  1. Only in Thailand when someone admit that he is the sole coup maker and get away with it. This is a sickening mentality among some generals that staging a coup is their entitlement and they are doing the country a favour. Every coup is a body blow to the image of Thailand's political stability and economy. The generals are doing a hideous disservice to the country and ought to stand trial for illegal seizure of a legimate elected government.
  2. Scratching my head why many here become overly upset and emotional over a "target". Every organisation has a target; that's prerequisite for planning.
  3. Many ethnic groups emigrated to Siam from native southeast Asia, Southern China and North East India. Government policies during the 1930s and 40s resulted in successful force assimilation of the many various ethno-liquistic groups in the country into the dominant Thai people, language and culture. Same as in Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines. You seem to take a historic shortcut to make your point.
  4. Is this a serious question? Heard of studying ice cores to measure past temperatures. Just one of many methods.
  5. I think you are wrong. Constitutions have provisions on coups being illegal. In fact Supreme Court have in the past ruled that junta seizure of government by staging coup was illegal but was legimate when it can maintain the peace of the country without being resisted. Coups also went unpunished due to the protection afforded by the amnesty law after each coup.
  6. Perhaps the importance of humidity here in tropical countries is that fire behavior decrease as grass and trees take moisture from the air when humidity is high. Much less forest fires than low humidity countries which render the fuels much more drier.
  7. The Japan loan is denominated in Yen. Has little effect on Baht-USD exchange rate.
  8. If he don't attend, he wouldn't get pay. Payment is based on attendance.
  9. I don't think Trump will run. He just can't stand being beatened twice.
  10. Are you suggesting that the republicans are shameless and lack conscience. Let’s see about that. DeWine, Yost, other Ohio Republicans and others hurt a traumatized child once by forcing her to flee the state in order to receive health care; then hurt her again by peddling propaganda erasing her; hurting her a third time by refusing to acknowledge and apologize for their actions. You are certainly spot on.
  11. Thailand for all the flaws still have majority rule. Can’t say the same for good old USA. Probably in the category of soft authoritarian.
  12. I get your point and many among us are suffering from covid fatigue and had reached a breaking point with the deluge of information and masking reminders etc. Me too. I was infected with mild covid only recently but still the few days of fever, fatigue, sore throat and consistent coughing were uncomfortable. Put me off work and did my best to isolate myself not because I fear but to ensure those close to me will not get infected. The Omicron variant is mild according to data; thank god. I consider taking precautions like masking, distancing and vaccines mild precautions too. Didn’t inconvenience me at all and probably saved my life. Stay well and safe mate.
  13. There are always the recalcitrants that don’t care till they caught the virus. Then they reflect that they should heed those data or perhaps may be tad late.
  14. I had 2 AZ jabs and Pfyzer booster in Nov and got hit with covid last Sat. Hospital did all the important tests and X-ray. Doctor prescribed medicines and send me off to rest at home. I credit the vaccines for not getting the worst of covid. Vaccinated and being infected is not uncommon but vaccines preventing serious deterioration is.
  15. If CP is not the only supplier and certainly don’t own all the outlets in Thailand and that rules out using the term monopoly. Period.
  16. CP not the only supplier for anything and not in a position to dictate prices in a competitive free market. Thailand also have price control regulation for essential products. CP started in a humble beginning and has grown successfully due to the vision of key family members.
  17. Thailand is a small country and heavily depend on trade and FDI and need to have friendly reletionship and bilateral cooperation with all major economic superpower.
  18. You have much in common with Trump. All about himself and your investment that matters.
  19. I hope you have not taken a full plunge into that Trump's rabbit hole like Stacy Blatt who was in hospice care and went online and chipped in everything he could after listening to Rush Limbaugh's grift for donation to Trump's campaign. That small donation of $500 quickly multiplied every week until he cant even pay for his utility and rent payment and he has to called his brother for help.
  20. Dollar is overvalue and it's unclear if the currency's strength will hold in the impending recession. Higher interest rate will come with a cost as it will cause a significant drop in economic activity and high unemployment making a recession more likely. Hold the USD at your own peril.
  21. Furloughed, retrenched, laid off, early retirement but not sacked.
  22. Should include forming a national government to tackle the worsening economic crisis until next election, Prayut and whole cabinet to step aside for a more competent team.
  23. The few countries now have a rival G7 $600bn financial plan to ruin their countries with the big brown envelope.
