  1. Hello,

I got scammed for 231 thb and counting, they subscribed me to a service without my consent, I don't even send SMS nor visit any thai website.

When I asked true about it, they said if you click on a banner it can activate the service... <deleted> !

I have 77 charges for June and the same is happening in July.

Be very careful and check your bills as you could have services subscribed even if you don't do anything.

Johnny...just for the many members that read these threads. Can you give more detail. So many post of people being detained in rooms with bunks.

Then you state you paid 2k to get out and ticket 25k.

2k to who. Also who purchased 25k ticket. That is done past pp control.

    What's that all about?

You can buy tickets in the international zone. 2K to the guard to let you go.

The whole 'you are not a tourist' argument confuses me. Firstly, there are many edge cases that are 'allowed' such as looking for a job. Secondly, unless Thailand does the simple job of stating a clear number of days per year that is acceptable to them to be a 'tourist' how is up to the keyboard warriors here to make that definition?

Maybe the good folks here who argue that 'tourists' are not 'tourists' could just have the balls and be clear about their position? You don't want 'farangs' in Thailand who have enough money to stay here indefinitely? Are you jealous/ frustrated or what? Could you please stop hiding behind your negative posts and just get it out there.

You don't think it's fair that there are people who have enough money to travel and enjoy their lives? You believe that in doing so they are 'gaming the system' and somehow making your life worse?

Seriously - look at yourself and your life. It has nothing to do with these people that you take so mich pleasure in their misfortune.

You may not believe it but we're all in this together.

To this Thailand has an answer... elite visa, everyone I know has it. If you really have the money to be a full time tourist prove it by buying the visa.

Or you have to work or you are rich enough to buy the visa. No long term cheap charlie tourists wanted. Message loud and clear.

Indeed, it would be ridiculous. Anyone on a Work Extension is required to leave the country on the day their Extension ends (unless they buy a 7 day extension). The normal practise is to leave Thailand and then return as a tourist to sort out your affairs and, unless you decide to leave Thailand, try to get a new job.

I have every sympathy with how the OP has been treated but I don't see any evidence that this is an official change of policy or practice.

Sorting affairs is not being a tourist, the immigration officer was right then when he thought he wasn't a tourist. The problem is, there is no visas to sort your affairs before leaving. I guess one has to sort his affairs first, when he knows he will not be renewing his work permit. Sell the car first before leaving Thailand. Actually that's the logic thing to do. I was in Dubai last month and I bought stuff from someone who was going to leave in 2 months, he was sorting his affairs 2 months in advance.

  5. They believe you came back to work illegally after losing your work permit of course. For them it doesn't make any sense to come back to Thailand in such a case. Thai people will sell their cars to car tents in 5 min for whatever is offered to them, that's not a viable excuse neither.

And you are not a tourist neither, you worked here, that is not tourism. The officer was super strict but followed guidelines as stated by the law.

  6. Hi,

I'm moving into a new apartment soon, I wanted to be ready to do the TM30 by myself as I travel quite a lot but the required documents are too much and I wont be able to get them from the landlord as certified true copies are required of sensitive documents and POA...

I asked my real estate agent and since I already paid I think they don't care at all what I do or don't do now.

Also I don't have any contact of the landlord, it wasn't provided to me by the agent, just a rental contract.

  7. Hello,

Today I heard directly from an elite employee that a member got his extension refused because he forgot to do the tm30. He has now to fly out and try a re-entry instead (when I asked him if he could re-enter without issues he said he wasn't sure yet as this is the first time it happened).

Elite status wont help you if you don't have the tm30.

He also told me that it was recorded and in the future it might cause problems...

This is shocking news really, must have happened after Big Joke dissappeared. He stepped on too many toes. Now it's back to business as usual , but first time I hear about this!

We only have your word for it, so I would like to have a confirmation about doing it this way from another source.
I am a digital nomad myself, and it doesnt matter where I live, but if I could do it this way next time I arrive Thailand it would probably save me a lot of problems.

Those are non existent problems, if we all report the abusers and corrupt officials it will stop. Just contact the anti corruption police each time it happens and they will not try it again.

Just send in your application and see if it gets denied or not. I had a one time overstay history (1-2 days) when I applied and it was not an issue.

Once approved, I see no reason for you being denied anything.

BTW. Can highly recommend the Elite visa.

You could be denied anyway if they believe you are working in Thailand, thai elite visa is just a tourist visa. If you live in Thailand full time with it they might ask you where you are working and where your money is coming from, and if your answer is not straight and clear, you could be denied entry.

The elite visa was made for the elites who actually like to travel to Thailand but are not living in Thailand full time. It's just to avoid queues to make visas.

I was asked once what I do in Thailand (I have the elite visa) and I show them that I work in Dubai with my work permit and all the documentation. Also explaining to them that as the director of the company I only need to attend important meetings so my presence is not needed in Dubai too often.
