the end they walked because Ginger Chicken with steamed rice was 80 Baht. It’s 80 Baht because the quality of the food is good and every dish is made to order. More backpackers are needed to keep the hostels going strong.
  15. "And masking up would also be sensible in areas where the PM2.5 particulate matter was high." ??? That would be everywhere for us in Chiang Mai. Also, what if I get doused with water? This will surely ruin the mask I am wearing (what is this 2020 again). Lately whenever the AQI below 200 it is a good day. Wait I spoke to soon because the AQI is now 245 and we are just two days from the start of Songkran.
  16. I would disagree. I briefly worked for a major US Insurance company and went to their Claims Handling school just outside of Chicago and the unstated message was always: Find a way to deny and if we have to pay “low ball them”. This was never on paper but everyday these two things were drilled into our heads.
  17. All insurance policies have two basic sections: 1) Perils, what is covered 2) Exclusions, what is not covered. Guess which part is bigger? Yes, Exclusions. The general rules for insurance coverage are: 1) It has to be an accident or an accidental occurrence 2) The policy holder must take all precautions to prevent the accident *This means nothing that can be interpreted as being risky or dangerous such as bungee jumping, riding an elephant or even riding on a motorcycle without a helmet, driving under the influence or the infamous “catchall clause” which means any insurance company can deem any activity as risky or dangerous. In essence all insurance companies can find a way out of paying on claims or minimize the amount they pay. On that note enjoy your holiday.
  18. I was being Sarcastic because of the horrendous air quality. You understand sarcasm?
  19. So the request will be only until April 13? Because how can one got out and celebrate Songkran while working from home?
  20. That's almost $10,000 per day. Even in the US that would be difficult to achieve. I mean even with an Emergency Room visit with the remaining time in an ICU might come to that in a major US Hospital but in the Land of Smiles?
  21. Bush left office in 2009. The actual government of Afghanistan was toppled in August 2021. For Bush and Rusmfeld (the real power in that White House) it was about 3 things in terms of foreign policy: Iraq, Iraq, and Iraq). So what was accomplished from 2009 to 2021 in Afghanistan?
  22. After the government collapsed there is nothing that can be done. I meant what they did or they failed to do during the 20 years of rebuilding that was not done. State was tasked withe rebuilding the Afghan Police? How did that go? Tasked with setting local governmental institutions? How did that go? Rebuilding the Afghan Ministry of Interior? How did that go? State Department personnel rarely left the embassy compound.
  23. No I did not miss that. I had a TS SCI for years.
  24. Ok. Just my thoughts based upon my experience. Of course I was not privy to all information or intelligence. In terms of the experience of those who are in charge? The higher one goes, the more they hear from subordinates what they want to hear. Any soldier will understand what I mean by this. A Lieutenant wants a promotion to Captain, the Captain want to be a Major, the Major wants to be Lt Colonel and so and so on. Who wants to rock the boat to his next promotion?
  25. To provide security for an orderly withdrawal. I have been to Abbey gate at Kabul Airport and it is tight. It looked like a “Charlie Foxtrot”.
