  1. Agoda.com has a selection of hotels that are approved ASQ. One can book directly with Agoda.
  2. Scoreboard, my Changi experience was way different. I will add food can be ordered via an app and delivered to the THA . I was hungry but not willing to pay $20 for a cheeseburger. Also, I spent 7 hours in the THA. My experiences transiting with Korean Air at Incheon and with JAL at both Narita and Haneda were much better As expected at Narita I was able to buy a Asahi and leisurely drink it while sitting in the terminal. I have been a member of the Kris Flyer for almost a decade and the glory days of Singapore Airlines for me is in the rearview mirror. If you fly with SIA I hope your flight and transit experience is better than my experience.
  3. Let me add my 2 Cents about Singapore Airlines and Changi Airport for Transit passengers: 1. Transited in February from LAX to BKK. All transit passengers had to stay inside a secured part of the terminal called the "THA", Transit Holding Area. It was like a quasi jail. Bathroom, chairs, tables, vending machines and wifi. Spent 7 hours in it and it was bad. It was rather crowded as well. Paid $5 dollars for a Cup O Noodle. Passengers were then marched in a single file line to the connecting gate. 2. Emailed SIA yesterday about transit in 2022 and this is what I got a) RT-PCR test within 48 hours of departure and vaccination status is irrelevant 72 hours before departure is not difficult but 48 hours would be tight. b) The THA holding facility for transit passengers is still in place Well no thank you SIA and I will fly with ANA or JAL. The Japanese Airlines follow the RT-PCR testing policies of your destination country and transit passengers can roam the terminal and eat, drink or shop. I transited in both Narita and Haneda this year and both were fine with the exception of both airports being rather empty.
  4. Might take a look at a 5G phone. Why? it looks like the future is in 5G for mobile phones. Recently I spent more than a month in the US and my less than one year old Samsung Phone was not compatible with both ATT and T-Mobile networks. All US Based mobile companies are upgrading their networks and many of the older phones are not compatible with many of their networks. Also, I was able to buy a prepaid sim card at a Target store for my phone but the best Data speed I could get was .5 MBPS(this is really slow and really can't do much at this speed). . Even some of the Thai mobile companies are pushing 5G capable phones. The cheapest unlocked Samsung(my favorite brand) 5G capable phone is between 9000 to 10,000 Baht. Upgrading my current phone to a 5G phone is on top of my to do list. Just something to think about.
  5. I used Microsoft Edge and uploaded the CDC Vaccine Card. I also uploaded the specific document from CVS Pharmacy which indicates the lot# and expiration date of the Pfizer vaccine along with the name of the Pharmacist who inoculated me. Using the Microsoft Edge browser was seamless. Got the COE approved in 2 days. As for passport # on the CDC card, I asked the Pharmacist to write it on the card and she did after I showed her my passport. This is about the only way when it comes to the CDC vaccine card.
  6. ?? "They did approve the COE." "Royal Thai Consulate-General, Los Angeles has rejected your registration/application. In2021 I have had 2 COE's approved by the Los Angeles Thai Consulate. Both applications were not smooth. The first application was rejected 4 times and the second application was rejected once. In the COE application process there appears to be no "grey" area and the standards are in black in white. The current standards are: 1. Fully Vaccinated 7 days 2. Not fully vaccinated or not vaccinated 10 days. Therefore, the Quarantine Hotel Booking must match your quarantine periods.
  7. "Yes, I got a notice stating that I can update by hitting the red Confirm/Edit travel button, but I don't want to touch it because I'm afraid it might mess something up. If I cut out of there to CM after the first 7 days, then it's only about a $150USD loss" But it does not look like they will approve your COE with a 14 day booking?
  8. It is 2021 and I got an OA approved in Jan 2021 and I had to submit a confirmed flight booking to BKK on the initial visa application with the Los Angeles Thai Consulate.
  9. "I booked for 14 nights" See if you can change your booking for 7 days and resubmit?
  10. The DC Embassy states the following for an OA Visa application: In my experience of applying for OA Visa's I had to always prove I had a confirmed travel booking. To me this means I had to actually purchased a ticket to Thailand. "Proof and Confirmation" leave little wiggle room for Semantics. Which embassy or consulate is the OP dealing with? 2.4 Proof of flight confirmation/reservation, indicating the trip from US to Thailand
  11. Currently I am in my 2nd stint in a ASQ hotel in BKK. Yes the entire process of coming back into Thailand is a “pain in the ass”. I do not see the COE, the mandatory insurance and the 72 hour PCR test going away anytime soon. I believe the Thai Government is doing it’s due diligence in controlling who and when anyone enters the country(unlike the US Southern Border with Mexico). At this point the COE is the only way to accomplish this. The Health Insurance will stay in place because the last thing the Thai Government wants is for a foreigner to spend weeks in a hospital being treated for COVID 19 and not be able to pay for it(they have seen this movie before). The need for the 72 hour PCR test is obvious. Tourism for any country will never go back to the way it was before the pandemic. If you think it is difficult for anyone to enter Thailand, just look at Australia and New Zealand. This is just my opinion and it is based upon my two trips out of Thailand and then returning.
  12. I bought the Roche ATK from both Boots and Watson pharmacies. Boots was 1500 and Watson was 1400 for a box that contains 5 tests.
  13. I came through BKK yesterday and no one asked about the Thailand Plus App. The LA Thai Consulate did they state downloading the app was required when the COE was issued. Also, this app has never worked.
  14. “Americans wouldn't know an intellectual if they tripped over one.” Ken Burns is an intellectual who like most people have a political filter. Like most he picks and chooses what suits the project he works on. Bernstein is a whole different animal. He is political all the time.
  15. Arrived at BKK from Tokyo on October 1 at 1530. It was crowded at BKK because two flights from Tokyo landed at the same time. Every single blue plastic chair was filled. I was surprised to see many Japanese families with young children amongst the group of arrivals. The wait was almost 90 minutes before we were moved to the first station The first station was the Health Ministry Desk. I received my second Pfizer shot exactly 14 days ago. I was then told "Ten Days" and told to move along. My guess is one needs more than 14 days from the second shot to quarantine for 7 days. Got to the hotel about an hour later. Good luck to those who are coming later.
  16. "Recently two major U.S. intellectuals have made this point very explicitly. The best documentarian in American history Ken Burns and one of the greatest journalists in American history Carl Bernstein. " Bernstein, an intellectual and "one of the greatest journalist in American history"??? Ken Burns, because of his past work to me is an intellectual but Carl Bernstein? Also, a podcast hosted by a comedian and two has been actors? Also, America is a nation that at times is barely united. Americans have always been divided and in perpetual conflict amongst itself. Peace, Harmony and Diversity are usually in conflict. If you want to know the pulse of any American community just the street cops, firefighters, and anyone else works in public service.
  17. I am currently In Haneda Airport(another ghost town and the only place to buy water is a vending machine) waiting for my flight to BKK. My arrival date is October 1, fully vaccinated with Pfizer as indicated on the COE and fully paid for 14 days in ASQ. I wonder what will happen? 1. I do the full 14 days 2. I do 10 days like an unvaccinated person 3. I do 7 days. ??? or 555. I have learned through experience never apply western logic to anything related to Thailand.
  18. "You chose 15 nights locked in a hotel room instead of 14 nights with the freedom to roam Phuket (Sandbox) ?" Yup. Flying from LAX to Phuket without connecting in BKK was more expensive than I thought it would be. Also, I had pressed form time to get the COE. The consulate wanted 30 days for the sandbox COE and I did not have 30 days. Got the COE for BKK in 2 days.
  19. My COE was approved last week for an October 1 arrival. I am fully vaccinated and I am booked for 14 days at the ASQ hotel. Let's see what happens when I get to the hotel?
  20. I have been prescribed Dexilant 60 and 30 MG in the past. For me it has been effective in controlling symptoms of GERD. On the negative side Dexilant is very expensive(a month supply cost cost 6000 Baht). The 6000 was at a private hospital and I could not find a pharmacy that had Dexilant. Consider making an appointment with a Gastroenterologist and ask him about Dexilant.
  21. Phuket sounds more attractive but BKK ASQ has been going on for a long time and this will be my second time experiencing the joys of BKK Quarantine this year. For me going to BKK ASQ just looked like a simpler process. My COE was approved in less than 2 days. Good luck to all those who are in the process or will attempt the COE process in the near future. Sometimes it can be frustrating and time consuming. I would recommend give yourself at least 10 days from your date of your flight when you apply(this does not count weekends).
  22. Yes for October 1 from the Los Angeles Thai Consulate. I will have the joy of doing the full 15 day run in a hotel room in BKK.
  23. This is interesting because as a fully vaccinated person(Pfizer 2 doses and 14 days since the last dose) and I land in BKK on October 1. I have already booked and paid for the 15 day ASQ package. My guess is I will have the pleasure of spending the "full ride" in the room with three "great meals" served cold in plastic boxes. This time I am bringing some comfort foods like instant oatmeal and other non perishable items. We shall see if anything changes??? 555 and TIT.
  24. Ok. Let's says "open" on November 15? Great then all the closed businesses can suddenly open and all the employees can come back? Opening for a country that was accustomed to large number of tourists and has been closed for more than a year will take more than 45 days. I hope someone is planning to ramp the airport(I departed out of BKK 4 weeks ago and the only place where I could buy water was at a vending machine), immigration(only one officer working at departures), hotels(I stayed at a hotel near BKK and was "dead").
